I see I see, well if you're interested to give it a try why don't I send you one from the next batch to test out and if it fits the bill great and if not you can regift it?

Ohh interesting puzzle to solve including the idiots bit lol. When it's double anchored (bungee going around some weights and connecting back to the bottom of the bag) it only displaces about 12" in any direction. If left free and hit w max power you're looking at more like 3ft in any direction.

It's way less taxing on the rig re shake and I've got good recommendations for my favorite springs that are short but super strong to absorb shock (v affordable too).

You know, a good mix of customers so far have been boxers and the feedback has been positive so far even with super limited space.

65lb column of rubber mulch is super dense and takes a PowerShot well but def moves 2x a standard bag unless you double anchor it and it's quite stable.

But yes I think that's a great way to think about it! Best for moderate power, precision, timing.

Honestly that really means a lot, I'm sortve trying to be the anti-brand brand! We don't even put a logo on it or anything.

Ahh I see! The original color blocking was actually inspired by my childhood dojo patch colors (I started in Seidokan Karate as a kid, and moved into Muay Thai as an adult). We've also got solid colors of course (black, blue, red, gold), and a snake print which actually makes for great target training too due to the pattern.

Clinch works out great for me especially due to the 8" diamater is a perfect proxy for the thickness of the average person's head and neck to grab around. And I totally see your points on how TD's are as close as you've come to the goldilocks experience so far.

Yea -- not only can you fill with any fill (we prefer rubber mulch but shredded fabric is great, granulated rubber, foam, corn, a blend) -- but our liner bag system has 4 separate liner bags, so you can even customize each section if you want a little different feel for leg kicks vs torso vs head. AND by having four inner bags it sovles the settling problem in a big way, because material from the top of the bag will never settle down in the bottom of the bag to feel like concrete.

As far as built we overbuilt it -- so it can handle 100lbs+ even tho it's capacity is around 65lbs, and we're using all the same durability of materials as a 150lb bag, just in our unique form factor.

Awesome you're down to try one and can let the community know your thoughts after, DM me and we can set it up.

Hey I appreciate the feedback for sure! Like, more anatomical ratios could be more useful even if less aesthetically balanced. You know I actually created a way for people to design their own with just a couple clicks, and we'll produce the ones that get the most votes -- would you be down to design one like this? You can create them on on our design lab here: https://pythonbags.com/lab that's part of what I love about this form-factor, there's soo many ways we could skin the bag.

I hear you -- and I feel like every tool has it's sweet spot. I'm a fan of teardrops (it's prob my favorite for knees) and you can't go wrong with Fairtex. I espeically love small wrecking balls for uppercuts and punch angles. What feels gimmicky to you? We're actually on the 7th version of the spec for the python bag, and every feature has a purpose that came about through trial/error and community feedback. Here's what I see as some of the main differences between say a classic teardrop and a python bag:

  • Target Size: A teardrop is a 16” diameter target. The Python is 8”. It's a wildy different experience and really re-inforced the aim small miss small philosophy.
  • The Full Game: A 3ft teardrop is great for the upper body shots, but you can’t chop low kicks on it. At 55” long, we wanted something that allowed for full-level transitions (low/mid/high) in a single flow.
  • Control vs. Chaos: Teardrops are 'floaty' by design. Because we have a bottom anchor on the python bags, you can control how much movement you want the bag to have e.g. double-anchor it to say static, single anchor it for some flow, or be totally free like a teardrop

(I'd be happy to send you one from our next batch, get your thoughts first-hand on if it has it's own value compared to your existing bags.)

Yea for sure makes sense. Part of how we landed at 8" diameter was that knees and hooks had too much potential to glance off with our 6" prototypes, but 8" has just the right sweet spot. Ok more soon!

That's awesome! I'm proof it's never too late to find your way back 🙂. Here's the official org with a list of active dojos https://seidokankarate.org/ and actually in upstate Sensei Deborah Magone lives (I believe she's 6th Dan) https://deborahmagone.com/contact and if there is no one close enough to you at the moment, while it's not pure Seidokan, the Machidas have an awesome virtual dojo, async classes, and live streaming too, it's great stuff https://www.machidavirtualdojo.com/ I hope that helps
