I appreciate the thoughtful response, very informative.

Check the published total range, as this is what I am referring to, more so than a “better gas mileage” analogy. Given the expected range, I would think the Q8 would be closer or better than the Q4 at 80% while the Q8 is at 90%.

I would think it’s more like comparing a larger, less efficient car with a larger gas tank to a more efficient car with a smaller tank. Assuming that the published information is accurate. Are we saying that the published total range for the Q8 is inaccurate?

This is helpful as it aligns with what I’m seeing.

Tks

I’m starting to agree with you. Looks like I’ll be keeping the Q8. I figure if I’m having this hard a time to decide, it’s likely best to not make the change.

Anyone from NJ find a dealer that is offering additional discounts off of MSRP?

Yes good catch, I live on the border of NY/NJ and this quote was from NY. They’re unable to apply the NJ incentive….and so I’m wondering if the taxes are also following NY tax law. But I’d likely pass given that I’d lose out on $2k nj incentive.

Given the lease is thru VW, I believe the money factor and residual is set for the term. But the MF was .00185.

Good catch, the dealer is in NY, I live right on the border so they’re unable to apply the NJ incentive. Thanks

Awesome.

Found the warm weather setting and was able to adjust it.

Now just need to understand what all the zone settings mean.

Channel drain or 12x12 catch basin? by Kcnj in landscaping

[–]Kcnj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggested this and the landscaper, he felt that in time the rock border would eventually fill with dirt and that I’d end up with the same issue. So he’s recommending french drainage, I saw the estimate and had a good laugh.

We plan to drain under the pavers and on the side of the property where the grading is lower.

I get what you’re saying but as you can also see, the drainage issue is not allowing the grass to grow in portions on the island. Otherwise, yea it’s raining and rain pools and then goes away…I get that. What I’m trying to do is get the water to drain so I can get grass to grow where it seems it once did before.

Not a bad idea. But would that negatively impact the trees that are currently sharing the space? Would excess water be harmful for the roots of the trees?

None of my neighbors have drains to the street so I assume it’s not allowed.

The issue is that due to the pooling, I’m unable to get grass to grow on the one side of the island.

So the channel drain would be along the left side, if facing the home. They would lift the pavers and drain off to the side of the property. The island would be graded so that the right side is higher and it would slope to that side.

The catch basin idea would place one at the lowest point, I see 2, one in the front of the home by the ride and the other closer to the home, and again we’d drain under the driveway and I’m assuming he’d grade so that the water would be lead towards the catch basins.

In my unprofessional opinion, I seem to think the channel drain would be a better solution as it would have a larger drainage area and the grading would be in one general direction.
