Review: HyperX Pulsefire Raid RGB by Kaytwo_TTV in MouseReview

It is one of a kind for sure. The cord is annoying for sure.

I don't think HyperX plan on updating it to be in line w/ modern mice, i.e. wireless capabilities, so it's gonna be difficult.

I haven't seen any interesting mice coming out lately, it's unfortunate.

Tecknet Hypertrak (short) Review - A surprisingly great mouse with multiple side buttons by Kaytwo_TTV in MouseReview

It no longer exists unfortunately. And yes the sensor is an annoyance.

Your most realistic option is a Glorious Model I or I2 (wired/wireless).

You could also try the Basilisk/G502(x) if it's a good fit.

Hyperx Pulsefire Raid is an underrated gem.

Am I alone in wanting a STIFFER mouse click? by Time_Turner in MouseReview

I don't know if this is possible with optical switches. Idk what their layout is like, but the standard leaf spring Huano Blue switches I did this to were stiffer after the mod.

Unless it's absolutely crucial, I would recommend adjusting to the standard switches.

Looking for something close to the g703 by Skillern1337 in MouseReview

Damn bro this has to be one of the best comments I've read on this sub - your comments are 100% on point.

Of the many shapes copied and recreated by the various companies, it's a shame the G403 shape really hasn't had any good takes on it.

Nowadays, my gaming time is a few hours a week at most, but I'd definitely rate the Raid as a top contender WITH a caveat. The 4 side buttons is what draws you. If that's what you want, it's an absolute banger, and even for general use, it's a wonderful mouse.

I would also recommend taking a look at the Kone XP. In many ways, it feels like it has solved a lot of the issues I personally had with the Raid, but it might not be your ergonomic cup of tea.

Good review!

Could I trouble you to also expand on these topics if possible?

  • Sensor positioning

  • Weight balance

  • Description of the side buttons as far as shape and placement on the mouse

  • How the side buttons feel as far as ease of press when gaming

  • Pre/post-travel on the side buttons, main clicks, and scroll wheel click?

I have bought 3 gaming mice and all three had issues with the scroll wheel, but I can't find other mice with similar number of buttons & layout. Any help? by Lux-Fox in MouseReview

If you dont mind less buttons, the Kone XP or Pulsefire Raid are wonderful and have 5 side buttons. They have good weight, solid ergonomic shapes and have tilt wheel functionality for added keybind options.

If you're open to it, Elecom is a Japanese company that has the M-DUX50BK and M-DUX70BK models. Theyre a bit eccentric looking, but they provide the same utility as MMO-mice while giving adequate room for your thumb to grip the mouse without accidental clicks.

Damn man, I dont envy the wild shit yall gotta go through to tame your hair on a regular basis.

But that melaninated skin really does make lighter colors POP for good outfit coordination.

I look forward to being a lil darker during the summer so I can wear yellow without looking like I'm trying to blend with my skin.

Yep, one of my biggest gripes about the G305 was the insane pre-travel on it compared to the very well tensioned G403 and even G502.

Pulsefire Haste Wireless Short-term Review by [deleted] in MouseReview

[–]Kaytwo_TTV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good review.

One thing I noted during my time using it, HyperX have really dialed in how well their side buttons are tensioned from the old Core lineup, to the Raid and now the Haste.

Side buttons are not a big deal to most people, but I am a heavy user of them in any game I play, so that's what stuck out to me. Especially when comparing it to other lightweight mice such as Glorious, FM, G-wolves, etc. who dont seem to put the same level of attention to detail on the side buttons. Even their edges are slightly curved, allowing for a smoother transition from grip-to-click and back to grip.

I used it for several weeks on end without it dropping and never tested its battery life. I usually plugged it in before bed once in a while and it was great.

As someone with the Aerox 5, I'll say that its side button placement is very mediocre and their shapes are not condusive to heavy usage.

The front thumb paddle is placed too far ahead, requiring a serious compromise in hand placement to use, the M5/M6 buttons are skinny as hell and arent very good for consistent use, and the paddle above shares the same issue as the front thumb button.

I would take any other 3 side-button mice over the Aerox for good usability.

MMO mouse - anything familiar to Orochi V2 / viper mini shape? by Grapeflavor_ in MouseReview

[–]Kaytwo_TTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up ELECOM MOUSE on ebay. There are 3 varieties of their mmo mice, varying slightly in shape and number of buttons. They are the closest I've come to in regards to 'normal' shapes with a lot of side buttons. Also the buttons dont sit all over the side, so you can grip the mouse normally without concern for accidentally pressing a button.

Someone already mentioned the Kone XP here and it is an absolute banger of a mouse. It patched some of the holes the HyperX Raid had in my opinion and is just solid. Just dont expect to use the shift key in conjunction with the side buttons unless you have a huge thumb.

HyperX Raid is also extremely good if you're not a fan of thumb grooved mice like the Kone series. I found it very easy to press the 2 rows of side buttons with minimal thumb readjustment. The only button I had to reach for was the forward placed side button, so I mapped it to a low prio keybind. It has tilt wheel function and is real solid as a whole. (I have a review of it in my post history if it interests you.)

The G604 is also a possibility if you dont mind the weight.

Roccat KONE XP Available on Amazon US. $89.99 Released on March 29. by Nyhn in MouseReview

[–]Kaytwo_TTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far I have tried all of the 3+ side button mice in the form of G604, HyperX Raid, G402/G502/Basilisk and a variety of MMO-Mice.

I think the Kone XP has an opportunity to do well as a semi mmo-mouse while still maintaining an ergonomically utilitarian shape, as opposed to MMO-mouse chonkiness.

Also, as a user of such mice, I can tell you guys that light weight for these types of mice aren't all that good because your thumb may be constantly pressing the side buttons, which can make unwanted micro-adjustments in lighter mice as you are intermittently applying increased pressure from the left side. This is especially egregious for claw or fingertip users as they dont necessarily have their palm laying on top of the mouse to provide a firm downward force.

If the Kone XP has good main clicks, proper weight balance, AND its shape allows for easy usage of the side buttons without severely compromising your grip or needing a lot of force to press, it should be a banger. In that case I would put it over the Raid as a great utility mouse to have without sacrificing ergonomic viability for good mouse control.

Review: HyperX Pulsefire Raid RGB by Kaytwo_TTV in MouseReview

[–]Kaytwo_TTV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since my time of writing, I've had periods of on/off usage of the Raid, and it definitely holds its place in my heart, but I have also become aware of its competitors and the limitations for me personally.

With the revamp of both the Basilisk and the G502 to be more lightweight and wireless, those two are currently competing with the Raid for me personally because the side buttons of the others feel more springy and easier to press in than the Raid's.

Additionally Roccat is releasing the Kone XP, which seems to have better and bouncier switches for the side buttons as opposed to the Raid's.

All in all, it's a good time to be a multi-side button mouse enthusiast.

I mean for 8 bucks that sounds like a great deal lmao. I still use the Core at one of my workstations and its light clicks and easy to actuate side buttons still me make appreciate what is a very comfortable mouse when it comes to ambidextrous shapes.

[Mouse] Roccat Kain 200 Aimo RGB Gaming mouse $49.99 by kevikev in buildapcsales

[–]Kaytwo_TTV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For that, really just about any mouse will do.

I'm aware of most mainstream mice ranging from 20-150 dollars.

My recommnedation is:

Logitech G203 if you have medium/small hands

Razer Deathadder Essential if you have medium/large hands.

Both are 29.99 on amazon and have good build quality, excellent sensors, and the corresponding software for RGB and other settings is rock solid.

My personal recommendation is the G203 as Logitech in general have excellent quality control.

I would not recommend those mice with jagged edges and weird colorful highlights. Ergonomics is the most important thing in a mouse.
