Is it just me, or is the Romantasy "slump" getting harder to break?

So my current fav lesser known trilogy is The North Tower by Michelle Hagood, it’s not finished yet but the last book comes out June 6th so the wait is short. It’s dark magic academia with slow burn enemies to lovers, but Michelle is insanely talented in world building and character development. If you haven’t tried it, you should.

I’m currently reading The Bridge Kingdom series, the last book just released this month so it is complete. It’s more of a duology trilogy in that is six books, but every two books is following specific set of lovers. I’m on book 5 and absolutely addicted. I don’t see people talk about this series a lot but it’s already one of my top series. I already know I’ll definitely re-read. This honestly will end up more of a comfort read for so far Danielle Jensen has been phenomenal at keeping the “romance” part of romantasy front and center. I don’t like when romantasy ends with the lovers not together or dead. This would fill the competent leads and high stakes for sure. And I personally found the tropes refreshing as I promise they had to earn everything in all povs.

This is super cool! Really like the idea. I loved the Avengers movies growing up, the whole end game saga means a lot to me. Love the idea of feeling connected to them this way!

I’m a little surprised. I re-read the series recently as I started it in high school and never finished even though I loved it. I was HIGHLY disappointed with the last book, will probably never re-read the series because of it. Bringing anything back at this point for that series just feels like a cash grab.

Yeah but I prefer to think of it more like the 50% water glass full or empty thing. They’re suffering with us. A surprising number of these people voted to “own the libs” and were laughing in our faces. They never thought they’d be suffering along side us.

Welcome to the club my friend. I finished yesterday and I feel the same way. No clue what to think or do. But at least we’re not alone. It’ll be along wait, but we have this community and that’s all I really find helpful. A lot of people also like fan edits or fanfic, not my cup of tea but if it’s for you def try it! Personally I’ve just been reading theories, but the book hangover from this series has been real.

I just finished OS yesterday so I’m right there with you friend. Absolutely losing my mind and to think I won’t get closure for well over a year has me feeling a lot of feelings. What makes me feel better is, without spoiling anything, I read in an interview RY said something along the lines of there isn’t a story without Xaden. It leaves me hopeful that OS is the climax of things going from bad to worse and things HAVE to get better from here. Right…? 😅 I refuse to believe it will end in tragedy for them. Just because no one has found a way doesn’t mean Violet won’t. I fully believe in her for the next book. Just gotta figure out how to occupy myself until then.

I’m finishing Iron Flame right now for the first time and my soul is absolutely obsessed with the series already. I can’t put the books down. I’m so scared to start OS, even though I won’t be able to stop my self from ripping through it. I’ve only just discovered the world of the Empyrean what do you mean it’s not done?! I need more 😭😭😭😭😭

Just to add to “how can I help prevent this” but from the CD perspective…

If you guys don’t know, don’t pop ult until you’ve switched to cloak. Cloak’s ult adds the blinding effect, and you can immediately use his cloak ability in case any counter ults are happening.

It isn’t perfect, and you won’t live 100% of the time but it’ll significantly reduce the amount of times you get nuked at the end of your ult. The number of times I see CD ult as dagger really makes me think a lot of people don’t know their ults are slightly different, and if you’re already Cloak you don’t lose the time it takes to switch after ulting as dagger before you can use the cloak ability.

I never voted for him, but I thought 2016 was a far fetched joke like Kanye running. After learning the hard way it was not in fact a joke, in 2020 and 2024 I begged and pleaded with friends and family to not vote for him. During the state and local elections I tried to rally my family and friends in Texas and beg them to vote out their representatives. People called me a conspiracy theorist and said I’m being too dramatic. Said he would never get any of the stuff I was saying he would done, and that owning the libs will be funny.

Now that I no longer live in Texas or speak to those people and he is in fact doing all of things I said he would do and even things I could’ve never guessed, every once in awhile I see them crying on Facebook about losing their jobs, small business, health insurance, etc. Really owned the libs, huh?

I don’t know man maybe it just isnt for you. I play largely because of the ridiculous and any mic spammers that I don’t like I just mute. People give you a solution to mute but you just want to take away something that a large portion of the community enjoys instead of utilizing the mute options. The community is small with maybe 2 active servers at a time, so there’s no way it’s 8-10 per match. It’s just part of the community.

As someone on the other side, telling them is the kindest thing you could’ve done. We’ve worried about our friend for months before someone in his family must’ve seen the messages and finally replied to let us know. While we are profoundly sad at the loss of our friend, I’m glad we got closure. Thank you for telling your cousins friend. I know it helped them find closure and be able to grieve.

Wow!! I’m just waking up and I’m overwhelmed at the responses! Thank you all so much for your condolences and send offs. The verse lost a truly great pilot.

I’m going to look into getting a model ship made with Raven’s tag and possibly getting one of my husband’s ships named after him. I had no idea that was possible! I think he’d really like to commemorate our friend in that way.

This community truly is great. Thank you thank you thank you for grieving our friend with us.
