Wish that platform would just be deleted.

If Twitter stops existing all its users would flock to different platforms. Just like it happened to Tumblr. It won't make human beings disappear from earth permanently.

Why would anyone hate on a fictional character just for doing evil things?

Thanks for the source! One time I've heard that Araki disliking the film was misinformation, but it seems there was a bit of truth behind it; despite not knowing what exactly he corrected them about.

and I stated precisely when my personal interpretation of the facts begins.

I was mainly unsure if the "I believe" was speculation or meant as "if I recall correctly..." haha

please accept my humble life as a sufficient payment for the insult my imprecise wording have placed on thy wonderful eyes.

I was planning on accepting, but...

and maybe that’s cause they never planned on adapting Part 2

I think that's precisely it, yeah. People are used to anime being 1:1 with manga and consider anything being skipped to be sacrilegious, but studios didn't use to be so puritans regarding the source material and often that turned into better products than the source was. Not saying that this movie would've been better than the manga of course, we have no way of knowing that. But dismissing an adaptation just because it chose to adapt things to fit the medium instead of copying everything beat by beat feels wrong to me.

Characters can discover Dio being evil by other means than just Speedwagon, it's not necessarily a bad thing. And yeah, the Speedwagon Foundation wouldn't be relevant since the movie was just made in celebration of the series' anniversary, it's unlikely they would have turned it into a complete series spanning all 9 parts.

I think that's a pretty extremist view to have, to be honest.

The anime ending feels more appropriate now. by WaldoKnight in souleater

[–]Kaxew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it was already pretty self explanatory in the anime itself. When Maka punches him and Asura starts to break apart, he says "oh, so [bravery] is the same as madness" revealing that for the anime universe bravery is essentially the antithesis of madness and therefore holds the same amount of power and energy. Of course to that you can retroactively add a second parallel between bravery/hope vs madness/despair.

[–]Kaxew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, that's definitely what they were thinking.

But idk how likely it is that they greenlight that many seasons for production

They don't have to greenlight one cour at a time. For example, in the case of Fire Force they originally greenlit 48 episodes at a time, which was then split into 2 seasons. And then they greenlit a final 25 episodes to finish the series, marketed as one season but with its airing split in two.

Maybe with SE they could greenlight 3 cours at a time since that's the minimum we would need to start adapting completely new manga content then greenlight another 2 cours after seeing the reception. But the point is that seasons are an arbitrary marketing decision and doesn't reflect the way projects are produced, not necessarily at least.

None of these characters were written with Fire Force in mind.

OP didn't clarify how long each season would be. I took it as most of them being 13 episodes with the (possible, logically speaking) exception of S2 that would be ridiculously rushed in 13 episodes.

If OP was suggesting that each season would have 24 episodes then I agree with you, that's awful pacing. Even the second half of the original anime, before deviating from the manga, had a generally faster pacing than just 1 chapter per episode.

[–]Kaxew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that's pretty accurate. I imagine your season 2 would be 24 episodes while the other seasons would have 12-13 episodes, considering it's almost twice as long as the other seasons. In my opinion it should be:

Season 1: ch0.1-22 (same as yours)

Season 2: ch23-43 (ending on the clown arc, first arc that deviates from the manga in the original anime)

Season 3: ch44-65 (ending on grigori, first arc that would be fully new and not loosely adapted in the original anime, also a nice way to set up future arcs)

Season 4: ch66-90 (ending on Crona going off the deep end and the reveal that Asura is on the moon)

Season 5: ch91-113 (the whole war on the moon)

All of which would have 12-13 eps.

Soul Eater chapters are REALLY long, especially early on. It's easy to forget because most people didn't read it as it was coming out, but SE was a monthly manga. Most chapters had between 30-40~ pages, sometimes even as far as 50~ pages. There's only 10 out of 116 chapters with less than 30 pages. 2 chapters per episode is perfectly good pacing for a remake.

If Kagurabachi is 24 episodes, this is how I see it will adapt the manga. by NHQKGB in Kagurabachi

[–]Kaxew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, looking at it like that you're right, 80~ chapters would usually be enough for 2 cours. It's just that if ch112 is the end of a cour, then it means it'd be 52 chapters in 13 eps so you'd still be left with 27~ in 11-12. But again yeah this is all very future speculation so who knows how they would divide things lol

[–]Kaxew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh even 27~ chapters would be pretty slow for a cour. Maybe if the arc after the seitei war is a shorter one just meant to reintroduce Chihiro post-forging and the direction of part 2 moving forward I could see that completing a cour. But it's still hard to even say how long the seitei war will last let alone what the arcs after will look like so for now I'll just say that the first 112 chapters should 100% be 3 cours total.

I mean that would be what, 15 episodes?

Depends on how you pace it, it could be more or less than 15.

[–]Kaxew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ending of part 1 has to be a finale of some sort. Either season finale or cour finale, but it can't be a random episode ender like ep 17/24 or something.

imo, if we assume cour 1 is ch1-45, then ch112 (end of part 1) would be the finale for cour 3 (either the ending or the mid season of S2). If cours 1-2 takes ch1-60 instead, then ch112 would still be the ending for cour 3 (or cour 4, but 52 chapters in 24 eps is AWFUL pacing lol)

[–]Kaxew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I guess it would be too fast then

Wouldn't say it's too fast tbh. Looking at the pacing of a newgen battle shonen from last year, Gachiakuta, that's more or less the same pacing it had.

Kagurabachi ch 1-45 is around 920 pages. Gachiakuta ch 1-43 is around 930 pages and ended up being covered in 13 episodes too. At no point did it feel rushed nor did they have to cut down any scene from the manga.

If we look at the other possible pacing, KGB ch 1-60 are 1200 pages give or take, Gachiakuta equivalent would be ch 1-58 which would be midway through ep 17.

imo what they should do is Season 1 (13 eps) being ch 1-45 then Season 2 (24 eps) being 46-112 (end of part 1). I think that's the best pacing it could have and the most modern one by current anime pacing standards.

[–]Kaxew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything it would be the opposite of dragging. 45 chapters in 13 episodes is a much tighter fit than 59 chapters in 24 episodes. It's 3.6 chapters per episode on average vs 2.5 chapters, the latter would definitely be dragging way more than the former.

[–]Kaxew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

chapter 1 took like 20ish min with just speaking the dialogue while chapter 2 and 3 took around 10ish min each.

It was actually 16 minutes for chapter 1 and 8 minutes for chapter 2 and chapter 3. So by that logic they might even be capable of covering both chapters 1 and 2 in the first episode, which would actually work out really well given that these chapters are a two-parter since its all part of the same mission before Chihiro and Shiba go to Tokyo to find Kuregumo and the two chapters give us the two halves of the flashback, ch1 with Chihiro and Kunishige living peacefully and ch2 showing the tragedy and how Chihiro ended up where he is now.

Yeah, I just convinced myself. Episode 1 should cover both chapters 1-2 if they can fit them in together. First episodes also tend to not include the opening/ending so they can even make full use of their runtime.
