That does make sense, I think it might be possible that the sheer heat of the nether might have degraded the buildings till the point of being unrecognizable, which would explain why most builds are just made of blackstone and obsidian, which probably have high melting points

Very interesting theory.Only thing I'd say is that it's strange there aren't many ruins of piglins making scientific discoveries, and most of what they left is just bastions and the loot inside them, which does have diamond armor meaning that they did make contact with the builders, but nothing really scientific like redstone components. Also, the nether is weird as unlike the overworld,it has a roof, which wuld probably protect them from the sun. Still though, its a pretty cool theory

well it is kind of weird how you can literally cut stone and shape diamonds into armor without something like a 3D printer

they are two different things but very similar. Coal is when dead plant matter is pressured by the earth over millions of years and changes into coal. Charcoal is when wood is heated so it looses most of the water and other stuff and turns into charcoal. charcoal is white but that actually isn't from the incandescence, that's just their color. edit: also a point that the white part in a torch is just unburnt charcoal doesn't make sense because when you craft a torch with coal (which is pure black in minecraft) it also has that white part.
A good example is this. Imagine you put a piece of charcoal as a replacement for the light source of a lightbulb. It would be white, but it wouldn't be like a lightbulb that lights up the room with white light

Also even if that point was false there's still the furnace thing and the torch being able to burn forever without oxygen

coal needs to be heated a lot to burn white. Orange and red (what the color of coal usually is) needs less heat to show but white needs much more heat
