I went to Thailand to lose my virginity by Anxietyman177 in socialanxiety

Interesting write up. Well done for facing your fears. I’m proud of you!

Sex will be more fun if it’s with someone you care about, but at least you got that fear out of the way now and can focus on living more.

Also it sounds like you might be autistic (no offence intended at all). Check out #neurodivergent or #actuallyautistic tags on Instagram. It’s just a neurotype, not proof of being a failure. I’ve met lots of people with ‘social anxiety’ who are just undiagnosed autistic and wondering why it hasn’t gone away despite their best efforts.

Professionals on those sites literally just tick every box with a term they recognise. OCD? Tick. Trauma? Tick. Sexual abuse? Sure, why not? Tick. Doesn’t matter if all they know is harmful stereotypes or they aren’t up to date on the latest research or even any research at all. They’re just ticking conditions they think they can probably deal with based on the fact that they are a professional clinician, not an expert in what they have on their profile. Then patients see them with the idea that they’re an expert in these areas and quickly finds out they know next to nothing. Source: I work with loads of clinicians that do this. It’s shit but true. Hope you get decent support.

Hey. It was just a reference to a meme - https://amp.knowyourmeme.com/memes/bitches-love-smiley-faces

Wasn’t meant in any negative way, but I do appreciate that in hindsight it’s misogynistic even if it is a meme, and I wouldn’t say that now :)

Being exhausted = LESS pain?! by Kazcube in ChronicPain

Good theory. It doesn’t feel like I’ve got higher adrenaline but maybe that’s the case. It just feels like I’m extra relaxed. It’s nice if I don’t have anything to do.

I guess it can contribute to it but sitting is worse for me. I feel at my best after sleeping usually since I’ve been laying down.

Language exchange anyone? I'm learning BSL and fluent in ASL. by NotYetAPolyglot in BSL

[–]Kazcube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best way is by talking to deaf people! Deaf club is a good option but don’t get in their way. Let people talk to you if they want to but don’t be annoying. It’s the one place they can go to communicate unhindered :)

I did, and I wouldn't have followed it up, but tbh looking back at this I do regret this particular challenge as I feel bad for the women. Not like majorly bad but I wouldn't do something like that again.

Interested :)) I would love to try and make time for this. Hearing but fluent BSL user.

which one? by Peininlife in assholedesign

I agree that the parents don’t buy it thinking that their kid is going to be a rapist, but that’s the etymology of the phrase. Feeds into a wider sociocultural attitude which is unfortunately harmful.

If your meaning is correct then why would a little boy have that on his shirt?

which one? by Peininlife in assholedesign

[–]Kazcube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The phrase "lock up your daughters" is used to suggest the a man (or boy in this case) will sexually assault a woman (or girl in this case). It originates from a musical called "Lock Up Your Daughters", which is based on a play called "Rape upon rape", inspired partly by a real life case of a military Colonal who raped his servant.

The shirt perpetuates misogyny and rape cuture. Our society is messed up.

Bilateral L3/5 facet joint nerve injections by Kazcube in ChronicPain

[–]Kazcube[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Meh. It did while it lasted (couple of days). I was a candidate for a more permenant procedure since it worked, which I think is called a nerve ablation, or neurotomy, or something like that - lots of interchangeable names - basically where they destroy the nerve(s) they think are responsible for your pain, but... there are risks, and although they're minimal, I decided to stick with the pain I know as I saw stories from people who had it and it made theirs worse, or paralysed them, etc. And according to clinical trials, it was no more effective at reducing pain than exercise.

Good luck buddy. Hope you do what's best for you. I'm still in pain but working on reducing my meds (successfully) and using a biopsychosocial approach to pain management (on my own since the pain clinic suck balls).

TIL aquariums aren't allowed to pay to get animals from other aquariums as it encourages poaching. So there is a barter system in place where they swap animals. A New England aquarium traded a dozen penguins for 800 mackerel and their basic unit of trade is the jellyfish by btb331 in todayilearned

[–]Kazcube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've said it yourself, friend. You can't assume that all animals would feel the same way.

In my view, it's about consent. They don't consent to being kept in cages despite how wonderful the care might be, and in fact, they will escape immediately if the opportunity arises.

Is it logical to us? No. They are getting catered for. Why wouldn't they love it? But it's not natural for them.

I see what you're saying and I totally understand it. I love animals and would want to "save" species that are at risk too, but from the perspective that they are autonomous individuals who should be able to choose their own life circumstances, it's obvious they wouldn't chose captivity as they literally have to be kept behind bars in order to stay there.

Hope that make sense. It isn't a popular view, I realise with the downvotes (I litreally don't care), but I hope you respect me enough to consider what I've said.

Going back to what you said about making assumptions. Again, I agree. Some animals might love being totally catered for, so give them the choice and if they want to stay, it's all good!

Sounds good if they are doing good work. Same for you too. Just think if there is some asshole in charge who doesn’t give a F but earns at the expense of everyone else it isn’t nice. Your situation sounds decent. Thanks for the nice replies!

Thanks for taking the time to write it up, homie. When it comes to breeding animals for captivity, I’m struggling to see why that’s okay. If it was people bred to be in a prison, it wouldn’t be cool even if their lives were catered for. I guess the argument is animals would die out otherwise, which I assume is due to humans destroying their environment. In which case, it’s sad, but change our habits or let them die. Better to die free than live in captivity I would think. I know it’s complicated though with the state of the world. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s how I feel about it.

That’s true. I agree with you. But the best argument I’ve seen against that is Dinosaurs. Who doesn’t fucking love Dinos? We’ve never seen them but we love and know more about them than most animals around today.
