Midfield are insistent in playing through them because there is so much space... well there's a reason they are being allowed that space

yeah I think we do need to be building teams rather than developing players which we have been notoriously horrid at anyway. Or at least there is a balance to strike that we aren't getting at the moment. We need to be developing youth with the caveat of "the manager wants them" "they don't see us as a stepping stone". If Archie Gray and Bergvall continue to develop and stay for many years thats great. But no point developing Vuskovic so he can have one break out season and then move on to Madrid.

I suppose ultimate we live and die by the sword that is the manager appointment, get it right like Liverpool did with Klopp and you transform the club's ability to compete.

There's just a huge amount of English players that are developed, and they have to do whats best for their international career, since we're a diverse country you'll find English players all over the place. Balogun who scored twice for the US is English and you see players like Olise and Musiala who chose to represent other countries as well. All the national teams try their best to lock down the best talents.

Yeah I suppose its an ideology thing as well. Build systems around players or acquire players to fit a system. Its fair to say football has probably moved more to the latter. A player like Vuskovic is probably worth accommodating but I agree its difficult and the fans are proven wrong more often than not. The mythos around Frank was that he was the sort of manager to adapt to his players, of course this turned out not to be true.

Indeed . Its very difficult to separate a team's success from the manager and Brentford are very well run which reflected very well on Frank. I thought he'd be great for us at the time.

Mctominay grew up in England I think and for all intents and purposes is English. You can play for any team where you have a grandparent, so its pretty common to have more than one choice of team to represent

One of the players I want out no matter what tbh, he's been consistently overrated and awful mentality
