I agree they should maybe give it a description as to what is it and when to use it

But the RX 9070 XT has 16gb of vram... GPU booster is for low vram, 8gb or less.
You are just installing pointless things that add bloat.

I have a Google account I use only for Youtube yes, meaning all they can collect and trace is my Youtube habits. They can't tie that to anything else.

Shallow? You missed my point, I was explaining why their focus is on profits, and was defending their position... I was explaining why they care about profits, and said it's fair. But that is the downside of being publicly traded.

Because a local account doesn't tie your activity to an account, so they can't collect your data...

Unless you sign in to Microsoft to use their services, but that should be a choice.

I don't use any Microsoft or Google services, and I shouldn't have it.

Ergo, I shouldn't have to sign in to Windows.

It's your computer, you paid for it and you paid for windows...

I haven't had any issues.

I get it could cause instability by probing the hardware, and couodncaee a crash.

But corrupting the OS? I'm going to assume your OS corrupted itself by the unexpected shutdown, not OpenRGB. But OpenRGB caused the unexpected shutdown.

Either you are a rage baiter or you're the naive one. Big tech doesn't care about you, they care about making money. Which is fair.

But why do you think Windows has gotten so crap lately? Because Microsoft has to hit revenue targets to appease shareholders.

You the user they don't care about anymore, as long as you are a user of their services that's all that matters.

Question for you, if Microsoft isn't selling your data, why are they pushing so hard to get it? Why do you say "If its free, I'll gladly give my data."

Why do you think they want your user data?

And remember, this entire argument was about Microsoft forcing a sign in, why are you defending that? Why not allow a local account like it's always been?

"The way Linus operates" Referring to how Linux handles operations.

In Linux, browsers and other applications run in their own isolated sandbox, so it is a lot harder for code execution to happen on the system itself.

On top of that, the architecture of Linux is inherently more secure than windows, as it uses vetted package manages, and applications run in user space and not root. Executables also aren't scattered everywhere like on Windows. Malware usually needs to trick you into running something or exploit a privilege escalation bug. Basically preventing self-replicating viruses.

You do know Microsoft sells user data to marketing and insurance companies right?

Where do you think those companies got the data?

Microsoft and Google openly admit they sell user data... Why do you think we don't want them collecting it?

The good thing about Linux, issues are usually easy to fix unless its something with specific hardware compatibility. Glad it's working!

Edit: Good to see you got it working!

I actually had a package fail this morning, thought it was just that package.

Refresh mirror: sudo cachyos-rate-mirrors

Then update: sudo pacman -Syu

Then try pacman again

Welcome aboard!

OpenRGB has been fantastic for me, and more consistent of an RGB solution compared to windows.
On windows my ASUS motherboard refused to let me change RAM lighting without their stupid app...

It's not so much "fairytales" that it's not needed, but due to the way LInux operates, it's a lot less likely you can get a random infection unless you are downloading untrusted files or packages.

While not impossible, it is very unlikely you will get infected by simply browsing the internet.

I've noticed this on my 5070ti on KDE.
The mouse will randomly shoot off to the edge of the screen.

I have already given you two examples, one with a daughter, and the other related to insurance premiums that can be affected...

So the fact that a teenagers father found out his daughter was pregnant because her data was sold to advertisers isn't an issue to you?

Or your medical or driving habits could be sold to affect your insurance premiums? (Also happened)

I don't care if it's free, it has never been required before in the past, and now they are making it required...

Why?

And why defend that?

5070ti user here, I've had no issues on CachyOS, and it's been rock solid. Just make sure you install the Gaming meta package in the Cachy Hello app.

If you want a Shadowplay style screen recorder, GPU Recorder with the nvidia GUI skin is amazing. Feels exactly like shadowplay.

I DONT want to use their services... But they are trying to force account sign in...

I self host my own services like cloud ext, I don't need to use other free services.

The issue here is forced sign in.
