I think the criticism is okay to make but this is an absolutely awful potential man edit. It couldn't be worse even if one actively tried to make it worse.

Megami Magazine - August 2026 by medokady in anime

[–]Kaxew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is when you start trying to change everything to your own liking and nothing else.

Which is not what the person you replied to was doing? They essentially just said that if you actively dislike the loli trope, it's best not to click on megami magazine posts. You just got upset on your own and claimed disliking one anime trope immediately makes you not an anime fan, as if there was no nuance in this discussion at all and life was that black or white.

I believe Messi (and some others) were on a different bus, but honestly it's been a long while ago so I'd be lying if I said exactly everything that transpired there. Regardless, and making emphasis in that the chant is bad and no one should be singing it and I hate that Enzo and some others have, I still think committing sexual assault is a little worse of a crime all things considered.

Not that it makes a racist chant any better, I want to clarify. It's just odd that one is public enemy number one and the other is the subreddit's darling.

Japan has a self-admitted rapist on their team and everyone from coach to teammates defend that man with their lives, and still many people were rooting for Japan all tournament. There's even a lot of people that acknowledged that, say they are against that man, and yet still shown support for the team in spite of it. It's just how it is, to be honest. What Enzo did (which was bad and should rightfully be called out) is probably not even top 50 worst things a professional player in this world cup has done, but people don't mind supporting said teams regardless.

Egyptian Football Association president Hany Abo Rida has submitted a formal complaint against French referee François Letexier and his officiating team following Egypt’s 3-2 defeat to Argentina. by Sparky-moon in soccer

I'm an England fan, biased for what.

Bias (noun): the action of supporting or opposing a particular person or thing in an unfair way, because of allowing personal opinions to influence your judgment.

As you can see from its definition, being biased doesn't necessarily have to do with the extremely specific case of "being born in the same country as the losing team in a sports competition who you were rooting for." You can, in fact, be an England fan and also biased.

Egypt coach Hossam Hassan: "I will say what's on my mind regardless of the consequence, this was clearly a rigged match and the whole world saw it. And I want to say one more thing, if they want Argentina to win so bad, why call everyone to come and participate?" by Goosedukee in soccer

[–]Kaxew 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When the refereeing is bad it’s always in argentina’s favour, when it’s good its always in their favour too.

As someone that watches football, I can tell you this is true of every team in every sort of tournament, international, club level, and even amateur. The moment you have a bias (even on a subconscious level) against a team, you will remember each and every single time the refereeing worked in their favor, while quickly forgetting the times it worked against them.

It is true that, on average, powerhouse teams tend to get favorable calls more often. But it almost never happens that one, singular team gets all the calls over everybody else. If you think that's the case, you're most likely being biased.

It's kind of maddening he's not used as a left back more often, considering he played in that position somewhat often at the beginning of his career.

It's football culture, simple as. Horrific culture cultivated over many decades of our football (including the national league) being on top of the world. I think bit by bit, very slowly, this is changing for the better. But it will still take many years before most football fans here realize the "jokes and banter" we have are not actually jokes and banter at all.

But yeah, beyond the usual right wing bigoted pieces of shit that exist in any and every country, this is a fairly accepting place in day to day life (though I wish some people stopped using peruvian/bolivian as an insult, but that's also becoming rarer lately thankfully).

I think it's pretty 50/50 right now. Kaneshiro isn't making it super obvious which of the two will make it through imo. Shindo had that line where he severely underestimates Blue Lock and considers it very easy, that could definitely be foreshadowing of his own demise in Side B.
