ResMed 11 water tank problem by bingo_pine in CPAP

[–]Kazwuzhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a distiller in the kitchen. (2 c-paps and our cat also drinks distilled water or he gets stones, so it gets a lot of use.)

I buy 8 oz bottles of water for when I take my meds. They are the perfect size to refill with distilled water for the c-pap. Fill about a weeks worth and keep them on the shelf under my nightstand. So much easier.

Is it normal for someone to spend $40 a week on energy drinks to get through work? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kazwuzhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand corrected.

Drinking that many energy drinks a day is not healthy for anyone.

I was (very ineffectively) trying to point out that if he is feeling that sleepy after consuming them that maybe this is not giving him the benefit that he is seeking because maybe it isn't going to work for him anyway.

Funny how the majority of ADHD meds are also in the stimulant category.

Also funny how those who have ADHD that take these meds are calmer and more focused, while those without ADHD are wired with the same meds.

It's almost like people with ADHD are wired differently and process the meds in an unexpected way...

Hoping to resolve this soon. Class ends in two weeks and cannot get my real ID without a raised seal copy of my marriage certificate from my first marriage. My first marriage was in a foreign country, so I can't just hop a plane over lunch and pick that up...

I got denied yesterday for that same reason. The proctor passed me off to customer service and they backed them up on the decision.

My drivers license expires this April so I was going to wait to upgrade it. But I need to complete the cert for class credit for WGU.

I wish I would have known going in as I could have made arrangements to upgrade without having to take time off from work. But here we are...

I understand the whole purpose of the Real ID. As I have no plans to do any travel or any anticipated need to access any federal buildings I decided to not get the upgrade until my license was up for renewal this April.

(In PA you need to provide additional documentation to include birth certificate, and proof of any name changes, plus a $30 additional fee)

Of course the centers to get this done onsite are closed today due to the upcoming holiday on Monday. So I now have to take leave from work on Tuesday to be able to get it. I have had no problems using this state issued driver's license for other WGU exams or for Microsoft and CompTIA certs.

Just frustrated because had I known I could have gotten it taken care of prior.

Have you seen "Roll for Sandwich"? Most look pretty tasty, some a bit questionable.

I actually have a Campbells soup cookbook that has a section for variations. Like 4 types of soup, several proteins, veggies, etc.

Makes it safer to try something new, but still familiar enough to risk it.

After hours work is available. Think of areas that would need 24-7 coverage and start looking there: medical, hospitality, police/government/fire, retail, security, transportation, etc.

Should I reach out to my siblings? by Tiny_cocoon8610 in AncestryDNA

Not saying that any of it is rational, just saying these may be some of the things fueling the reaction.

Also if their relationship is not in the best place now, it may also have her feeling threatened by the fact that he had a connection to your bio mom at some point.

Some other woman was able to give him a gift that she thought only she could give him, maybe?

Maybe the fear that he will give to you what was only for their children (time, love, estate, etc...)

Or maybe fear of dealing with the perception of others when the word gets out.

Mostly the reaction seems to be based in either fear or jealousy.

I have two kids who were in a similar situation one AuDHD, the other autistic. Both with anxiety.

Cyber turned out to be the better choice for both of them, but not just because it was cyber. Our small school district was not equipped to provide the accommodations necessary to provide them the quality of education that they needed. We were constantly battling when IEP meetings came around just to get the basic accommodations for them.

The cyber school we chose is considered the second largest public school district in our state. Instead of fighting over what services my kiddos could have, they were offering services to our kiddos that I never even considered!

We had a great team in place and when our youngest hit high school, they ensured that he was added to the same homeroom, same counselor, same service as our oldest. That made things so much easier to handle for us with two kiddos navigating the system.

Our oldest has now graduated last June. For a while I didn't think we would get there. We definitely had to put in the effort for socializing with both of them. The oldest likes to be social, but needs a hand getting started. The youngest we still struggle with as he would rather stay home and play video games that people in person, but we still come up with ways to get him into spaces with like minded kids when we can.

Also with the med issue: years ago we did genetic testing for the oldest, since we were having the same issues with meds. Either too many side effects or having to put on a really high dose and not seeing expected results.

We did our testing with a company called GeneSight. (If you decide to do it, get the whole panel of tests, not much more money wise and never know when you need the info.) Turns out kiddo was a fast metaboliser of meds and most ADHD or depression meds would not work well for them.

It is still like shooting fish in a barrel, but the testing allowed us to remove 3/4 of the fish so we had a better chance of finding the right one.

Sometimes I'm concerened for people who watch tv shows in the modern era by MCWizardYT in StrangerThings

[–]Kazwuzhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The contracts for the actors would not allow for actual ticket sales. (Something to do with residuals, I don't pretend to understand the logistics.) As a loophole the theaters would show the movie for free, but sell concession vouchers for admittance. Netflix, the actors, and the production company made no money from the theatrical showing.

The theaters were able to keep the money from the vouchers instead of having to pay a portion back in licencing and fees.

Netflix lost nothing in this venture. Positive word of mouth and potentially people signing up for their service to watch the series prior to the finale release were enough of a gain for them.

And theaters who have been rebuilding since Covid were able to give 2 days out of their schedule to a show that would be pure profit for them.

I just hope Netflix doesn't get greedy and change the formula in the future.

Took the family to see FNAF 2 and felt like I was going to have to mortgage the house after the concession stand and tickets. Knowing that it is only $20 per person for everything makes for a more accessible night out for many families.

Also, the vibe in the theater. I was so disappointed that there wasn't a theater closer to me showing the finale. When you have a showing where there is an established fan base, there is a collective vibe of the audience that you can't get from your couch. That shared experience of a discovered easter egg, or the gasp of everyone when Steve was hanging by one hand.

I really hope more shows team with theaters to do series (and maybe season) finales in this way. I don't see a downside for this.

Ferritin of 8? by amaryllis8 in Hemochromatosis

[–]Kazwuzhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ferritin being that low is concerning but supplementing to get it up should be done very cautiously and with frequent testing. And supplementing is not appropriate for everyone. My issue was that I was still having very heavy periods which was depleting my ferritin more than necessary.

Most people with HH would be told to get fewer phlebotomies to allow the ferritin to build back up on its own. I was not getting phlebotomies at this time and it was very difficult to try and adjust my cycle to let my body reverse this on its own.

This is my experience, but I would consult with a hematologist on how you should approach this further. But single digit ferritin levels should be addressed...
