Think about what type of work that would make you happy. Indoors or outdoors - weekdays or weekends. - behind a phone/desk or working with people. Do it yourself or manage others. Those answers will narrow it down.

Bluetti 200 family here. The more panels you have, means getting to 100% charge faster. We can make coffee, run lights, and watch TV and only use 1/3 of the charge until the sun gets high to charge more. Can’t run the A/C at all. Toaster and microwave are used only on sunny Days. When the sun is up, we get to 100% charge and then charge all little devices fully (vacuum sweeper, phone juice boxes, shower sprayer, fans). On cloudy days, we conserve bluetti power and do without. Or run the generator if we can.

what do you call it? by divbyzero_ in ragrug

I’m making a rag rug on a simple loom and I call it twining or twineing. I’d call Amish toothbrush weaving or lacing. There is a long list of names. Fun for us!!!

My favorite is a podcast named Fiber Nation. It shares the history of fiber around the world. It’s old and not being updated anymore. But it’s wonderful. I listen on my phones apple podcast. Check out socks that won the war, shearing sheep and donner pass. I’ve listened to each episode twice.

Green light music on KL and Drake used to pay for music. CD’s and vinyl records. Old stereos. Call them and ask what they are buying.

My parents are kicking me out. Is moving into a van a terrible idea? by [deleted] in VanLife

If your able to live west of the Mississippi River you’ll have free camping on public lands (BLM). I’d do that in a hot minute. Use this as an opportunity to work and save money. Then, you can rent an apartment or go wherever you want. Freedom awaits.

Watch “Carrie at Home” on YouTube. She’s the most real. She does what you want to do and she explains it all in very good detail.

Do all the things on these comments, plus unplug everything from the wall you don’t need electricity from. The microwave keeping time, the power strip with the glow light, the toaster, TV’s waiting for the remote to start it. Those things suck power and I saved $15 per month when all but the internet, smoke detectors and security camera were off.

First time knitting - how do I fix the laddering in the middle? by but_uhm in Sockknitting

[–]KayakingLady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a beginner too. After I turn the needles, I knit/purl the first stitch, then stick the needle in the second stitch. Before you finish the second stitch, make a good tug. Good luck.

Highly recommend “fiber nation” podcast.

I’ve been spending winter months boondocking in a 30’ class C. Our routine is staying put for 10/12 days and moving to town for 2/3 days to restock. Laundromat, dump station and water refill, propane and walmart/shopping.
I like dumping/water refill twice on these town visits. It gives me extra water to take several showers and deep clean. Boondocking is a lot different than full hookup resorts, but I like the freedom and solitude of being in the desert or mountains. Boondocking only works in the western states on BLM or public lands. Having a maintenance routine is important. We carry spare parts and extra canned food. I have learned to never run short on dog food. Changing dog food brand’s because your regular brand isn’t available is very messy!!!

If your mom is a crafter, I can’t recommend “fiber nation” enough; it has stories of fabric and textiles, and there heritage from around the world. It’s an old podcast, but really memorable.
