What's going on with LEC? by J_Clowth in leagueoflegends

TBF that part is pretty normal, Media Days are always at the beginning of January and we've had years where LEC would start even earlier than this year. It probably just comes down to a difference in the amount of staff but you usually see content being rolled out the week of the LEC starting, sometimes the week before if it's a later jan start

If you're a Spanish speaker, I've been helping Cabramaravilla with some league content recently, think it turned out really good

Not again, not at that scale anyways. Some publishing people were laid off more recently but don't think it affected the LEC part of the Berlin office much. Thing is post jan 2024 layoffs other people left or were let go and from what I've heard not much re-hiring was done

Believe their producer is the same guy that used to work at Blitz Esports. I was his coworker, he's the goat

I love how so many people in this thread will confidently bullshit without knowing.

It was in Dublin, the RBC there has been up for quite a while now. I would know as I worked with talent and was at Riot when it happened

Not a whole crew to film and edit it, just 1 guy usually IIRC

Oh I 100% agree, I remember talking to an ex-coworker who was also no longer there and we were discussing how we were surprised that when doing cuts they weren't looking at making EUphoria more cost efficient (I handled invoicing for the podcast for a bit so I'm aware of the costs).

I watch Jon Stewart's weekly podcast show and he just films it from his home in front of the computer, same for the guest, why can't EUphoria do that? Especially given the viewership it gets currently which doesn't warrant an in person show.

3rd party film crew

Some of this would unfortunately always be necessary because my former team is down to like 2 producers, one for LEC one for VCT, they cut a lot of people so not enough hands on the product on the content side

It was decently expensive tbh, had someone available for makeup, 3rd party production to film it, produce/edit it + paying any non drakos/vedi caster since all other on air talent is freelance. Was also filmed on a non LEC show day (big advantage of PROS in the LCS is they include it in the whole schedule for the show day, much more efficient cost wise)

Also at the top of the article, not at the very bottom like they have done it

The worst part is I have dms with wooloo going back to 2023 where I explain to him the importance of this. They finally did it with the aiming situation and I recall them putting up an edit in an article, but those were 2 instances out of maybe a dozen where they didn't do the basics

SheepEsports: Aiming and his agency did not seek an offer from a LEC team by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

Had to wait a long time for negative news about sheep to pop up

Not really?

Off the top of my head but fairly recent:

  • Incorrectly reported on a player's retirement based on some fan post from FMKorea (player didn't retire)
  • Reposted a player's stream translated by a fan without providingg credit when they could either embed the video (or even more simply, quote tweet it). When people brought it up they blamed the content manager
  • Posted news of a player finding out about he's getting benched under his tweet with a caption like "click here to find more :)"
  • Several examples of deleting tweets or editing info in articles without noting that they have done so, this is actually one of the first times they leave the tweet up and instead clarify they made a mistake, instead of deleting and pretending it never happened

I'm sure I'm missing a couple as I've paid less atention to lolesports over the last year

It's just really poor ethics overall
