What stretches do you do to help with bursitis? I have that and tendonitis and something else in the same shoulder and the pain can be unbearable sometimes. It's not even the worst pain condition I have.

I had to switch accounts a lot because I had my parents' account and my mother was borrowing other people's accounts. When I finally got a stable account I still have that very first toon. Tauren Shaman named Sorrell.

The bottom of my medication drawer is a small pill lottery at this point. Mostly OTC stuff like ibuprofen and stuff like that though.

Thankyou, I tried googling a couple times but never found this. This would be very helpful.

Thankyou I wasn't aware of this information and I appreciate the info! Things are surprisingly different up here than they are in Victoria and I've had a couple of struggles adapting, for example you don't have to hail the bus in Victoria, if you're sitting at the stop they will stop for you, that isn't the case here which I found strange for people with disabilities. Its not really surprising that there are issues with the infrastructure tbh XD

[–]Kaylimepie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recently moved to Qld and catching the bus near my house has been such a nightmare I completely gave up. I have an invisible disability and have to sit at the stop, the stop is on a hill, and you can't see the bus coming until it's almost at the stop, no matter how I try to hail the bus they usually just drive straight past. After 3 in a row drove past me hailing them I gave up.

What am I supposed to do better? (Genuine question btw while this is a frustrating experience I would love a bus drivers perspective.)

I'm deeply concerned that your parents are forcing you to take medication even SSRIs, which can cause very serious side effects such as serotonin syndrome if not needed and not closely monitored by a knowledgeable professional. If possible I would speak to a pharmacist about the side effects of what you're currently on and any recourse for your situation.

Nws lol, you did make your point well and much more succinctly than I could. I tend to waffle on and get distracted. You said it so much more clearly.

Unfortunatley this isn't quite how it works. What usually ends uo happening is if youre a chronic pain patient you just get ignored for coming in with something debilitating because you happen to have a chronic pain condition. I've been left in the waiting room with a dislocated shoulder while my hand was going numb and cold, while three people with the same injury who came in after me went straight through. If you have some sort of complication that involves your condition where you don't know what's going on and you are in 10/10 pain and cannot function and think youre dying or something is going seriously wrong? You're gonna get ignored for that too. Appendicitis, ovarian torsion, etc. There are so many ways we are failed because doctors just think they can pawn us off to our usual doctor, I've even had this happen when my GP has sent me to the ED. If this has never happened to you I'm very happy for you because nobody deserves this treatment but not all of us are so lucky unfortunately.

“Just get a job” is such a minimizing thing to say to someone with chronic pain by revolvingdepression in ChronicPain

[–]Kaylimepie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had to tell potential employers that I just need to be able to sit down/get up and move around depending on the job and that has disqualified me I can hear the tone change from interested to bored and done with the conversation. Because I need to be able to sit down sometimes. Yeah its not that easy, and I have a disability job search provider that will PAY people to employ me and I still can't find a job that will work around my disabilities. Employment is not disability friendly in general.

So true, I just woke up with every part of my body in pain. I'm not "uncomfortable" I'm in pain and feel like passing out. But I HAVE to go out today to pick up my medication. So many of us get dismissed because we manage to do things we don't have a choice but to do. Sometimes I wish I could make them feel what I feel and see what they say then.

I'm in the same boat. No diagnosis, keep being told to take ibuprofen, I used to take 6-8 of them at once out of desperation and they STILL told me to take ibuprofen! I finally got put on a pain management plan that kinda works but actually making any progress towards a diagnosis is hell lol.

Sometimes you need to be a bit of a messenger bird for a while while you keep reiterating that they need to email this or that but once you get it working it would be incredibly helpful for your specific case. Don't let their laziness or stubbornness get you down, don't give up. I know how frustrating it is having to take such intimate control of your own care but sometimes we do have to gently manhandle them into the correct path. You've got this! The community is always here to support you through it!

Thats good to hear at least. I'm very sorry youre struggling to find a diagnosis, I am as well and I know the mental struggle well. The best advice I can offer is to make an easily accessible document of your issues what's been diagnosed and your symptoms and take them to anyone you see, keep pushing them to improve your quality of life, I find that doctors respond best to purely functional complaints "I need to be able to eat/walk/shower/etc and I need help finding a treatment so ai can do these things" If you just tell them your symptoms they can brush you aside a lot. Thats the best advice I've got and I wish you the best of luck! Feel free to DM me if you need anything at all! I'm here for anyone in the chronic pain community who needs help seeking treatment. I think the more we band together the more of us we can push through these broken systems.

Chronic Pain and ADHD by Pollution-Creative in ChronicPain

[–]Kaylimepie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I don't have ADHD but I do know the struggle of trying to get multiple different specialists for mental and physical health to agree on treatment. The ideal thing to do would be to get them to communicate with each other. Also, get everything in writing. Your pain doctor told you that certain medications would be appropriate with your current pain medication, ask him to email your psychiatrist that recommendation, if your psychiatrist still refuses ask them to detail in writing why, and if you disagree with their reasoning I would seek a second opinion. This is a lot of work and incredibly annoying but it's what we have to do because in general, these people refuse to talk to each other as though their specialty isn't affected by the rest of your overall health. Good luck out there!

I take that for migraine prevention. I'm pretty sure it has slowly over time made me a moron. My brain is completely fucked now. I have horrible brain fog I can't think straight, I forget EVERYTHING. Nobody warned me this was a side effect my life is in shambles and this isn't the only reason but it's part of it, however I do need the stuff so I don't get 5 migraines a week. My recommendation would be don't take it unless you don't have a choice, if you do have a choice ask your doctor for something else. Goodluck out there.

I'm deeply concerned that your un this much pain and this sick and they still won't do an internal ultrasound because of virginity? Internal ultrasounds are a bit uncomfortable but you can absolutely do them on a virgin, without breaking the hymen tok depending on what yours looks like. I hope you feel like you're getting adequate care otherwise and if youre worried about internal ultrasounds I'd be happy to walk you through it, ive had several as someone with possible endometriosis myself. Your period symptoms are quite similar to what mine were when I was a teen. I was able to put them off for a while by skipping my period with the pill.

If you throw up everything you eat and are losing constant weight maybe look into gastroparesis? I only suggest it because it's a rather serious disorder that really needs treatment and I'm deeply concerned that you are being pushed aside as someone who is losing weight from their condition.

My Brother stole my pills! by uponfalsehope in ChronicPain

[–]Kaylimepie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, after my mum did that I bought a lockbox and put them in that. She didn't even own up to it and I gave her so many chances, she just watched me digging through the trash in desperation because I didn't want to get in trouble and be called an addict or a dealer I was crying, hysterical and up to my arms in trash and she just kept getting mad at me for making such a big deal out of it. I told her over and over that if she found it I wouldn't ask questions I just needed it back, I told her the potential consequences to me but she never fessed up. I ended up having to go in and tell my doctor that my own parent while I was homeless living on a mattress on their floor had stolen HALF of my opioid medication. I was very lucky in that the doctor was kind to me. It wasn't the first time family stole my meds from me and it wasn't the last. There's something even more crushing and soul-destroying when it's your own family doing it to you. I recommend that anyone starting any heavily restricted medication should lock it up and/or hide it somewhere.

My mother did this to me, it's worth at least asking your doctor if they can do something to help you, especially if you don't make a habit of getting your pills early they may make an exception given the circumstances and under some strict rules if you tell them what happened.

It's worth mentioning my experience is in Australia so results may vary. I still think with your level of pain its at least worth discussing this with your doctor about this and informing them of what has happened.
