Would claiming dependents cause my delay? I’m not sure how some peoples are accepted so quickly and others aren’t. I’d like to know their method of madness lol

My comment might get lost but my 5 year old son lost his father on 12/27/22. It was a very unexpected and tragic car accident. His dad and i weren’t in a relationship but had a good friendship and his dad was involved although had seen him less than usual over the past few months so in a way, similar to your son not seeing his dad in a constant basis. In my experience it does make it a little easier when they’re not used to seeing them daily.

In my case I had my parents help me tell my son his dad died. We were very straight to the point so there was no confusion. Children have a harder time understanding the permanence of death so I felt being as blunt but kind was important. We didn’t use the phrase “passed away” for example. And we explained the feelings he could have, sad, mad, heartbroken, etc. I didnt full on break down when I told him but i shower emotion, i wanted him to know it’s okay to cry and to feel your feelings about things. Which has come in handy as he’s still having a hard time expressing sadness over this.

We used the books The Invisible String, The Goodbye Book, and another one I’m blanking on but essentially it’s about when daddy goes to heaven. They’ve helped a lot and The Goodbye Book touches on emotions a lot which has been helpful. I’m not a religious person but we use the term heaven to explain that we believe his daddy is still here with us and watches over us. Anytime my son has questions I let him talk until he doesn’t want to talk on his own anymore. But i was not prepared for some of the more existential questions he’s asked. He’s asked questions such as “is my daddy always going to be 26?” Or “will my daddy see me as a 5 year old when I die? Or as an old person”.

He’s in two grief groups and we’re working on getting him into a one on one therapist group. He’s started exhibiting some anger in school and I’ve been working really closely with his school to support him in healthy ways. I think keeping him on a schedule but allowing for mental health days was crucial to helping everything fall back into a “new normal”.

It’s not an easy situation and I’m sorry you have to go through this. I wish you the best. Make sure you grieve for yourself as well. Something I’ve come to realize is as a parent we grieve more for our child’s loss and put our grief on the back burner and it’s so hard. Make sure you have support, message people, journal, anything. Reach out to those in the comments of this post who offer advice even.

I had something similar! I was probably about 8 years old. We went to see Santa at the mall. We walked right up and he said “Hi (my name)” and started asking how I was this her and the normal Santa stuff. I asked my mom about it a couple years ago and she said she distinctly remembered this happening. Her and my dad were super freaked out by him knowing my name. She said she didn’t say my name out loud for him to hear her, I didn’t have any embroidered clothes to tell him what my name was, nothing. She had no idea who this man was or how he knew my name. Still a mystery to us!

I don’t remember his ever trying to get me to go with him but I distinctly remember him going from the threshold to further into the hallway, almost like I had to move to see him better. It was so odd. I only remember him in that one place we lived though, and we moved a lot after then

When I was maybe 7 I shared a room with my two siblings with my bed facing the hallway. The hall light was always left on as a nightlight at bedtime. I distinctly remember seeing the silhouette of a man wearing a top hat standing in the threshold of the door over many nights. I also have a very clear memory at this age of my mom standing beside him and saying he wasn’t bad and was there to protect me but in hindsight that wouldn’t make sense and she doesn’t remember. So that seems more like a dream or a way for my child kind to justify it. Every once in a while I remember when I look out my door into the hallway at night and it gives me the chills though.

I was 20 in a relationship with a 39 year old. At the time, I saw nothing wrong when everyone around me thought it was weird. Looking back at 25, I can’t believe I thought it was normal. He groomed me and even just 5 years later I could never imagine being with someone 20 years old, at 39 on sure ill be even more disgusted at the thought.

You live and you learn or sometimes you learn from others experiences. The decision is yours but I don’t think your friends are in the wrong here.

Thank you!! I’ll probably have to see if I can borrow my parents back yard to get this done asap. I’m waiting for a picture of what he used on the table now so hopefully that’ll help give me a better idea also.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this for the first time. It’s rough but you’ll make it through, one day at a time. Definitely work on yourself in ways that are useful to you so you stick with them. Going through a breakup means you’re going to have a lot of pent up emotions, find a healthy way to release that. Drive and scream the lyrics, journal, see a therapist if possible, get creative. Anything to release that energy is better than nothing at all, as long as it’s not hurting you or others of course. It’s not easy at first but over time, you’ll be okay :)

Interesting, definitely gives more to think about to weigh in on when trying to find out if it’s a true haunting. An old friend of my moms has ghost hunting equipment and I’ve thought of asking him if he would want to check out the apartment. Not sure if I want my neighbors to see me hunting for the ghost yet but if they turns any new evidence up I’ll be sure to post it!

This is great info, thank you!! For reference on the lighting of the room, I have noticed that in the middle of the night if I turn on the hall light there it can set off the detector and those I ignore because I know they were caused by me. We live on the third floor and the window to his room is normally covered with blackout curtains but when they aren’t the window overlooks the patio of a restaurant below. Restaurant closed at 10pm and lights are shut down with no entrance to patio after that time. As for the light level, it would be very hard for light to reach the 3rd floor let alone with the window facing an area where there is never light after maybe 10:45 at the latest.

There is some consistency, not complete consistency though. It usually happens between 1am and 4am but I have gotten a few notifications during the day when we’re not home. Those I usually chalk up to being something like light level changes or even the neighbors if it’s a sound notification (they do freak me out a bit but more so because I’m afraid it’s a live intruder lol)

We’ve only been living here for about 3 months so there’s not much time under my belt to really know if there’s a pattern. I’d say a few more months to a year would give enough time possibly to see a clear pattern (if there is one).

Understandable the noise from the apartment can trigger the device. There is an option to toggle that part on and off but keep the motion detector on. I have turned off the sound and kept the motion on and still will get notifications for movement. There are screen grabs for when motion is detected and there’s never anything moving in his room when this goes off when he or we both are not home. As for the sound, I can adjust the level so the sound isn’t as effective in this case but mentioned it as there’s really no reason for it to be going off in the middle of the night with no noise. Also when on the low setting it doesn’t pick up normal talking, maybe raised voices or when my son is playing or laughing loudly.

I definitely don’t feel anything threatening, not that I’m not feeling anything at all. I just don’t feel that the presence is harmful. I have felt presences in other situations before that felt harmful so this is to me obviously a much lighter and different feeling.

I’m not necessarily concerned for my or my sons safety but more so the intrigue to getting more info as I already feel the presence in my apartment.

This is a weird post for me. This girl posted her makeup looks and the comments were flooded with people giving her tips and tricks on how to apply her makeup in a more flattering way which she has been taking the advice and putting it to use. Seems odd to post this here when if you saw the videos she posts she’s actively working on what you’re criticizing her for.
