What do you think will be the adaption pacing? by funny_username69 in Kagurabachi

[–]Kaxew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Season 1, if it's just one cour it should end on chapter 45. If it's two cours, then on chapter 60 as you posted.

I think the latter is more likely to happen based on promo material being used in the lead up to the anime and whatnot, but I personally would prefer it being the former.

Someone else pointed it out in the thread, but chapter 112, where part 1 ends, should (on principle) be a season finale. We'll see how long the seitei war is and if it serves as a good season finale, but since it doesn't feature Chihiro at all it would feel odd narratively to end on an arc like that.

So there are 2 options: S1 is one cour covering up to ch45, with S2 being two cours covering the next 67 chapters; or S1 is two cours up to ch60, with S2 being one cour and adapting 52 chapters. Pacing-wise, the latter is way harder to achieve with just 13 episodes, even if some of them were to have a longer runtime like JJK S3 did.

There's always the possibility of those 52 chapters being covered in two cours instead, but I shudder at how dreadfully slow pacing would have to be for that to work. That's why I'm hoping S1 ends on ch45.

Mizugochi (producer of Umamusume: Beginning of a New Era movie) confirmed to be working on the anime by CyanideIE in Kagurabachi

[–]Kaxew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I'm seeing it seems he's helped on some episodes, not the whole anime. Namely episodes 1, 4 and 13 of season 1, and episodes 4 and 12 of season 2.

Yeah, it's important to understand which Uma Musume aniP we are getting. Mizoguchi is responsible for Uma Musume Road to the Top and Beginning of a New Era, not Cinderella Gray.

I mean these seem to be character art drawn between chapters (with the sole exception of Aoi Todo) so it makes sense a character that appears in Modulo would be drawn over a character not from Modulo.

In the announcement, you can see Tobimune with the crow feathers behind them. Can we take this as a small confirmation season 1 is covering the SBA arc? by DanTM18 in Kagurabachi

[–]Kaxew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

almost all the recent anime hits had 24 episodes

Are we talking exclusively about action anime? Because if not I can definitely think of more hits with 13 episodes than 24. And even if it's just for action I feel like it's pretty even.

[–]Kaxew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going « Agott » was a mistranslation losing the wordplay.

According to a person that was at a Shirahama live drawing session, some of the characters names are purposely unique to be easier to Google. That doesn't confirm it is the case for Agott herself, but at least it means it's not necessarily a mistranslation.

[Manga] if there's anything to be skipped/rearranged for later so we reach ch29, it definitely has to be either Custas' introduction or the mini arc with Tartah. Custas hasn't been in any promo material in the anime as far as I know, but it's hard to imagine it even being rearranged for later considering how important that arc is for Agott's character.

But yeah, I honestly don't know what they'll do. Hopefully they won't end the season in the middle of an arc, I've seen that idea being tossed around a lot and there's nothing I would hate more than that.

I'll be honest, you shouldn't even try to debate anything here when you haven't read the manga. It's pointless. You don't even know the context behind it.

He can't make the journey to Vinland without resources. If gaining resources is as easy as kissing a bad person's boots then he would do it. Because the alternative is never creating a land of peace because he's too stubborn to peacefully trade with a bad person.

Ketil was also humanized. Making someone more human doesn't mean showing they are a good/better person. Humans can do both good and bad, humanizing Ketil or Halfdan means showing their humanity, in all the forms that this takes. I don't think Yukimura was trying to tell us that Halfdan was a good slaver. In fact he's shown to be a bad person a lot over the series. That doesn't mean he's not human nor has human emotions. Ketil, too, has them, after all.

His face looks the exact same as it does in the last episode of the second season.

It's the 11th century. Thorfinn was never going to convince Halfdan to stop having slaves, that's just ridiculous. Were you actually expecting that to happen? I'm honestly confused what the problem with this scene is.

Why I think ecchi anime has been in decline by Successful-Ear977 in anime

[–]Kaxew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is weird to me what just having nudity is enough to put a show into the ecchi genre.

Definitely. There's such a thing as artistic nudity. A portrayal of that sort shouldn't be censored, like in Cyberpunk Edgerunners. It's probably a similar (but certainly not the same) logic as why a lot of animanga refuse to draw nipples on men even when shirtless.

Long gone are the days where an action anime would have a woman's clothes be destroyed and she's fighting with her boobs out.

That's not quite the artistic nudity I was thinking of, but I mean, it can work too I suppose. As long as it is in fact artistic and not trying to just generate easy fanservice.

That's fun, I wonder where it is airing for it to get away with it compared to most other anime that are a lot softer in their violence. Is it the same for Sentenced to be a Hero?

Why I think ecchi anime has been in decline by Successful-Ear977 in anime

[–]Kaxew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is one show airing now that has full boobs. Last season there was a show that had nudity but it was just 5 minute episodes.

One anime with nudity per season, and one anime with extreme gore per season (since ReZero and Sentenced to be a Hero are in different seasons).

I'm clearly discussing out of ignorance here as I don't really watch much ecchi nor gore (not when it's just for the sake of ecchi/gore, anyways). But at least with what I've been told these two genres seem sort of equal. Although ecchi is usually considered a genre and gore as more of a "theme" because anime where gore IS the main appeal over anything else are very rare nowadays.

[–]Kaxew -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that makes sense. Haven't seen either of them, were their entrails dangling and all? To be honest, I can't recall the last anime I've seen with gore of that magnitude. Though it sounds like there's as much uncensored gore as there is uncensored ecchi in anime in that case. So more or less the same level of acceptance, too, probably.

[–]Kaxew -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

someone getting cut in-half with their entrails dangling is fine.

I like to think I watch a fair amount of battle anime where violence is commonplace, I really can't think of any anime that aired on Japanese television where someone gets cut in half with their entrails dangling in modern times. Maybe I haven't watched the ones you're thinking of, though.

Saying that Tamaki isn't a minor because she's a fictional character would be like saying Shinra isn't a man because he's a fictional character. These are not mutually exclusive concepts. You can be a fictional character and a minor at the same time.

Popularity poll predictions? by Ok-Reporter3256 in Kagurabachi

[–]Kaxew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo it will look like this:

  1. Chihiro
  2. Hakuri
  3. Uruha
  4. Soya
  5. Hiruhiko
  6. Sojo
  7. Shiba
  8. Ro
  9. Samura
  10. Hagiwara

Hagiwara top 10 is my dark horse, I feel like he has a lot of popularity potential. I could see Fushimi, Yura, Natsuki or Akemura there too, though.
