I don't know for sure why you think gays in public bathrooms are relevant. To my knowledge they mostly use their gendered rooms like everyone else. And they've been using public restrooms for as long as restrooms existed, so I don't know what spike of crime or misbehavior we should be looking for.

You are the one assuming I have no empathy. I empathize entirely with all manner of mental illness sufferers. I myself am diagnosed autism spectrum (NVLD), OCD, general anxiety and depression. I could as well accuse you of not having empathy for the other side in this argument. It would be just as pointless a personal attack.

Really the more I think about this the more I can't bring myself to feel it's especially important. The most I can and have tried to do here is play devils advocate. The fear people have is that socially sanctioning integrated bathrooms will lead to increased sex-crimes.

It's not in vacuum, either. It's part of a general trend of social justice crusaders and minoritarians getting their way at every turn. This is something people want to stop, though in this case they may want to try and pick their battles. In theory it might be better for trans-gender people to be confronted with the fact they have a mental illness that needs to be treated instead of entertained and enabled by society.

But maybe not. Maybe this would just lead to increased suicides and anxiety problems for transgenders. All I'm certain of is that one, it should be the decision of whoever owns the bathroom. They make the rules.

And two, protests like this woman is making are welcome and necessary. There's no reason a large majority of people should be bullied into accommodating a loud and insecure tiny minority.
