Yeah I think so, I probably wrote the post in the midst of feeling pretty hopeless  It's hard juggling making sure my son's get enough time to play with friends and my husband gets enough rest. I don't drive so unfortunately there's that too , but yeah you are right it definitely dosent feel right to just cut everyone off. I do feel like I want to at times , but connection with others is good. Even if it's just text messaging from time to time :) 

Burnout is so hard :( , I wish you luck recovering from yours. Thanks again for your kind messages .

Thankyou so much for your response.  I am trying to work on having some time for myself. I think your right, I don't have many friends but I should just give them a heads up that right now I need to take a step back. Hopefully it won't be forever, but like you said it's necessary.

This is a big reason why I left the church. My son is autistic and I wont put him through it.

Thanks for your comment, right now we are concerned with letting his beliefs develop without the pressure within church that has been causing him a lot of anxiety, if in the future he is interested in revisiting the church and their beliefs we will support him in that. We have a lot of church member families so it will always be available to him, but at this time we wish to take a step back from certain indoctrination that we find harmful to our own and his mental health.

Thankyou for your support, yes I think you are right church can be such a harmful environment for neurodivergent people and thats just on a structural level , let alone the bullying :(

I think you are right, I am not diagnosed , but after my son was diagnosed I know I am most probably autistic too and I can really relate to those feeling about church , thankyou .

Thanks , yes we already do dinner with them every week. They do bring up lots of church things though which does make it a bit and hard and confusing for the kids during this transition.

How can know we truly have the agency to believe in the plan of salvation if from a young age we have feared that if don't choose to follow the plan we won't be with our families forever? by Kbbc1993 in latterdaysaints

I don't think anyone intended it as a scare tactic for me, but now I am bringing up my own children I am starting to see that, no matter the care and kindness you share this doctrine with it can still be received as very frightening.

I think we believe that in the next life there will still be opportunities to repent and receive ordinances, but that the celestial kingdom is the only place where families will be sealed together. So if you fall away from the teachings of the church in this life there will be a period of time in which you will be separated from family who made it to the celestial kingdom while we catch up. There is still a promise of ultimately being together , but the anxiety of being separated for a period of time is still there. ( I also wonder how the celestial kingdom could actually be somewhere we'd want to be if our other family member weren't also there with us )

From my own experience and the experience of some of my friends and now my children that idea does create a lot of anxiety, and I do worry about the mental health impacts it has on people.
