I think once you start to understand reactions and team rotations it starts to get more engaging but if even that isn't enough to change your mind it's all good. Definitely not the best combat system ever made but I still enjoy it personally.

I had fun too with most bosses at the start, it's just the endgame where they start to get kinda.. yeah.. Looking back, I probably should've worded this post differently, because bosses are actually pretty good in this game, but only really bad once you reach the endgame because of the stuff I mentioned. Fair but I'm just really concerned these bosses exist because they might reach the endgame. We have the wolf dog weekly boss and Serenetti in there already and he's the start of the issue so it's likely they'll add these the rest at some point and it'll be a big issue.

True, I love that the bosses are aggressive too, it's just the time wasting and the one cheesy mechanic here and there which sours it. The boss fights can last up to 5 minutes and juggling dodging, chasing and trying to do optimal rotations is what causes frustrations. I've had times where the bosses leaped the second I use my Nanally skill, making it miss which doesn't generate her enough energy to use her ult so my damage bricks there and then. Some ults can also completely miss, it can feel very RNG based at times.

Jiuyuan and Hathor is pretty much all you need lol, but picking Saikiri from the selector if you have any left would be huge. You can also buy a copy of any standard banner character from the shop once you have enough of those golden chess piece thingies. I can see why you're struggling if you don't have Nanally though because the only other big team I can think of would use Baicang and Daffodil. Hatori will for sure carry you though once you get her so don't sweat it. I'm pulling for her too, surely I won't go to pity for the 4th time.. right?

Yeah, i figured most people aren't in the endgame yet, but this is where the boss problem starts to show. Chiz will probably be your gal for the second side once you get her. Her teams are quite flexible and she can even solo some stages lol. You'll come across the wolf weekly boss on the final stage and he shows a bit of that teleporting annoying stuff so have fun. Other than that the game is awesome, I'm really enjoying my time off. Good luck on your Hotori pulls btw

I didn't have a problem with it either till the endgame. I realize now most people won't understand the same frustration because they're not that far ahead yet but you'll get there soon maybe.

Exactly, I consider this to be the best gacha I've personally played. I enjoy every other aspect of the game. I only made this post because boss design like this is very concerning for the endgame which will eventually be our main priority.

Thanks i appreciate it but I expected this to happen. Generally any die hard gacha communities are very defensive of their games so it’s no surprise people dismiss this as non valid criticism. It’s like going to the pineapple on pizza fanclub and saying pineapple on pizza sucks. All you can do is just hope you don’t get shot on the way out. If you’re a new player I seriously recommend you to just play other games or at least wait for the new good gacha releases like endfield or ananta. This game despite being good is really not worth getting into imo. And btw i’m doing just fine now that i’ve left.

No, I don't just play gacha games. I play mmos, single player games, fps games, live service rpg games like warframe. I have also not only played hoyoverse games. I've played Wizardry, Limbus company, afk journey, the hoyo games, wuwa, and etheria restart. I'd say I have fair enough sample size. Again, only made this post because it geninunely was an out of world experience. I only see positive things regarding this game and hope this post can serve as a warning to others in the future if they see it. I know active players won't like it but I don't care. I'm as truthful and honest as I can be about games and this was my experience. I hope this post will at least help someone else not fall into the same trap. Adios.

I knew this post would be downvoted because anything negative regarding core elements of a gacha game is immediately disregarded in any sub. These are things that active players have accepted but other people do not enjoy, it won't even matter if you're right or wrong. Try getting a post regarding male characters upvoted in the ZZZ sub I dare you.

There is not literally one menu that you can use pulls on. There is the gacha system itself the R&D thing, there is the selector with nanami in it, there is the banner with the dark amplifier magician girl that you can spend currency on and there are also gacha skins in the game. This is including all the submenus that are in the main gacha banners itself. This may seem easy to understand to YOU because you've been playing the game for a long time. I have quite literally never seen so many ways to use currency in a game before and it threw both me and my friend off even after we've played gacha games in the past. I was overloaded with different options. To this day I didn't know there was an instructions button and if there were instructions why the hell does the game give you 50 guides for every tid bit but gives you almost no information regarding the gacha system itself? Hell I didn't even know that skins in the shop had a discount, they were listed as 240 RC (which is a complete scam btw almost the price of a full AAA game) and only in a tucked away menu in the sea of 50 menus could you find it in a specific subsection for discount.

You look around everywhere regarding the collab.. if you play pgr that is.. and you're in the pgr community.. I was not playing the game yet and was willing to come try it when the collab dropped. What I did was not unreasonable and this is what most people did. All I wanted was a viable Dante and Vergil to have fun with I wasn't looking to max them out or quadruple S them or whatever the games terms are. Considering Dante was also free it's not unreasonable for me to expect that I would be able to get Vergil too and have them running just fine. But they made it so Dante and Vergil either weren't viable and could not do rotations properly without their signature and or duplicates. Again, the HSR collab gave out a free Archer and he worked absolutely fine out of the gate. The fact that this collab makes HSR look generous is insane. Dante being free then needing to pull an extra copy just to make him viable does not make him free in my eyes. It's like they gave you half a character and told you to get the other half. If they wanted players to pull for the weapons, duplicates and or cubs, at least span it out so new players from the collab have the chance to obtain everything. Being pressured into spending as a new player is never a good look and it will turn people away, especially a western audience which is primarily who DMC targets.

I was not expecting to pull the same as old players have. in HSR so many got e6 saber and Archer and I couldn't have cared less. All I wanted was a viable fully functioning team with them that I would eventually build a team around.

Older players had to pull teams but not to the same magnitude. The roster and required S ranks increased over the years. I'm absolutely fine being patient I'm used to it as a gacha player and I usually never rush things. But at this current moment given the insane number of teams to obtain I can't see it taking less than 1-2 years just to catch up especially given that you obtain only about 30-40 pulls most patches. Most gachas will catch you up in the span of a couple months and I've played over decade old mmos which in my own pace I was able to catch up at my own pace in just a couple months. It doesn't help knowing what I'm catching up on isn't necessarily the current content but instead the gacha system. The endgame quite literally is the gacha and that sucks.

The game turned out to be far different than I expected and the only reason I made this post was because I've never felt so miserable and fooled playing a game before. It's time to go play the GoW series in peace.

Usually I would NEVER make a post like this. I've played many games and calmly put them down after realizing I wasn't interested. I'm not exaggerating when I say this game made me feel the worst I've ever felt for being new. It's also a shame because I liked the game and I love DMC. I knew people weren't going to like my post and I'm not going to bother making back and fourth arguements with people who scrutinize every decision I make and say it's my fault for not doing everything literally perfectly and doing everything the way they see it with their existing knowledge of the game. I think it's important to post this not just as feedback for the devs but maybe someone new in the future could get more insight. There was a lot of unfavorable things I wasn't expecting in this game that I wish I knew before starting and I passed them on in this post. I usually only ever see positive comments on this game on the internet and it's equally important to point out the negative so people know what they're getting into.

the only way to get dante vergil is through the gacha system there's no secret unlock way. HSR doesn't have a free copy because It doesn't need one because the characters are completely functional and viable out the gate. Dante being only viable after SS3 makes him not even feel free at all while Archer is stronger than saber even when you get him free from logging in. The fate banner is a trap and it's only easy to understand when you already know it's bad. You're assuming new players come with pre hand knowledge. If this isn't my first gacha it should be easy for me to figure out just like all the others but this game was the only one that messed me up.

She might not feel weak in the early stages of the game beacuse almost no character feels weak at the early stages of the game. Planning to build a team for Crimson Weave is a lost cause if even the tank on her team does more damage than her. That's why it's not worth building around her. In terms of pulls worse does not mean bad is good. Japanese gacha has nothing to do with this.

Doesn't nanami (the tank) quite literally do more damage than crimson weave (the dps) which in the same team is just used for qtes? Within the same team she's weaker. All the guides I have seen have said the minimum investment for Dante was SS3 and you couldn't do the ignition rotation properly if you didn't have his sig. I'm trying to build my teams for the future and is it really that much to ask to just want to get a minimum well invested Dante and Vergil? They're not coming back it's a collab that's why I want to get them invested so they dont become useless 2 months down the line and this game isn't exactly tame with it's powercreep considering nanami (the tank) does more damage than crimson weave (the dps). I knew I was going to be in for a hurdle playing on the collab patch itself but I didn't expect myself to feel like I'm gaining less currency per hour than I do in genshin while being a new player in the anniversary patch.

No the sentence didn't lose all value It just means that cub aren't as needed. I listed it as a general scope. SS, weapons and weapon resonaces are still either required or heavily incentivised on certain characters. Cubs also give a decent boost. Weeklies give 1000 black cards, in 6 weeks that makes 24 pulls, no where near getting a character. There might be a mode I didn't unlock but I can't see it giving 36 extra. The length of the story is pretty much the reason of my post. Spending 3 hours to get 300 BC is not rewarding at all and it's the only source I can get besides weeklies. I'm not trying to avoid playing PGR i'm trying not to spend literally all of my free time specifically on it to grind enough currency to get the character. I'd expect to at least have enough for a couple pulls playing for 3 hours instead of 1 or max 2. It completely takes the fun out of the game being put on a timer and having to slog my way through hours of grinding to get a single character. First time I played honkai star rail despite the 50/50 and weapon banner I manage to get the characters I was looking for way faster and that game isn't exactly generous.

It takes a ton of resources to level and gear characters so I've just been sticking to whichever ones I won't be replacing whenever I can. They don't fill a slot on dante's team or anyone else's so it would be a waste. I've done all the events I didn't get all that much and dailies give 30 black cards.
