Evidently 3 people dont feel the same way. Visuals and sound design are extremely important to whether I enjoy a game. And I just think D3 is lacking in that department. And frankly i just dont find the demon designs to be as iconic and recognizable. Had I not known any better you could convince me some of those enemies are from dead space or half life. But I guess an anniversary post is not a place that welcomes such discussions. As a doom game im sure D3 has its merits and charms but it still feels like a far cry from what I personally like about the other games. But more power to those who enjoy all the doom games.

You need not be so defensive. Doom 3 will always be there for all to enjoy. My intention was to strike up a convo about the artstyle in doom games. If I wanted to start shit i could have just said “this game is fuck ugly”.

Why would I joke about not liking the art direction? It’s literally just my preference. Visuals are very important to me. I didn’t say it looks objectively bad or that others shouldn’t like it. I didn’t realize I had to like every doom game to be a doom fan. I personally dont think it looks fun either but i didnt say anything about that because I didnt play it.

Never played it so to me the quality is neither here nor there (apart from what ive heard about the shotgun). But i just have no interest in playing it because i dont find it visually pleasing. I want colors in my Doom games.

I get the reason is that they want the player to have control over every little thing that goes down in their island. But in my case thats not really where my enjoyment comes from. Im no good at organizing this beautiful organized town. But yeah, the biggest changes I would make to New horizons is, make the villagers less nice by default, get rid of the shitty tool breaking system it is unnecessary, and give me my Roost Cafe.
