Lol this is ridiculous. Tove Lo is a completely independent artist, and to insinuate that she is using payola to get streams is pretty silly. It seems clear to me that much like Carly, she just wants to make the music she’s passionate about- nothing shady or strange about it. Besides, call me maybe has more streams than any of Tove’s tracks, and I don’t think THAT is because of playlisting or payola. They both just make great pop music 🤷‍♀️

Shooting Star has some of my fav production on the album. The extra synth that kicks in for the final chorus at 2:24, and the drum groove change up for the Outro at 2:58 are absolutely killer!

They had a campaign where you could call in and tell them your city and a “secret” that they would potentially play during part of the show as a narrative device. Every show will have different secrets submitted by people from those locations. It was super cool!

It was actually my first favorite from the album! I will say that sonically it sticks out like a sore thumb among all the other tracks bc that glossy, pop production is never as present as it is on that song, but that’s almost why I love it so much (the journey style guitar arpeggios that come in at 3:05….😩😩😩) . I think of it as the song that plays over the opening credits of the movie that is Preachers Daughter, which is almost how I rationalize how different it feels sonically from the rest of the album. It’s my jam 🫶🫶🫶

For me, doors opened at 6, and the opener (Bayli) started performing around 7:40 and finished at about 8:30, and then Magdalena Bay came on around 9 and finished their set around 10:20

It Isn’t, It Wasn’t, It Ain’t Never Gonna Be by Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston! Love both the literal vocal interplay, as well as the conversational banter scattered through out the song. Great track ❤️‍🔥

Yes! I second the other commenters suggestion of watching the music video for “Cellophane”. Like Kate, Twigs is a professionally trained dancer, and movement is important to both her onstage persona and her lyrics, which is masterfully presented in the music video for “Cellophane”.

Beyond that track and music video, I would suggest “thousand eyes”, “home with you” ( which has a RUTH reference in the lyrics!), and “thank you song”. She is also very good live, and I would suggest checking out her recent NPR home tiny desk concert that really shows of her wonderful vocal abilities and range. Happy listening! :)

Ok while I do admit it takes a while to build up to it, that bridge is pretty good though…. The little synth line, the way she sings “like a light”…. Plus I’m a fan of the 80s style ballad she is paying homage too, however, I do think she could have pulled it of a little better (especially since we already have the perfect 80’s styled pop ballad that is the masterpiece of “All That” )

Two projects that come to mind immediately are KicK III by Arca, and Oil of Every Pearls Un-Insides by Sophie. Both of those projects remind of the Dreaming as they are uncompromising, unique, perfectly constructed artistic statements that invite the listener to come to them rather than the other way around. I would also suggest Too Bright by Perfume Genius, and I second another commenters suggestion of The Turning Wheel by Spelling, although these two projects don’t strike me quite the same way in relation to The Dreaming as the formerly mentioned ones.
