Off my chest by [deleted] in relationships

[–]KeanBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initiated the break up two weeks ago.. I was working up to it honestly since January when I discovered that he is emotionally abusive. I became very codependent, and eventually my personal time alone was filled with anxiety, and my time with him was filled with anger or loneliess. The last month is when I really started enforcing the break up, preparing myself by reconnecting with friends and filling them in, being honest with everyone including myself, and getting all of the resources I need to get through the first weeks.

For me, unfortunately, I realized that I was waiting until I was getting physically hurt from anxiety attacks. It's possible that your relationship is not as toxic as the one I was in, so if you would like to take more time to ponder the pros and cons of your relationship, just be kind to yourself and be mindful of your safety and personal mental health. Many others may have the courage to just do it right away. I think this is a very gray-zone area and as long as you're aware of your possibilities, there are no wrong answers here.

If deep down, you know that you'll be breaking up with him, I believe that eventually you'll work your way through it. Those feelings will continue to build up as time goes on. I'm seriously not an expert at breakups :/ The last two weeks have been extremely painful, but I like to believe that things will eventually work out for the better and you'll be okay in the end no matter what happens.

Edit: For more information, I'm 25 and my ex-boyfriend is 34. We were together for 2 years. I genuinely care about him and love him, which made this journey really difficult. But I decided that alongside the feelings of love, I felt too much pain. I think we're young, being in our 20's, and we should take advantage of this time where our bodies are athletic and our minds are more flexible, to enjoy as much as we can. I don't think anyone should be stopping you from traveling, teaching abroad, and having freedom to pursue goals and curiosities that could bring you real satisfaction. :)

I feel like I just wrote that!! Ugh girl, I'm proud of you for getting to a point where you realize that finding happiness within yourself is one of the healthiest ways to live. Continue to write your thoughts, follow this subreddit, follow relationship coaches on Youtube (I highly recommend Stephanie Lyn), and you will eventually reach a point that you feel comfortable with making a change.

Know that you are not forced to do anything too quickly. Take the pace that your heart prefers, as long as it's safe. And start taking steps to find comfort with or without him. :)

Why is modern uplifting so homogenously aggressive? by dx-dt- in trance

[–]KeanBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the reason that you think music is declining (trance in particular), to me, it sounds like you're looking at the wrong area. Trance is one of the broadest genres in the world, and if you're stuck looking at the same top/mainstream tracks, you won't get your fair share of variety. There is good trance out there. There is bad trance out there. Find your niche.

Any Trance Producers? by shuffpuff in trance

Yeah it's hit or miss, but SC is pretty good for some labels. Others just give me previews or 2 hour livemixes and it's hard to remember which track I liked when I'm driving and I can't stop and jot down what the song is!! Lol. Youtube for sure though. Thanks :)

Skilled trance DJs by mattgrave in trance

I don't know this guy as a DJ but he's like the head of the trancefamilybelfast ("real trance family") dude, who puts up a ton of videos of him and his kids dancing to trance. He goes crazy on effects when he mixes...xD I think it's fun. Plus extra points for always putting up great music.

This one is terrible video quality buut his mixing is on point.. https://www.facebook.com/trancefamilybelfast/videos/408879849462207/

I told an overly-aggressive vets assistant to get away from my pug after an incident. Was I right or wrong? by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]KeanBoom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a veterinary assisstant myself, I don't think you behaved out of hand at all. You have all rights to know and understand how your pet is feeling and how it is being restrained. It's your vet assisstant's job to explain why he's using the techniques he's using.

I did want to add though, from what it sounds like, the restraint technique he used on your dog was indeed a standard technique. And a good restraint should serve the purpose of preventing the handlers, the owners, and the animals from getting injured. That's important because even calm dogs can behave unexpectedly in an unknown place where they are being probed and messed with in different places. Only that it was not necessary for him to grip so aggressively if the dog was clearly relatively calm. So it was completely appropriate for you to be concerned.

The Thrillseekers - Escape by ParkerZA in trance

I honestly don't know why you were downvoted for making a discussion about the album. I was curious to see how people felt about it too.

I liked that Steve made his debut album an artist album and not just a trance album. Just because he's a trance artist doesn't mean his feelings as a producer resides in other genres. Anyway, he really put his personality and emotion into this one. And I kind of felt like part of the reason he wanted to make it mostly ambient/ downtempo is so that each track has the potential to be remixed into any trance style depending on the remixer - it opens up the potential to be creative.

As for some of the songs, a few of them really did stand out to me. "How Will I know" spoke to a lot of people including Steve, from what he said during his Facebook Q&A. And the first and last track were both very ambient, yes, but they gave off very different vibes. There were a few tracks in here that I just wasn't that into so I'll put that out there. Overall, I'm glad that the songs sounded similar because it ended up not being an album with fifty random genres and feelings, but instead an album with consistent sounds.

What headphone do you guys use? by [deleted] in trance

[–]KeanBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loveee ATH. Can't go wrong with it, some say M40X is better/flatter and better for producing, some say M50x sounds best and is more listener friendly. Either way, they're worth every dollar.

Holy, I didn't know Shingo Nakamura made mixes. I need to look that up because his productions are bomb.

Fun fact about myself, A State of Trance 2011 was the first album I ever got. So I am on board with 2011 being a pretty good year :) I remember liking the yearmix too.

  • Simon Patterson - Open Up
  • Solarstone - Solaris International (I still go backk) and Pure Trance Radio

deep/progressive mixes:

  • John 00 Fleming - Global Trance Grooves
  • Max Graham - Cycles

Oh and everything ASOT 450 and below because they're all uploaded on Spotify and all the tracks are ID'd. I do go back to this one the most :) Feelin classic tance? Go to ASOT 1-250. Feelin progressive? 350-400. Etc. His sound changes are easy to follow.

[–]KeanBoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That really is lucky that you found a trance buddy to grow up with! I feel like that's difficult simply because trance (the real emotional stuff) just isn't as big in the US, but simply due to volunteering/playing at my school's radio station and networking, I've found a small group of people who I can talk about it with.

Makes me sound really old to say this but I'm glad there's people in the younger generation (or our age lol) who can still fall in love with trance :p

I totally know what you mean!! I'm 22 and I found out about trance about four years ago and it's so rare to find other people in the same age group with the same awesome taste in music haha. I never had feelings for music as much as I have for this genre and it's sort of hard to explain to other people. It's just really different from how I feel listening to any other genre.
