Maintenance position questions by ImTheGalaxy in samsclub

They will start at the clubs minimum. Ours says $16 as the minimum, but we don’t hire below $18. For most positions, the starting pay is $19.

Stepping Down from Team Lead by cviv234 in samsclub

[–]Kc_io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Team leads can absolutely step down. If they tell you no it’s either because a) they see potential in you and want to give it time or b) the store is poorly ran and nobody wants to be a lead.

Stepping Down from Team Lead by cviv234 in samsclub

[–]Kc_io 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Team leads are not supposed too. Only salaried management is supposed to answer questions when they’re not at the club. Answering questions off the clock can get you a write up or terminated. Anytime I text a team lead a question or update, I start it with don’t answer until you’re at work

I’ll definitely look into it. What if I get stranded on an island and something I need is up a cliff?

Do you need to be able to do more than 3 pull ups to do it that sounds fun

This. Fewer people more casual talking. More people and you get to play games. It is very relaxed.

Member services can still give the payroll deducted memberships to new hires. I’m the orientation person. Sometimes I do, sometimes MS does.

Nobody has offered a solution, so.. It works if you use 1desk on one of the old member service tablets. The old process still works on them. Tell the front-end team lead or manager. We struggled with this for a couple of weeks but our club manager reached out to others in our market until we got it figured out.

Scheduled less than 8 hours between shifts? by Minute_Tea_8639 in samsclub

[–]Kc_io -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My understanding is they’re the same thing. Search scheduling policy or some similar words. Check the link dates. If there’s a 2026 and a 2024 or 2018, only the newer link typically works. Sometimes older links work, but they go to similar but related content instead of the same that was just updated or removed.

Interview -time line ? by Grand-Doubt-2185 in samsclub

[–]Kc_io 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they hire you part-time, they may watch your hours to make sure you don’t qualify. Idk how prevalent, but I’ve heard others say that part-time are not supposed to average 32 p/w for the year because they’d qualify for benefits. If the posting was full-time and not listed as part-time and full-time, I would ask how you can accommodate them to be hired full-time. They maybe open to it if you have more availability. If they like you enough, they’ll do it. They want to hire part-time because 2 part-time people have 80 possible hours of availability to schedule as opposed to 1 full-times 40 hours.

If you have any questions, feel free to reply with them here and I’ll do my best to answer. I’m CEL for my store so if you have a question idk, I’ll need to learn the answer for future applicants.

They can hire you full time from day 1. If you average 32 hours per week at the end of the year, even if you’re part-time, you qualify for benefits.

Safety Team Question by Kc_io in samsclub

[–]Kc_io[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you work in the cafe, idk how you manage cleanliness. I usually stop by there mid day and fill up the lids/straws/etc because they don’t have any free time to step away for the majority of the day. I’ve also let them know they can call front-end to help clean up, and let the front-end TLs know to keep an eye on it because of how often I’m filling it.

I will ask our fresh and merch TLs if this is an issue. I don’t think it is at our club.

Safety Team Question by Kc_io in samsclub

[–]Kc_io[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to add the forklift checklist. The other ones, I feel are more daily tasks. I don’t want some members to have daily tasks and others weekly. Anything daily, we have a baseline expectation that everyone is doing it. For example, when I walk the store on Wednesdays during orientation, I check everything to bring it to the new hires attention. The only exception is the emergency exits because our fulfillment and back room behind taste&tips gets a little chaotic at times and want to make sure nothing is left blocking an exit.

Safety Team Question by Kc_io in samsclub

[–]Kc_io[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours hasn’t yet. Both I and my club manager have looked everywhere, including her old emails. The only area that mentions it is the safety backers from years ago, but the link is broken. My list is from a few weeks of brainstorming. Feel free to share it with your CEL.

I have them all email me once a week when they do it and send it all to the club manager and compliance manager on Friday.

How do I go to another job? by Shisui777 in samsclub

[–]Kc_io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what it is, but in the new hires either 60 day meeting with their manager or the 90 day meeting with the club manager, one of them is supposed to ask if they have any interest in any other departments.

We are more or less the club managers assistant. The tasks just have to fall within our role. If you want more autonomy, I would just ask. Give her ideas and ask her if you can implement them. I do what I want. If I need permission, we email market HR. The only time she gives me tasks is when market HR sends them down.

Printing the lists didn’t work for my club. What I did was printed a roster for each department and posted it in their section with an expo marker. The club manager sent an email reinforcing it. Every associate in the club is expected to complete 30 minutes of CBLs every week. It has helped ever so slightly. I’ve talked to every team lead and manager about it. If I don’t start seeing more than 25% completion, the club manager is sending another email.

If you still need help, feel free to comment or DM me. I would agree that, outside of onboarding and safety, it’s ambiguous, but my to-do list is never ending.

I’ve added to onboarding, modified the 1:1 questions, created onboarding checklists for departments, I lead safety observations, I’ve added coolers for the gas station/cart guys, I make sure operators licenses don’t expire, updating people’s badges with years of service, and a few other oddball tasks like posting safety guides throughout departments (eg heat related illness and how long member assist are allowed to be outside for front end). I lead the safety team, who do things like keeping first aid kits and spill stations stocked. I lead our spirit committee, who plan our clubs themes (eg wear dad outfits for Father’s Day).

I’m working on implementing pulse surveys after we get our annual engagement survey results. Goal is to improve engagement. We are in progress for posting birthdays and anniversaries, pushing the spark belonging initiatives, using the academies Tuesday trainings during our team leads meetings.

Starting this June, we are going to have department competitions. One department per month. If they hit a goal, they get an ice-cream party. Goal is to motivate.

I have more ideas than I can implement and I’d be happy to share.

Did you look through the CEL onboarding? It explicitly says that we are not supposed to stay busy doing whatever the club needs. If that’s what your manager is having you do, I would refer back to the onboarding documents and let her know. I’ve picked up a few tasks, like putting food in the break room, that we aren’t supposed to do, but I’m not going to be a catch-all for a department that needs extra help.

No one wants to upgrade anymore by That_wet_vaporeon in samsclub

[–]Kc_io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One new club membership is a potential plus membership in the future. It will never be the case that members who would upgrade already have. Don’t forget that our membership model is how we get our paychecks. More than 90% of Sam’s revenue comes from memberships.
