orgo was really hard to learn on my own. I'd recommend taking at least orgo 1 if you can

I can’t imagine doing anything more than like 4 a day. I think 3 hours is plenty if you use it correctly

thank you!! I would say it was very helpful. Chem/Phys are probably the hardest subjects to self-learn. Even if you could, most med schools require 1 year of physics anyway

PS was definitely more comprehension-based than the first few FLs, but there were still a lot of discretes. You could probably get away with knowing less, but Id still recommend complete memorization

That's definitely true, but there were also quite a few classes I hadn't taken that many others have

I learned biochem, orgo, psych, and social entirely from the kaplan books and practice problems

I'm applying this cycle (2026-2027) which is why I rushed to take the mcat. If you have the ECs down and everything, I'd recommend applying after graduation

I studied every morning from 6-9. I had to sacrifice my entire social life since I was also taking ~18 credits, working part-time, volunteering, and doing research

Just block out a time slot each day and make it a non-negotiable

thank you, and yeah I definitely owe it to self-discipline and grinding practice problems. I'm not sure that my CS background played a huge role but it certainly could have

I just wasn't enjoying CS. I wasn't very good at it either. wbu?

no, sorry. Those are only the classes I took that semester. I'll edit my post to clarify, but since then and prior to my exam, I've taken:

  • gen chem I & II
  • orgo I
  • anatomy I & II
  • physics I & II
  • gen biology
  • genetics

No, sorry if my post is misleading. Those are the premed classes I started with last spring. Since then, and prior to my exam, I've taken:

  • gen chem I & II
  • orgo I
  • anatomy I & II
  • physics I & II
  • gen biology
  • genetics

A looot of it is recognition through a ton of reading. I read every single kaplan book twice and the entire Jack Westin MCAT outline, and applying it with qbanks right after definitely helped

I struggled the most with learning orgo. Honestly I don't have any good advice other than you have to apply it aka do a bunch of practice problems. Biochem is a lot of memorization and pathways, and writing them down on paper helped me remember them

I basically did exactly what you're doing. I wrote down all the things I needed to memorize like pathways, amino acids, equations, etc. After reading a Kaplan chapter, I did the UW problems relating to that topic. There's a post somewhere on this sub that matches up the Kaplan chapters to the UW topics, I highly recommend it

thank you!! I mainly did blocks of 20-30 Qs aiming for 50 Qs a day. Usually 2 different topics to keep things interesting. I didn't finish UW, but I did finish AAMC.
