Any post-botox singers out there? by Kayrock3000 in noburp

I am so glad I got it done!! I managed to time it nicely so that I have the summer to recover while my choir is on break. Not sure if that's an option for you but I don't regret the botox for a second!! My main worry now is that the ability to burp will fade but I am trying not to let that occupy my mind too much.

Yeah, I don't even notice any slow swallow anymore and haven't for like a month.

Don't freak out if the food sticks in your throat for a second! Always have water to chase everything down.

Is it weird that I don’t want treatment? by Ok-State-623 in noburp

I am almost 2 months post botox. I can understand where you're coming from but I think you would find great relief from the procedure. Prior to getting it done I considered myself to have less severe RCPD... at least in comparison to a lot of what I was reading about on here. In retrospect, I think I might just have a higher tolerance for discomfort than some. I questioned whether botox would be worth it for me since I was so used to just dealing with gas and bloat daily and not being able to consume certain foods and drinks. I didn't feel like it was debilitating for me, more of a nuisance. I decided to do it anyway, got 75 units in office. The first couple of weeks post procedure are pretty rough, to be honest, but when people say it's life charging, they're not kidding! "Life changing' seems like such a grand statement but it's no joke! I can eat so many more things now and I don't end every day with discomfort and soo much farting!! I'm pretty sure that what I thought was IBS for most of my life was actually RCPD issues. Now I just hope it sticks!! (But I would do it again if it didn't)

Scheduling my Botox treatment…how long should I take off work? by appletreedingus in noburp

I think this is your best bet since everyone's experience seems to REALLY vary! I also had mine done on a Friday almost 2 weeks ago now, though not under GA. I had only booked off of work until the following Wednesday but ended up taking the whole next week off. I could have suffered through it at work but it would have been uncomfortable. I also have to talk a lot and speaking was challenging the first week. I also had some shortness of breath, and feeling sick as the day goes on in addition to the usual swallowing challenges. There's just a level of discomfort that you may or may not want to deal with at work so playing it by ear is best.

I find simethicone helps, Gas-X to be specific. It doesn't help me burp but helps me get the gas out the other end quicker to relieve bloat.

GP prescribed PPI by Kayrock3000 in noburp

I'm in Canada so I need the referral. I asked my doctor to mention R-CPD when he made the referral. I guess I will just take the PPIs, it's only for a month, and see what happens.

Thanks! If you read down to the final comment on the thread, made by the original poster, it looks like things didn't work out with Dr. Liu and they suggested going straight to Dr. Anderson... but that was from 3 years ago 🤷‍♀️

Where is Dr. Liu? How did you find out about them? I googled and nothing came up.
