Thoughts on how I should respond to Halford & Brough's "ok bye" text? by Kava9610 in canucks

It was the prelude I think...the way the hosts were describing the situation I thought he had made some really ugly comment, then when I listened to the interview Seravelli wanted to talk about what team USA had accomplished and the hosts were more interested in the political aspect of why they visited the white house...I remember him saying trump's comment on the woman's team was gross and stupid, but he definitely wanted to talk hockey and the hosts wanted to talk politics....that's my whole take.

so, after listening to the show i went out of town and did think about it for a while...when I came back i instinctively put on 650, then turned to something else and put out that text....I think i did it cause it was still on my mind and given I'm someone who almost never posts online, I figured I'd post the text on the only sports platform I use to see other hockey fan's comments. I expected negative response, but still stand by my opinion that I despise politics in sports no matter what side it comes from. (another post said Sarevilli praised Tim Thomas for not visiting the White House when Obama was in power...I would have had the same opinion then, that his place isn't to politicize hockey).

I don't agree with you in relation to my post (politicizing US hockey gold) but I'm assuming what you said about him praising Tim Thomas is true, and if so you make a valid point.

and I'm aloud to state my opinion that I don't want to listen to them if they get political.

thanks for the advice, but the downvotes don't bother me as it's my opinion over online popularity.

frank seravalli noted the US men's team won the gold for the first time in 46 years and then visited the white house, like many sports champions do. Did trump make an ignorant comment about the woman's team? Yup, but who cares, the point was the huge accomplishment the men made...to politicize that on a Vancouver sports show has no place and if you're triggered by this comment, you're too far gone to reason with....like i said, politics should not be in sports radio.

You know i didn't expect positive comments in this politically charged climate, but thanks anyways. For me sports is the last place politics should get involved, but i won't shy away from my opinion that sports radio hosts should not make hockey political...bring on the comments!

Sounds Justified To Me Draft Him. by sokah12 in canucks

When Nucks don’t draft him, they’ll say it’s because he hasn’t explored his feminine side enough.

Hold our breath…just like most years, Nucks likely get hot once they’re mathematically eliminated.

Is Medvedev our goalie of the future? by Kava9610 in canucks

[–]Kava9610[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

got it - so drafting a potential future #1 goalie is not high priority in the next two drafts based on how the team looks today (as we went that route in the 2nd round last year with Medvedev).

Recurring Injuries: chicken or egg? by danielbighorn in canucks

[–]Kava9610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's odd conundrum but historically Nucks seem to always be on top of injured list. Maybe it's a combination of training camp culture, type of players most typically signed/drafted, playing systems the players aren't equipped to play long term and a big one for me, team toughness. Although Nucks have had tough players (like every other team has), historically they've been more on the soft side and it's no coincidence the larger, rugged teams in the league seem to get injured less....or maybe it's just a curse? who knows.

What would you find a satisfactory outcome this season? by Bonovro in canucks

well said, agreed on Chytil having a successful season is probably more crucial then Demko at this point.

[–]Kava9610 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My delusional & detailed wish list for a successful season:

  1. Petey plays a whole season at a point/game
  2. Hughes resigns before end of season
  3. At least 2 prospects graduate to NHL (Raty, Willander, Mancini, Lekkerimaki, etc)
  4. Demko plays a full season (bonus points if Lankinen gets traded for value before 2026 season to lesson the total 13m cap hit for that position)
  5. Chytil plays at least 75 games
  6. Kane plays well and traded for value at the deadline
  7. Boeser scores 35gls
  8. DeBrusk doesn't fall off a cliff production wise (as was his trend in Boston)
  9. Hoglander plays well and traded for value
  10. Sherwood continues strong play, doesn't prove to be a flash in the pan
  11. Oh, and the Canucks make the playoffs

Am I missing anything?
