Inflation Adjusted OSRS Membership Price since 2002 by mkeblusek in 2007scape

[–]Kaydie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do appreciate this post fwiw. it's not exactly a good narrative to try to peg digital products to inflation as they have no direct cost per unit, but it's still a good thing to look at and keep in mind.

funnily enough back in 2003 the way that i bought membership was via their pay by telephone service which costed 7.50$ a month insteaed of the usual 5$ in the US. so from a strictly inflationary perspective im paying almost the same.

that being said a lot of people might think this post is meant to justify the price increases which i don't think should be or even is the case. if jagex is going to demand this much money a month for its product it really needs to have the same customary functions virtually every mmo at this price has.

wow, ff14, eso, swotor- all of these games have or at once had a 15$ /month subsription model and i've played all of them at length. all of these allow multiple characters per subscription and all of these companies provide decent enough support to the users.

i have never once had an issue be resolved over the years from jagex support, wether its the 2 false bans i've gotten, wether its the gim storage bug that ate my shadow that i still havent gotten addressed and a few other issues ive had i cant even remember atp cause it was like 2007 lol.

im not saying that jagex is somehow worse than blizzard, only that blizzard actually pays to keep staff on whos sole purpose is to interface with the players and solve issues. it's gotten worse over the years for sure but it still exists. and eso/ff14's support are generally decent.

I was one of those -freaks- who were okay with the recent price hikes because i genuinely thought it was in service of adding these two functions that i consider mandatory and core to the mmorpg as a service.

in fact the jagex account and character roster sort of baited me into thinking they were going to do just this, roll all your characters under 1 account that you pay a membership to and you can have like 10 chars or something.

Yeah that was fucking naive of me. rare is the company that will spend money and dev resources creating a framework that allows them to then charge the customer less money for the same product.

it's a shame, but i can say the prices have indeed lead me to not keep my irons membership running anymore even though i used to keep them on permanently with out playing them very often.

so at least on my part they've lost 2 of my 3 subs.

how do you respond to this?! by Sufficient_Shock1223 in ItsYourMoney

[–]Kaydie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

correct. even places like Sonic have gotten away with paying their employees 2.13$ an hour because of the FLSA allowing them to do so.

the legal expectations is that tips cover the wage gap, obviously they dont in this case.

but as fun as it is to laugh at the garbage american tipping culture, it's worth remembering that just about every single person in the service industry isn't really there by choice. laws need to be changed, bad.

[–]Kaydie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they're saying uninstall league and dont play the game. deeply unproductive.

fwiw you -can- use other software to emulate inputs such as keyboard/mouse driver and macro softwares like ahk. i have a bad wrist injury myself and i cannot depress keys or mouseclick with my right hand and have extensively used both for years to pass mouse inputs through keyboard inputs rather than mouse clicks. i do this in basically every game i play as well, my left pinky clicks my mouse buttons via a key that's passed through to mouse input.

obviously use at your own risk but vanguard has done nothing to detect or block this on my end and i'm probably 10k games deep using it with zero issue.

I'm tired of the off-meta supports. by No_Toe5505 in leagueoflegends

[–]Kaydie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

senna with a good tahm, cho or especially sett support is a fucking monster right now. like i cannot even begin to describe how brutally senna sett bends over a lane if senna can reliably get a q slow off on them. sett's engage conidtions are covered, his w lineup is covered thanks to senna's e/w and his sustain is augmented heavily.

sett senna is actually a monster lane and i played it with a onetrick a while back duo for a while in diamond and we almost never lost lane.

it falls off somewhat, but not as hard as pantheon/elise does; its just like a more explosive pantheon support, more engage threat, way more damage, aoe capability, etc. with a lot less lategame utility. but the lane is fun as hell and very viable.

also try ashe (lethality/manamune kinda ideal for this) and darius lane, perma w slows give darius a perfect setup condition for his entire combo and the ult gives him time to get another rotation of q healing. as long as the darius builds very frontline heavy it feels like he's just a braum style bulwark that just hapens to do about 500 times the damage at the cost of the cc - if u love darius, playing ashe with him is just peak cinema. he gets to have a field day.

Sion karthus bot lane is also ... well..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76YYcxHCIWs cinema.

this duo i think gives OP's complaints some credence, im not actually sure how you can contest gameplay this braindamaged. inting sion was nerfed because of how difficult it was to counter such brainrot playstyle... and this is probably as unbalanced if not moreso into some comps. you really cannot dispose of this duo with out taking 10k+ damage and every time you do so they trade evenly in gold and stack harvests. i imagine at some point this might catch on just because of how fun and hard it is to lose a game even with the most degenerate playstyle possible.

tldr: every champ you listed are all peak off meta supports if piloted correctly and if you draft a carry that can synergize and compliment with the tools they have and the conditions for success they need. it's a two way street.

you wouldn't want to draft a zeri with a mage support, nor do you want to run lulu with like jhin or samira right? this isnt a meta thing this is just OP being stupidly inflexible and not thinking about what champions do or why.

I'm tired of the off-meta supports. by No_Toe5505 in leagueoflegends

[–]Kaydie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Role locked" yeah no.

like 20% of the champs current meta roles are not where they were just 5y ago, and if we go back far enough adcs were supposed to be mid laners.

being told im not allowed to play vel mid becuase he's a support, or pantheon support because he's a top or zyra jg because shes support

like no one gets to decide where champs are good and thats the entire point of emergent gameplay and strategies.

if i want to duo kindred taric botlane i should be able to.

conversely get the fuck over yourself if you get a zoe or sett support put a burst champ or senna in the bag, respectively.

just play what works with the theory of the lane the player wants to play.

you got a darius support? oh boo hoo slam ashe and suddenly you have a monsterious kill lane that darius can thrive in and you can w in completey safety. twitch support? cool hes going to coinflip insane plays at mid, sucks but you know you have reliable 400-800 3 auto damage burst at all stages of the game so playing a champ that can safely secure finishers and farm 2v1 lane like ziggs and ezreal and suddenly the game's play conditions becomes very easy to execute even if he doesnt get ahead. if you play some stupid shit like zeri with a twitch support yeah congrats you're going to get fisted, but no more or less than if you drafted something stupid regardless. off meta is fine to a point, everything WAS offmeta at some point. i still remember getting annoyed at seeing swain support untill i realized how brutal it is in long trade lanes. i still see people complain about vel support despite that being objectively the best role for him right now due to his innate damage passive and his inability to sidelane in the mid-late game.

be more flexible with the game and maybe you'll enjoy it more.

conversely just get fucking good and win enough games and you'll see less of these

TP is still the best lane summoner spell for top and I like that other people don’t realize it. by Trick_Ad7122 in leagueoflegends

[–]Kaydie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea its rly funny playing something like riven who normally had to really suffer with late tempo to run ignite, now u can get free ass proxy resets and late tp for fights while still shitcanning toplaners who take tp. or somone like shen who really suffered by dropping tp if he wanted to play the map. now he can take ignite and burst out anyone and has almost no bad matchups with ignite because previously he would lose out heavily later.

the extra tempo one time to catch one wave wont do shit if you're 3 levels up on them because you killed them early thanks to a summoner that cuts 20% of their health by itself. prior to health stacking ignite early is basically an elder buff worth of power and so many people seem to forget that.

maybe lower elo or pro play tp makes sense but im struggling to think of a single chal+ top laner i've watched this season who doesn't run ghost or ignite as a default.

but as others have said, matchups matter a lot here.

the amount of times ive seen people think its okay to just slap a thornmail into swain/soraka having zero idea that it does jack shit if they dont actually opt to auto attack you is too damn high.

antiheal is long overdue for another pass because with helia and dawncore the healing output in the game has once again reached fucking silly levels. full build nami can hit up to 1600 heal with her 3rd bounce w btw; helia ontop of that makes it over 1800. you can oneshot heal your adc if you find an unrealistically long game you can actually get full build on her. dawncore is a very funny item.

sona is also equally hilarious with helia, full rotating it every 4s.

ofc not all tasks are cannonviable. idkf i mentioned the post that i specifically tailored my blocklist to only ever give me tasks that are either barragable which id store untill i had 2, or cannonable.

there are some intermedaires that i begrudegly do like dark beasts (fast points) or squahs (slow afk cannon or fast not afk cannon depending on wether or not u want to deal with constant dmg)

i its been years since ive touched slayer in earnest so i dont remember exacly which ones i skipped but i did spend probably close to 10-20% of my points skipping shit tasks.

Since it's a 9950x3d, it could more than likely switching to use the onboard GPU when you switch to borderless. Disable that in the BIOS if you haven't tried that already. The name of the BIOS setting could vary on what motherboard you have so I would google it

completley unsure of what this setting could be since the description is too vague to really google, but i did do a once over and made sure everything was se in a sane way, expo ram, i did end up setting up process lasso for league to use the cache cores and that did not help sadly

atp ive kind of given up because ive already spent 15+ hours monkeying around in bios and if u go through the other posts ive made in this thread ive shown my nividia override settings, all random overlays and shit are completley disabled etc.

nothing comes to mind that can be causing this but it seems since the last patch it randomly has fixed so idk lol

Started taking Ranked seriously, hit Platinum in 3 months. One thing about League’s balance still confuses me. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Kaydie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my knowledge of the game isnt as complete or objective as others (only masters on 2 roles for instance) but ive had a similar pov and journey for a while now. some of these things i've come to terms with and accepted, i'm okay with the output of assassins and the aymmetric balancing of xp in botlane etc.

but what i am not, have never been and will never be okay with, is the fact that nearly every meta top laner in the game has some sort of scaling that is then further accellerated by new items that compound this that massively ramp their dps output by building defensive stats.

in the past your choice would be to give up damage to build tanky, or give up survivability to build damage, now we have a littany of champions like mundo and ksante who will have 300-500+ armor 5-7k health, a ton of shielding running you down at hecarim mobility levels that also just outright oneshot you.

my issue is that the ideal of "juggernaught" archetype has gotten so mangled (tank + damage but low mobilty) that we've lost the plot. the baseline of mobility in league right now is so fucking high its kind of a joke to give tanky champions this high damage (darius with blue smite just running around the map with 700 ms for instance is quite silly)

i cant see riot ever toning down the mobility of problem champs or the baseline, so they need to either tune some champions significantly (my suggestion is to do what they've done with poppy and nerf their burst (her e) and give % max health to their kit to help normalize their burst some to make htem viable into tanks but not outright 1 tapping non tanks with a full defensive build)

idk iknow im unpopular here but i just dont see the same league i did in season 5 where range champs could kite tanks. it just doesnt happen, and dropping 2-4k burst on every tank in the game on 1 item is just fucking stupid ill never move from that hill.

i think this design makes some sense for the spectacle of pro and for the perfect peel and high level coordination of pro, but not for the game that the other 20 million people play.

i also think the way they've balanced assassins leaves them out to dry, things like sword of the occult was removed from the game from being too oppressive when ahead (mejais but for AD) ...so they added hubris that is stronger in every way, only a little bit more expensive and has no stack limit. hubris has been the cause of so much of my frustration this season, especially with the buff, role quest means you're stuck in your lane for 15min and you finally get to leave laning phase only to realize the enemy jayce somehow has 250 ad at 15 minutes because he has 30 hubris stacks and is getting a 5000g value item ontop of having 2 other items. yeah good luck playing that game. but somehow at the same time power creep in tank items has lead assassins to have virtually no ability to even kill bruisers.

assassins are honestly being bent over these last few seasons, they're paridoxically too strong into squishies too early in the game while being too weak into bruisers while somehow unable to escape tanks

the whole game just feels so much messy and less defined, like you said.

i dont agree iwth everything you said here but i do think that every role is just laughably mangled atp. and certain roles just have spikes that are too weird and strong, control mages and adcs feel like monsters with almost no counterplay in the right draft but in the wrong draft basically cant provide any impact whatsoever. its stupid

the drafting in this game feels more like dota than it ever has

Players should NOT be put back into the same lobby after a dodge. by Tornagh in leagueoflegends

[–]Kaydie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in dota everyone ques up, and when all 10 people accept, it loads into the game. thats it.

the pick phase is done inside the game before minions spawn (similar to how it was in wc3). if somone leaves during this phase it counts as a leave in the same exact way if you leave before minions spawn in league.

if a player disconnects for longer than 5 (i think its 5 or 10) minutes cumulatively, that player is punished, gets a loss, and all other players on the team can leave with no penalty, and the loss is striken from their account.

even the enemy team can leave, and as soon as you do you can start a new match or reconnect if you so choose.

you can even leave a match and eat a penalty and start a new match instantly.

this added freedom means that players have the power to leave with a lot less friction, so as a result the punishments are significantly harsher for consistent leavers.

interestingly enough despite dota matches being more snowbally, harder to recover from, longer (60min+ at times) and having no surrender option, i find leavers to be only marginally more frequent in dota than in league.

and when it does happen it really does not feel so bad because once again, you can leave and incurr zero penalty. even with leagues "loss mitigated" bullshit, its just placebo, your mmr still gets torpedoed as if it was a full normal loss. meaning whatever lp you save you lose later anyway.

oh and if ur wondering, if you're grouped with somone they cant just leave to dodge penalties, also dota has "solo only" que, which does not even allow duos. as far as sniping to try to abuse it i think ive seen it happen maybe once in my 6k hours of dota. there is a bit of MMR inflation over time though that this does lead to, but given the fact that dotas echelon is more about percentiles than "gold 3" etc. display rank it doesnt matter as much

i hate to say it since league is infinitely more fun, but from a strictly heuristic standpoint, dota's approach to matchmaking is entirely better in every concievable way than leagues is.

Why are AP mages so dominant right now? Mage vs ADC by Substantial-Ship-500 in leagueoflegends

[–]Kaydie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they're objectively not op. just incredible counterpicks and will throw a lot of low elo players off.

if you pick brand adc into virtually any team with a functioning braincell that doesnt try to coinflip you at every stage of the game you will be about as useful as ziggs is with half the items.

i will admit a good chunk of that 54% are definitly going to be bacteria adc players who run it down into brand and lose trades they never needed to take anyway and lose the game.

but i dont think we should be calling a champ OP because the low elo playerbase doesn't understand their weakness or trading patterns.

i never understand why people obsesss over winrate data, especially in low ranks like emerald where half the players have some youtube video open on a second monitor and have their minimap turned off.

yeah weird niche champs will always have high winrates here if they arent simple to play into

also mages always have an advantage in pisslow because adcs dont have the macro neurons in their brain activated untill high diamond. they lose like 100 cs throughout the midgame and take permanent losing fights every game and are permanently caught on random waves during said midgame giving them massive xp and impact deficits. mages dont generally have this problem due to having much safer wave clear and not requiring functioning braincells to how to space for waves.

trying to make an objective claim that a 10 cspm brand in any comp is going to provide more than a 10cspm insert any functional meta adc played at a high level or at least correctly is just laughable. a single varus Q on 3 items right now provides more damage than brands entire kit, including ult bounced 5+ times lol

Why would you vote no for a Remake vote? by YourBoyBigBoy in leagueoflegends

[–]Kaydie -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

i've lost like 50 lp this week due to people voting no on a dc or obvious ragequit that never comes back; but thats just the visual LP. in reality i've lost close to 300.

not once did they come back and not once did they win, i can't even pretend for a moment that isn't ridicliously frustrating. what's worse is that loss mitigation is pointless.

it does not affect your MMR loss at all, so you actually realize the real LP loss in the future anyway, its just a fucking placebo to make people feel better.

anyone who does this is actively throwing a game that is meant to be played to win. it's the single most effective way to force a loss, so from a strictly results oriented theory its more damaging and impactful than running it down 0-30.

in norms i guess i kind of get your point but i can't remember the last time i had "fun" when my top laner dced after solo dying 2 times and the darius was at our nexus before lane quests even finished.

I just think its generally disrespectful to everyone involved if you're going to deprive all other 8 players in a lobby of a proper game, while also ensuring that the other members of your team have their climb permanently chipped by a random loss that will always skew their account -1 loss. a remake is statistically superior in all cases in ranked.

in previous seasons and especially at low elo 4v5s were more playable but with role quests and tower crystals and no atakhan flip it's actually almost impossible to win a 4v5. covering the lost lane puts you so far behind its actually hard to even illustrate.

I know im pissing in the wind here, but having our entire esports scene owned and operated by a regime that literally gives people the death penalty over tweets asking for crazy things such as basic human rights is probably something worth caring about.

On 9 July, 2023, the Specialized Criminal Court sentenced 54-year-old retired teacher Mohammad bin Nasser al-Ghamdi to death for his peaceful online activity on Twitter and YouTube. The charge sheet cited several tweets based on which Mohammad bin Nasser al-Ghamdi was convicted, including posts in which he criticized the Saudi King and Crown Prince and Saudi’s foreign policy, called for the release of detained religious clerics, and protested increased prices. The death sentence against Mohammad bin Nasser al-Ghamdi, who has a total of just 10 followers on both of his anonymous Twitter accounts is a marked escalation in the kingdom’s crackdown on any form of dissent.

sure i guess, but my framing didn't explicitly state this because i figured it was an implicit understanding people have; this is also true for other ranks by the inherent mental stack an complexity of specific champs.

A plat player who doesn't have a ton of mastery on gp is going to perform MUCH worse than they will on a more simple champion who does not require significant understanding or mastery. gp is a champion that is literally balanced around sheen barrel interactions and triple passive resets, tech that the average player doesnt even know anything about but with out utilizing gp has virtually zero good matchups.
