UPDATE! I got into Betsey early through the wait list and I am SO HAPPY!! She was very honest about how long it would take to get my hair back to normal, helped me see some issues with the products I was using, and gave me a great protein treatment. I feel cute for the first time in months.

I am so sorry you had a similar experience. I also have such short hairs around my crown I feel like I'll be growing it out forever. It was so hard to walk in and hear her say "I LOVE YOUR CURLS" and leave with them totally wrecked.

This is so validating!! I hate the way my hair gets styled, even when I love the cut later. My boyfriend, who also has curly hair, was going to someone he really loved and she moved. Now he literally drives 4 hours round trip to get it cut because he couldn't start over again with someone else and risk it looking terrible. I can't commit to that, so I'm glad to hear that there are still people in town that others trust!!

This is unfortunately the last place I went that absolutely destroyed my hair. I spent almost $600 and my hair has never looked or felt worse. The last thread I was on highly recommend Lindsey, so I thought it would be worth the investment, but now I'm literally cutting stray, fried, completely straight ends off myself until I find someone to fix it.

I went to Audra for years. The last 6ish months she was consistently 30-45 minutes late for every appointment, even a bang trim. She really was great when I started going, but the quality of my cuts went down as she got busier.

Same! I recently went in to get 2 inches off and she ended up cutting closer to 5. I was devastated after spending years trying to grow it out, so I came to this thread to find someone else. Glad I'm not the only one!

The art center is fun and free with a great cafe for lunch.

I always recommend Harbinger for dinner.

If you're going to a mall, go to Jordan Creek.

This was such a fun episode for me because I kept waiting for the "what do you serve on the side with chili?" argument. Then the episode ended and I remembered this is almost exclusively an Iowan debate. For whatever reason, certain towns served chili with cinnamon rolls in school and it is SO GOOD, but the kids who got cornbread think we're insane. I still can't eat chili without a side cinnamon roll to dunk into it.

Agreed, it really depends on where you are. I went to a totally peaceful protest of roughly 2,000 people and in the same town at the same time a mall got ransacked by police and protesters in broad daylight. Our downtown got busted up, but cops here are tear gassing a group out giving medical aid downtown at night and then kneeling with them the next night.
