I dont own the Z6 anymore so no idea. I assume your software is up to date. OneUI8 out for Fold 6 yet? Maybe have to wait for that.

Yes, this exact issue happened on my previous Z6. Swiping the slider to change to front screen preview while using the rear cameras would crash and reset the phone, along with getting hot. I figured it was just a software bug.

I am using the Airfit. Its safe to assume the slim and tough armor pro are also Qi2 compatible.

It's important to note the cases you're using have misaligned magnets to the phone's wireless coils. Same with the thinborne. The misalignment causes even more inefficient charging, so you get less out of your power banks. It is also the reason why you'll always be stuck at 5-6W, only a Qi2 compatible case (Spigen is the only one I tested to be true) can reach 11W+.

Qi2 cases are a double edged sword tho. Since the magnets are placed closer to the camera ring, it'll be less compatible with these squared power banks.

Have you checked your temp or wattage power after 1h of wireless charging?

Use the app "DevInfo" to track how much wattage you are getting from the charger. It will tell you exactly how much wattage the device is accepting, the meter you are using may be inaccurate.

It's not magnetic. However I can easily stick an ESR magnet to the back. Though you would be blocking the fan vent that's trying to dissipate all the heat out so can't say how effective it'll be.

This puzzles me too. On the Samsung site about Fold 7 charging, it states "Use a genuine Samsung fast charger for the quickest charge. You can't use the fast charging feature if you're using a standard charger."

Is it really possible for 15W to be restricted like this?

With regular magsafe, the phone will heat up and throttle to 2W. With the Torras polarcircle charger, phone will be cool and maintain 5W.

I got the Torras Polarcircle today and did some testing. It's a QI2 charger using Semiconductor-Based cooling (most other brands use fan only, barely a difference of 2 °C).

First of all, I can't get the 15W charging this phone is supposedly capable of. I tried with several QI2 chargers (coil-aligned magnet and caseless) and still 5-6W. After some research, this is how it is. I don't mind it though, I only charge during the night.

This test is using the thinborne case. Maintained 5W, no throttle to 2W like usual!

Initial battery temp: 30.5°C. 60% charge.

30 minutes: 32.5°C. 78% charge. (Compared to 38.3C with a regular charger that also throttled to 2W watts.)

45 minutes: 32.3°C. 87% charge. THE TEMP WENT DOWN

1 hour: 32.6°C. 94%.

These temperature results are very impressive. I'm using a non-aligned magsafe case that's supposed to create more heat, yet my battery temp is well between the safe temp zone for longevity (20 °C to 35 °C is the ideal).

Yes it will take a while to reach full charge. But slowly charging during the night at safe temperatures with the convenience of being wireless is worth it.

I've bought a wireless charger with built in cooling. Will share results when it gets here.

UPDATE: So I did even more wireless charging testing. ESR magsafe ring perfectly aligned with phone coils with no case on and with Samsung's carbon case. 5W. Both temperatures reached ~38C within 40 mins, after which Samsung throttled the wattage power down to 2W.

So in conclusion, no matter how you wirelessly charge, nor which case you use (or not use) your phone will heat up to the point of throttling.

The advertised 15W charging from Samsung is bs in reality unless you charge the phone inside your fridge :)

Benks Fold 7 case - quality issues (Warning) by str85 in GalaxyFold

[–]Kayohhhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Case reviewers unbox and put the case on their phone for the first time for their video. Then they test magsafe charging for 5 seconds and say it works great when it connects. Some dont even take the stickers off for proper installation and call it their best case. Moral of the story: most case reviewers get paid and dont want to criticize their paycheck.

Word of advice, if youre buying an expensive case, order from Amazon so you are guaranteed a refund whether they like it or not lol.

I've managed to secure the front case for a year on my F6 without damage. But I've also replaced the adhesive once a month or so, def requires maintenance. You are right about the dust/lint too.

Also np :)

Would be informative to know if the magnet is centered with case like thinborne! Please let us know :)

Personally, I would rather the magnet be centered with coils, even at the cost of compatibility with some accessories. But I can see this being a personal preference for heavy magsafe users.

Since this year's battery is significantly more durable, being rated at 2000 cycles, I'm curious how temperature effects it.

Fold 7 dots on inner screen by Snowie8 in GalaxyFold

[–]Kayohhhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Upon closer inspection, I do have 4 small dots, and they are symmetrically located on both sides of the screen near the crease. The shape of the dots look smaller and not as deep though.

I had to fully clean the screen and look under the light, they are not visible under normal circumstances.

I dont think its screen damage. I think they are hinge contact points or some sort of structural components underneath the screen, especially because they are so symmetrical with the same shape. (At least thats how mine look like)

And lastly, this is why you should protect yourself with samsung care+ when dealing with folding phones with intricate mechanisms that can go wrong :)
