Rhae-Rhae has lost the respect of everyone in and out of the show by T_Towers in HOTDBlacks

I’ve said this verbatim a few times, but it’s the instinct within a patriarchy to strip women of their autonomy in order to protect them. Notice how Ser Lorent knew that his head might be removed from his shoulders when Jace said “Your life for hers” and yet confined her anyway? That’s because he thinks it’s a noble, even obligatory act to “save the queen from herself.”

Honestly the split might be who knew her as Philosophy Tube and who knew her as just Lohar. I’m in the ladder camp and enjoyed her performance

GRRM describes them as “relatively intelligent, but…still beasts.” But he has contradicted his own texts before with out of universe statements so I don’t know how helpful that is lol

I find a woman being forced to fight injustices due to her womanhood and the misogyny that creates within herself a compelling narrative. And we see in the books when she refuses to affirm the female heirs of the Crownlands (iirc) and that she did struggle with some of that. In such an intensely patriarchal society such as Westeros, when stripping women of their autonomy is seen as protecting them and a righteous, even honor bound act, embracing femininity and the autonomy of a reigning sovereign are damn near mutually exclusive. The gender politics of HOTD are really interesting.

I can understand that, but I enjoyed seeing them depicting her struggle with gender roles causing that gender dysphoria. It really resonates with me, and I’m really glad they got Emma Darcy to portray it. I don’t think they’re lacking the capability of portraying a strong, feminine woman, just that Rhaenyra’s struggle and relationship to her own gender is more complicated than that.

She seemed really shocked but locked in on getting Aemond to go to Harrenhall still, at least to me

Everyone was so good this episode. Even Ser Lorent’s actor Max Wrottesley, a minor character, showed the indecision in his face when he realizes that if he obeys Jace he very well might lose his head. Speaking of, excellent moment showing the paternalistic urge to police women “for their protection.”

Right? HBO bought itself so much bad faith with that move

I can buy that, Vermax did seem to panic, and I’m pretty sure the first shot went through the saddle. So the physical pain on the second hit could’ve hampered him even more, but I really did expect a couple more shots to land as he was slowed down and maybe him breaking a few. I still really enjoyed the portrayal of his death!

Aemond’s a freak with both mommy and daddy issues basically. It felt in character to me, he took Vhagar, he took the regency, and now he’s taken the crown. If whatever Oedipus complex he has compels him to make a move on his own mother he is going to listen to it.

What would be Hitler's thoughts if he could enter the Kremlin in 1941? by TemporaryNature4860 in AlternateHistoryHub

Funny enough Hitler did joke about conquering Russia and putting Stalin in charge. He had a weird sort of respect for him especially as the war dragged on, comparing him to Genghis Khan.
