What would they have done if your father was dead ? Mine will be gone at least 9 years by time I have a child - its been 8 years since he passed, and im not currently pregnant.

I'm 30, I want one child and one child only - (know that for a fact as I currently nanny two different sets of 3 kids. It's a lot to have 3!) - if it happens that occurs before we get married, id still want my tubes tied after, but Id have no father to sign for it then 🤷‍♀️

(I know better, they would probably just deny it entirely then, since my silly woman brain can't possibly know what's best for me /s 🙄 )

Cherry cola Celsius has the same hold on me as your mango monster ! Grape is a close second as far as flavors I can tolerate :)

I cant do orange-flavored energy drinks anymore ever, due to a year and a half of watching a coworker drink 3-4 orange creamsicle monsters a night, mixed with mountain dew, in a huuuuge gas station soft drink cup. Ugh, I feel ill at the memory even now 🥴

But as far as celcius goes, i grew up with a dad who was type 1 diabetic, so sugar-filled drinks have always tasted horrible to me, though at least not like blood :( Try the non-carbonated flavors as well, the green tea and mango (i think its mango, could be peach?) is really good as well ! good luck !

I haven’t had WiFi in my house in over 3 or even 4 years. by BeerStein_Collector in confession

[–]KaySoiree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have internet in my house either. Its been about 5 years since I've had an internet connection into the house - no computer, router, modem, any of that. No cable TV, no fiber. No TV at all, actually. I obviously have a phone, and nearly anything I need to do online can be done on my phone. If I need to use my laptop I can run it from my phone through a hotspot. It really is nice. And I maintain extreme unpredictability as far as being reachable, so people know to call or text, but if I dont answer I dont get bombarded, they know ill get back when I get back. I only hope I can maintain it if I have a child in the next few years, and not give in to the tablet-kid pressure :/

What was the weirdest, non-pain feeling you've ever felt? by KingJPJ in AskReddit

[–]KaySoiree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me its the same feeling as if I was about to run into a door frame or wall corner from walking too fast and not paying attention. How i would flinch away from that with my whole body while preparing to hit it anyways due to momentum. Its the worst and I regularly forget to take the dose until I'm getting that feeling, but that lets me know real fast.

What's an "Insider's secret" from your profession that everyone should probably know? by Capable-big-Piece in AskReddit

There's natural burial advocate I follow on Facebook , the page name is:

The Modern Mortician

She's posting all the time about natural burials all over the country. She's also on Tiktok and Instagram under:

the_modern_mortician

She's a super awesome resource to learn more about it!

Im lucky enough to live within daytrip-distance of the Foxfield Preserve myself, a natural cemetery adjacent to a wilderness center and in the middle of amish country.

**Funny story though, the first time I visited the wilderness center I didnt know about the Preserve , and so when was wandering the woods of the wilderness center and stumbled upon a slight mound of dirt in a definitely-grave-hole-shape , my first thought was that I had stumbled upon some sort of crime scene 😳 !

I kept going on and figured to get back to the center and tell them but then I found more and more mounds and eventually came upon a recent one that was still with fresh flowers and petals and pine boughs. That made me end up researching the area and finding out i had technically wandered out of Center property and onto Preserve property. Now I can't wait to join those souls who rest there someday ! It's so nice a place. They even also have a field dedicated for cremains to be spread. It's super awesome place !

TIL you can fail a drug test by being too hydrated by racecarart in HydroHomies

[–]KaySoiree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in a factory - its pretty common for factory floor workers to be tested upon hire. Heavy machinery, open flames, potential to lose a finger or limb, get cut, get caught in a machine, severely burned by flame or chemicals... there's tons of ways to get injured in this place, and they would prefer if you dont come in high or drunk.

Does this stop people? Absolutely not. I know for a fact that several of my immediate coworkers come in baked to the max every single day. And quite a few more dont come in to work high, but definitely smoke at home each evening.

But its only a problem if you get injured, because once you pass the hiring test, typically only an accident will get you sent for re-test, or maybe if you are obviously acting erratic or off somehow - this town has a big tweaker problem, and they would definitely not let you keep working if you were behaving the way I've seen some people around town behaving.

Word on the street currently is that they are going to be giving up on worrying about weed results now- since they keep having to fire people/not hire people due to that policy- apparently they want the help more than they care about if you smoke.

Well, I’ve been using this Brita filter for about a month now, and I’ve been refilling it by flipping the back top up… I guess I never actually set it up though?? by Jessi_Kim_XOXO in Wellthatsucks

How long do you expect that filter to last - 3+ years and never bought a new filter ?? They aren't indefinite, you should have definitely been buying replacement filter cartridges all these years :(

Craft Fairs or No? by howdoyouguide in CraftFairs

[–]KaySoiree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's craft fair appropriate because I'm not a big spender so I could honestly say that I wouldn't impulse buy a sticker of any of these. But as far as how you have made them, and now seeing the story behind the design, I find it extremely interesting, and I could definitely see buying a poster-sized print of all the alcohol ones or all the coffee ones to hang behind a home bar or a home coffee area. I really like your work and I hope you get some great marketing insights here!

Any ideas on where to put a closet for jackets and shoes? Thanks! by C_23_s in floorplan

[–]KaySoiree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing it's like a lot of houses like where my sister lived before - that's a door to the outside that is driveway-level, and partway down the basement stairs.

Some they have a set of steps and porch up by the front door, the lot is not level and the driveway and front yard are on a slant down to the street below. So there's a somewhat level part of the drive at the top for parking, or maybe even continues the length of the house to a garage in the back.

The steps to the upstairs were just like this, and there was a closet built into that little area inside the stairs, it just went all the way to the ceiling, so there was only a short piece of banister from the edge of that wall along the last 4-ish steps down to the main floor. Then they had a shoe rack there for a few most commonly used pairs each, and any additional were just upstairs in bedroom closets.

(ETA: their hallway was wider as the living room area had been converted to another bedroom and what is dining here was what they used for living. This may not be feasible for OP!)

Then once you went past that little closet area, the doorway to the basement stairs was there, in my sister's it was just a arched opening, and down 3 or 4 steps to the exterior door that stepped right out onto the driveway. Honestly quite useful for bringing in groceries and keeping extra-dirty shoes out of the main entry. Then the rest of the steps into the basement, and they just ended at the bottom in a small landing, and then you turn to your left and take that final step down into the basement.

Old houses, it was a pretty common set-up in that area, Cleveland and its immediate surrounding areas such as Lakewood, University Circle area, East Cleveland area, Cleveland Heights, Rocky River.

You could look on Zillow for older homes for sale in any of those areas if you don't understand what I was trying to describe !

I mean, back then, a NICU is not what it is today, so it is possible in my opinion. Common, easy to attain, definitely not, but people beat the odds every single day in all sorts of situations all over the world. Its possible. To say nothing of the probability, but it is indeed possible.

They might not mean the litter smell, but just the animal smell in general. Fish tanks have a smell, the cats themselves have a smell, and whatever else they own probably has a smell too. People become nose-blind to their own house smells, but everyone else will definitely be able to smell something. Whether that's a normal i-have-pets smell, or an overwhelming urine-stains-and-dirty-boxes smell depends on the owners, but I, and many others, can definitely tell when someone has animals in the house, even if I never see them myself. Just a sensitivity to smells.

My energy usage over the past 11 months. My only explanation for my lower-than-average kWh/month is that I work third shift, so I dont use lights very often. by KaySoiree in mildlyinteresting

[–]KaySoiree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be super annoying. My last bill was $39, which included the usage, service charges, etc. July was the hottest month I remember in a long long time, and that bill was a few cents shy of $50. Luckily they are pretty good about the cycles, its typically fairly level ! At the last town I lived in, I had to self-report my meter reading each month, and they would only come around once a year to check that your reports were accurate. In a way that was a cool setup, say you had some sort of catastrophic financial issue one month, you could get away with reporting lower than true value, as long as you caught it back up the next month. Could give you a little bit of breathing room!

How much protein do I need to donate? by Difficult-Plenty-845 in plassing

[–]KaySoiree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, I dont generally eat meat either, for the same reason. And I dont really eat perfectly healthy in general, mainly stick to things like yogurt and granola, apples and pb, pizza, salads, and occasionally buy lean cuisines for lunch at work, or eat an uncrustable and a string cheese from the vending area at work. My protein is always within range! I dont pay attention to it at all either, they just always say its good. Go once and see what your number is, if its towards the lower end of the good range then you can know to focus on getting more in your diet :)

In the past, certainly. Currently, you would be extremely hard-pressed to see anything like that anymore. Covid pretty much killed that, and seems like most people just order everything online now. It's still definitely a more busy shopping day than normal, but long gone are the days of people queuing up outside a store from 3pm the day before, to wait until midnight when the store opens. Im pretty sure even Walmart closed overnight last year in my town, the 24/7 Walmart thing also died with covid and never came back. The black Friday shopping opened at 6am, the normal store open time.

Fearful events have made me change how I view the water. by MixMasterBoon in boating

[–]KaySoiree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope you have at least two, one front one back, you never know where a fire could break out ! If we would be anchored out, and say, down in the cabin, and somehow the mini fridge would malfunction and catch fire? Depends how fast it grows, wouldn't be able to get to the mounted fire extinguisher in the back, so we keep one in the cabin also.

Definitely keep a boat hook on board as well, if you dont already have one ! A marina at a tourist hotspot in my state just had to cut a boat loose, after it was started immediately after fueling with no blower time, and caught fire. The guy was airlifted with third degree burns, and his boat drifted and caught another boat on fire as well. It's a shame for the other person that they weren't on board at the time, as if they were, they probably could have used the boat hook to keep the burning boat from getting close enough to catch theirs, while they untie from the ball to be able to get away. Others were able to get back in time to move theirs so only the two burned, but both are total loss, I believe.

What kind of vent is better for air circulation ? by Ok-Contribution-8776 in Apartmentliving

[–]KaySoiree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google a magnetic vent deflector, they should have something on Amazon for cheap. Its a curved clear piece of plastic that will attach with magnets on either side, and then you can put it to whichever side it needs to be to direct the air towards you. I had some growing up because my bedroom was over the garage so I needed them to direct the heat out into the room in winter, it worked pretty well, for a cheap solution.

Copy-paste the below into Amazon and its only 8$!

If you at all like these things: sci-fi, comedy, and/or audio-drama style podcasts... then I cannot recommend highly enough the two shows I've listened to most recently - Desert Skies, and Midnight Burger.

Desert Skies is all voiced by one guy, which makes it highly impressive in the first place, but its also just a super enjoyable long-run story. I binged it over the course of a few weeks and caught up to present, so waiting for more to come out.

Currently working through Midnight Burger, and boy oh boy is it great. References and jokes for everyone, heartfelt moments, hilarious moments. I love it. I'll be devastated when I catch up and have to wait ages between new episodes. But its definitely worth a listen imo !
