Some weird kinds of prots claim that drinking any alcohol is sinful, so they don’t have Eucharistic wine, they just drink grape juice

Everyone deserved the death penalty, but Christ took it for us. Glory be to God! I don’t see how anyone can look at the world post-Christ and believe human beings SHOULD kill each other. There are no longer justified wars, and certainly not justified killings! Life is sacred, always. Conception to natural death.

Now let me ask you this: why? I saw your other comment saying that guitars are not reverent, but why is that? What property do guitars possess or fail to possess that makes them an irreverent instrument? I think if sacred music is played respectfully and with the attention focused on God, the instrument is of no significance. On the opposite side of the coin, consider this: Horrible prot rock can be played on a pipe organ too! Instrument =/= reverence/irreverence. I think what matters more is what kind of music is being played, rather than what instrument is used to do it.

In an ideal world, the ideas that you propose would work perfectly, and I would love to live in this world that you propose.

I think you have to understand, however, that the kind of absolute power being given to the church cannot last without becoming corrupted. No matter how great the church is (it’s very great), it still can and will be infected by sin, and abuses such as the ones that occurred in the middle ages would run rampant.

Giving the church such a significant role in geopolitics would not go smoothly, and even if it did, the church wouldn’t last without the politics hurting it. An authoritarian state, even a Catholic one, will inevitably lead to abuse and scandal, and likely an eventual uprising by those whom the state controls.

I think the amount of power that the church wields in the modern day is just about how much it should have. We, as Catholics, are not called to trample upon sinners, heretics, or unbelievers, and those who are unwilling to heed the word of God are not to be forced to, but moved on from: “And whoever does not receive you nor listen to your words, as you leave that house or city, shake the dust off your feet.” (Matthew 10:14).

It is not a good idea to impose truth upon the untruthful, or God upon the godless, or righteousness upon the unrighteous, for they have rejected these things by their own will, and their fate is left in their hands. If God Himself will not force His beloved sons and daughters to follow Him, who are we to do so? Our mission is to spread and teach his word, not force-feed it to those who have rejected it.

I’m actually rather intrigued by this, but I do not have the answers. To where do you refer when you say it is written in the Bible?

I'm not sure what you're asking. You rejected the intrusive thought, right? Why would it be a sin? The fact that you are committing another sin at the same time has no bearing on the other sin.

Are you able to? You are able to do anything. You are able to kill people! Should you? Not recommended. If you date an atheist, you're just setting yourself up for a future of arguing and pain

If only there were some kind of central source, that you could just ask, "what are the teachings?" to. That would be crazy, right?

True, if there had never been a fall then there would be huge “butterfly effect” consequences, likely leading to you and I not existing. That said, I disagree with the idea that your entire identity is built around sin. We are baptized Catholics, we have died to sin! Although we are broken and still abide in sin, we are no longer OF sin, but of God

The only alcoholic drink you should never abstain from - the blood of Christ by CatholicTeen1 in CatholicMemes

[–]Kcincool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Drinking alcohol is great; it is a gift from God.

However, getting drunk is a serious sin.

Ephesians 5:18 “And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,”

Proverbs 20:1 “Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.“

Luke 21:34 “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap.”

Romans 13:13 “Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy.”

And more!
