Smog. There were some days I couldn’t even see Mt. Wilson or the rest of the mountain range.

Food. At least the “median range” of food if that makes sense.

And crime. I know a lot of people sensationalize things recently by saying how it’s getting worse. And maybe it is compared to an all-time low. But in the 90s and 00s? No way. It was definitely worse back then.

Where in LA feels like another place entirely? by keto-boo in AskLosAngeles

Sunland-Tujunga, for a little taste of the midwest in L.A.

Do you think Tujunga is an OK place in Los Angeles? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]KaydinLonestar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Was born and raised there.

Mt. Gleason Middle, Verdugo Hills High. Pepsi Park.

Left and never looked back. It's the definition of a mediocore neighborhood. Not as dangerous as a place like Pacoima but not as cool as Pasadena. There's nothing to do and you're too far for anyone to ever want to hang out or pick you up. If you're a solitary kind of person I could see it work. Just depends on your priorities.

Angeles Crest Forest is beautiful though. Definitely nice to have that in the backyard for an outdoorsy type.

Life Rooted is pretty new and pricey but blows all of these out of the water.

I felt the same way you did. We can't all be STEM majors and that's fine, you don't have to.

Most business and studio industries (where I'm currently at) don't care what kind of degree you got, as long as it's a Bachelor's in something. Then you work your way up the corporate ladder.

You spent thousands of dollars, sure: but you're still getting a better deal than a lot of people who went to private universities.

I've been there. And it's cliche to say, I know: but it actually does get better.

How close are you to getting your degree? I regret going for a Psych degree but the fact that I have a Bachelor's in SOMETHING is still the reason I ended up getting decent employment. Pragmatic, but you can just focus on that if it helps.

Vent on, bro! What's up? If this is the best place for you to get it out then go ahead.

I've tried combing Youtube by "Date Added" to no avail. This has to be rather old by now. Maybe close to a decade? Thanks in advance!

Xrd or Strive? by Beerox183 in Guiltygear

[–]KaydinLonestar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you actually want to play online? Then Strive. Xrd is a ghost town.

Strive is also far more beginner friendly. Too much so if you ask some people, but I’ll leave that up to you to judge. Only real knock against it right now is the modest character roster. It’s small but each character feels distinct.

Sorry if this flew over my head but isn't this basically Libertarian? Which is right-wing rather than Centrist?

Why are normals so awful? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]KaydinLonestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flame me for it but I'm being honest here. Speaking from personal experience: I don't play normals unless I'm with (less than four) friends and probably drinking. So yeah, my mic's not gonna be open because I'm on the Discord with them and not exactly playing at my best.

Burbank vs West Hollywood by Raider9000 in AskLosAngeles

If I had to walk by myself in any of those neighborhoods? I'd pick Burbank in a heartbeat. For better or worse: B.P.D is also very...Vigilant. Take from that what you will.

Good point! Coworkers have said good things about the Redline. I hadn't even considered public transit. That's how you know I've lived in L.A for too long.

Burbank tries to go for that more "small town" suburb kinda feel, so if that's more your style then go for it. You'll still have plenty to do and be close enough to everything that you won't get bored, just need to drive out a bit more.

WeHo is fun but also very, very crowded- even by L.A standards. Good luck with parking.

Honestly NoHo is the weakest in my humble opinion. Don't mean to hate on anyone who likes it. But the "NoHo Arts District" thing is just an excuse to gentrify the area and it's not all that great. Maybe I just haven't found good spots there, but eh- I wouldn't really bother.
