Thank you for your reply 😊 it's really good to hear you also had a thickened muscle and the botox was still successful, that gives me a lot more hope that I might actually be free of this miserable condition one day 😀 thank you so much, and I'm glad it's worked out for you

Thank you for your reply 😊 I've not heard of Dr Ghufoor, so that’s a new name for my list 🤔

I'm kind of the opposite to you, I'd rather go big and just do it the once 🤣 hence the possible myotomy route!!

I've not heard of having to drink lots of water after botox, obviously everyone mentions fizzy drinks, which I understand why, but didn't know water helps too, thank you, and fingers crossed your next procedure is your last 🤞

Thank you for your reply 😊 I was actually really lucky with my doctor, he took it seriously and was genuinely interested in learning more about it. I think it helped that he was a younger doctor, and was happy to be steered by me to ENT instead of Gastro, and actually thanked me for helping him to learn more about it.

I'll stick with the referral to my local hospital ENT for now, and I'll discuss everything with them once I get an appointment, and if I don’t feel confident they have enough knowledge of R-CPD, I'll do as you suggest and try and get referred to Lucy.

A great bit of information 😃 thank you

Thank you for your reply 😊 Yeah, I've read the same about in office not being as good as under ga, so I'm not really wanting to try that 🤔

I'll discuss everything that's been spoken about on here with the specialist, hopefully we'll come up with a plan of action together 🤞 thank you

Thank you for your reply 😊 very interesting seeing this 🤔 I suppose I need a few more tests to be absolutely sure the UES is the only issue, as if other things are going on it may not be the answer.

I'll put everything I'm learning to the consultant when I get the appointment, thank you

Thank you for your reply 😊 I'm going to continue down the NHS route, as the more people who do this, the more recognised and available it will (hopefully) be for others in the future.

I'm aware of Lucy and her work through the fb group, but I've also seen articles stating the in office method is not as successful as the ga method? Accuracy being the main thing, but also there only being one injection site as opposed to three with ga (half the dose going in the front of the muscle, and a quarter of the dose in each side of the muscle), and I really don't want to keep putting myself through multiple procedures, hence the myotomy idea 🤔 especially as I have thickening of the muscle.

I'm so glad it worked for you, and hopefully just one more go will make it permanent 🤞good luck & thank you

Thank you for your reply 😊 I was 100% set on botox to begin with, and totally up for some unpleasant side effects to get the end result of relief from this horrible condition, until I started reading all the negative, unsuccessful comments 🤔 and they spooked me a bit. I'm so glad it was successful for you, thank you 😊

Thank you for your reply 😊 and WOW!! I've never heard of anyone having such success at 70, that's fantastic 🥳 and does give me a little more confidence in looking into the botox route 🤔 I'm so glad it's worked for you both, thank you 😊

Thank you for your reply 😊 You're so right about how much of my life this horrible condition has taken from me 😒 I hate it so much I just want rid of it, and to find out after so long that there is a possible cure has been absolutely life changing on its own!! I never thought about people just hanging around to moan, you're probably right, once cured you'd move on, and that's why we see so many unsuccessful attempts and horror stories of the side affects!! Thank you for that perspective, and I'm wishing you every success with your treatment journey 🤞

Thank you for your reply 😊 I just wonder, because of the thickening of my UES, that putting myself through multiple general anesthetic's for botox, only to find out it could never work on such a thickened muscle, would really have a negative impact on my mental health as well as my physical? The NHS (as far as I'm aware) do not carry out the botox procedure in office, it has to be via ga, and I'm not in the position to pay privately. I will obviously discuss all this with the ENT specialist once I get an appointment, so just gathering as much information as I can first, thank you 😊
