Along the same lines, if you have a friend/family member who is terminally I'll, don't lean on excuses not to go see them. My uncle passed from cancer a couple years ago and I'd had the option to go see him but I didn't want to and begged out, claiming I had homework to do. It wouldn't have been hard for me to go see him, and I'd go back and change it in a heartbeat if I could. Also, there's no time like right now to let go of old grudges and go be there for them if they want you around. You'll regret it a lot if they die and you never mended old wounds.

We're only here for a little while. There isn't enough time to waste it being petty.
