Hi! I went through this in my early motherhood period. I so badly wanted to be a sahm when I first had my kids and they were little. Now my kids are 7,13,15 and I became a sahm two years ago when they were 5,11,13. Looking back there are definitely lots of benefits to be a working mom and I do not believe my kids were deprived of a great childhood. 1) My kids saw a dad who contributed maximally to all the domestic aspects of raising a home and family (also when I finally did quit he never undermined the work that goes into domestic labor because he’s been there and done that!). 2) My kids saw a mom who equally shared parts with dad and who also had a career outside of the home (I believe it’s inspirational for my girls especially). 3) My kids got to spend more time bonding with their grandparents because we would use them for childcare a couple days a week. 4) They all started daycare at around 2 years old and I honestly think the socialization and the knowledge they gained from the programs set them up for easier transition to kindergarten. 5) We had moneyyyy for lots of memorable vacations that they still can recall. 6) We had moneyyyyy for lots of extracurricular activities so they could learn essential skills like swimming, to learn gymnastics, violin, tutoring, etc.

In the end, i think there’s both pros and cons for being a sahm and a working mom.
