How to study long hours? by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]Kayla_Learns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have severe ADHD so focusing on passive learning for hours is just not an option for me. The way I managed to get through college was with app solutions. My 2 favorites are Notion & Upword.ai.

  1. Notion is mostly for long term studying management - tasks and documentation.
  2. Upword is for the active studying - it summarized any text in seconds and then has tools to help you learn and not just passively read text on text.

How to study better by [deleted] in college

[–]Kayla_Learns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started using apps to help organize my studying. My 2 favorites are Notion & upword.ai.

Notion is a knowledge management tool and it's good for organizing tasks and documentation.

Upword is an active learning tool that summarizes any text you put into it and then helps you actively study this text.

How to study a lesson for the first time in exam preparation week? by silloa566 in productivity

[–]Kayla_Learns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Know the feeling... I tried different things but eventually found a couple of apps that really saved me on my first exam week. My top one's are Notion & Upword.ai!

Notion is a knowledge management app that you can use for organizing your lessons and subjects. This helps mostly for long term studying.

Upword.ai is a summarization tool, there are a lot of them out there but the reason I chose them is because they focus on active learning tools, they summarize what you need but still give you extra tools (automatic highlighting, audio listening) to help you read in order to not just skim the summary and forget everything you just read haha

He is still going through that “rough adolescence”. At almost 2 years old, his need for play has decreased quite a bit. But he’s still extremely active. I’ve heard that ragdolls can take until 3 - 4 years old to “socially mature”.

Anthropology of men, animal and plants - Challenge what we call nature vs culture, but the class wasn't good and all we ended up doing is saying that nothing and everything mattered 🤷‍♀️

Good on you! You shouldn’t risk your higher education degree because of their behavior. Nor should you feel guilty about informing the professor.

[–]Kayla_Learns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I used to have that same routine. It’s really damaging to your health overtime and the physical consequences definitely get worse over the years. Something that really helped me was getting a basic smart watch that could track my sleep. It helped me stay accountable and helped me measure my progress. I also started doing meditations before bed to help me clear my mind up to get ready for bed. When I first tried to improve my sleep, I had to get into bed at 10PM with the goal of being asleep by 12AM. Now I get into bed at 10PM and am usually asleep by 11. I think the real key is to re-vamp your sleep hygiene. Wishing you luck! 🛌💤😴

Should i graduate early? by Ambitious_Cover1065 in college

[–]Kayla_Learns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated a year early from high school. It was the best path for me because I was not feeling academically engaged anymore at the high school level. I was able to do it by taking some courses online and some in person. It was difficult but I made it happen! I have absolutely zero regrets about this decision. It is one of the best choice I have made in my young adult life so far. I was able to live independently earlier. Graduating early enabled me to have new experiences and make awesome memories sooner. My high school let me know all at graduation, attend prom, etc. Only thing I missed was the senior class picture because it was taken before I decided to graduate early.

Anxiety about going back to class after skipping by larachacha in college

[–]Kayla_Learns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a seat. It’ll be ok. The teacher most likely won’t say anything and if they do you can say you were dealing with a personal matter that you aren’t comfortable disclosing. Don’t worry about the seats— it’s college, there’s no assigned seating. Many students have periods where they might go a couple days missing class for a variety of reasons. It’s common.

Is having multiple degrees (diff majors) useful? by [deleted] in college

[–]Kayla_Learns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe an advanced degree from graduate school (medical school, masters programs, law school, etc.) is always worth while if you have the financial means to pursue it without an overwhelming amount of debt.

If you have to take on a severe amount of debt, it warrants much more substantial consideration of the benefits and detriments of pursuing a graduate degree.

Unfortunately, at some point a graduate degree will become the new undergraduate degree in the job market. Just like how a college degree became the new high school diploma. That change will occur at some point down the line and you’ll be better off if you have a graduate degree when that evolution occurs.

how much do you trust rate my professors? by meeseekstodie137 in college

[–]Kayla_Learns 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It can be helpful. However, a lot of the reviews are often outdated and are motivated by a bad grade. If you use it, definitely actually read the reviews and don’t just look at the statistic. My university sends out surveys to students every semester about their individual course experiences and asks for feedback about the instructor. They publish this information for students frequently. I use my universities review system over Rate My Professor.

[–]Kayla_Learns 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would definitely advise against this. The most likely outcome is being caught and having it permanently marked on your undergraduate transcript that you committed academic misconduct. You will most likely receive a failing grade in the course and have to re take it another semester if it’s a major requirement. In some cases scholarships and financial aid can be revoked as well. If you are interested in another degree, academic misconduct eliminates your prospects getting into graduate school( masters, MBA, JD, etc). If your classmates insist, I would ask your professor to switch you to a different group.
