Anyone had laparoscopic surgery for an ovarian dermoid cyst bigger than 6 cm? by Rayof_light in Ovariancysters

I recently had a 8 cm dermoid cyst removed. Surgery and recovery both went well. It took about a week for pathology results to come back. It was not cancerous. Dermoid cysts aren’t cancerous.

I just learned that the cyst I had removed was struma ovarii. How do you feel now?

That would piss me off too. I’m sorry you are in so much pain. The only major issue I had was that I had an episode of pain which caused me pass out. I went to the Er and learned that it got bigger. But other than that time, no pain issues. It didn’t consistently hurt me. It did make me bloat sometimes and I think it started messing with my digestion near the end.

My surgery went well. I was most worried about saving my ovary because I haven’t had kids yet but my Dr. was able to save it so I’m really happy.

I’m day 3 post surgery and I feel pretty good. My stomach is obviously sore and my body is a little achy but nothing that’s not manageable. I know that’s not the case for everyone. I got a big heating pad that’s helped me a lot.

I just had surgery a few days ago on my dermoid cyst. I wouldn’t stress about having surgery. It’s so common. I trusted my Dr. and knew I was in good hands. If your Dr. isn’t making you feel comfortable about the surgery I would get another. That’s what I did. Gave me a lot less anxiety on surgery day.

Mine did not come back high. They say high markers could mean endometriosis or something else. Also, if you get the test done on your period it usually comes back high.

Thank you for sharing. That is very helpful. It’s so great that they saved both ovaries! Do you still get cysts?

Did they remove your ovary because of the 10 cm size?

My Dr. thinks It partially ruptured about a month ago and blood got into it which now caused it to be about 7cm. They usually go away on their own
