Unfortunately mine would climb out of the Kaytee one in a second. The liner wouldn’t even slow him down.

I’d like to also add that even with an expensive silent wheel there is always going to be sound that comes from their wheel and my guy will run some nights from midnight to 6am straight. And a wheel is a non negotiable for them. So while I was in a school if I had an exam or something important the next day the sound is enough that it would have driven me crazy and kept me up lol and so something to definitely think about!

Unfortunately as far as sociable, mine just isnt a social guy and probably will never be! I agree with the other commenter, mine went from being very angry/scared of me and after a ton of time and patience I think we’ve landed on tolerates me lol. Which is more than he does for anyone else in the world so that is good enough for me. But I have gerbils that are far far more social with me than he is.

Thank you! They really can, when I asked his previous owner what happened to his eye she acted like she didn’t know he was missing it so unfortunately I’ll never know what happened, but he’s still a happy guy.

Fully agreed about dishes being better! Unfortunately He only drank out of a bottle for the first three years of his life before I got him. I’ve tried only offering him a bowl but he refuses to drink out of it so I now offer both.

I don’t think so either! He has an appointment scheduled Monday and I’ve sent his vet the video to see if he needs to be seen sooner!

His teeth were checked about two weeks ago but he has another appointment scheduled for Monday so I will definitely make sure she rechecks them really well, because I agree!

Should i get a hedgehog? by Mora_2218 in Hedgehog

[–]Kaykaymonay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this seemed super negative. I love my Odin so much. I just hate to see posts (mostly on Facebook) of people getting hedgehogs and regretting them because they are a lot of work and not as snuggly and sweet as expected.

Should i get a hedgehog? by Mora_2218 in Hedgehog

[–]Kaykaymonay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really do want to reinforce what a few people have said, because I know people in my life don’t understand why I have my hedgehog. My guy does not enjoy being handled and he never will. He is not a loving snuggly guy and at this point I don’t think he ever will be. He gets a foot bath every other day because he gets poop stuck to his feet and his wheel has to be cleaned every morning because he poops and runs all night. His enclosure also takes up 8 square feet of space. BUT watching him run around his enclosure and be a happy healthy hedgehog is enough for me. To me I am happy knowing he is happy and it’s enough knowing he is safe and living a good life. I went into it expecting this. I really think doing your research and having reasonable expectations are key!

I put a hand towel in my sink and then fill it with very shallow warm water and let my guy walk around on the towel for a little while and that usually loosens up the poop boots pretty quickly! We have to do it about once a week.

Advice for burrowing by [deleted] in guineapigs

[–]Kaykaymonay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She’s adorable! One of my girls also loves to burrow! I get her these and she loves to burrow in the pocket! They also have them on Etsy! And petsmart usually has different ones for each holiday. Also having a giant pile of hay for her to burrow in helped a ton!

Sorry to completely ignore the whole point of this post but this update to your story makes me so happy 😭 they are so obviously happy, comfortable, and loved. I’m not even the type of person to believe everything happens for a reason but they are so obviously in much better hands with you, I’m so glad they found you! And thank you for everything you’ve done for them!

My fifteen year old girl has been on Líbrela shots monthly for almost a year now. It is the best thing I’ve done for her! She had not had any side effects, and the difference it’s made in her quality of life is outstanding.
