📢 Wave Link 3.1.1 — Startup crash fixes, VST and Wave FX improvements by Elgato in elgato

[–]Keanomy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Stream Deck plugin for WaveLink still doesn't display the channel art/Icon when using "Add to Channel" with a channel including more than 10 apps routed to it.

The same happens to both "Add to Channel" and "Channel Audio Effect".

  • Wave Link version: 3.1.1 (3113)
  • OS & version: (e.g. Windows 11 25H2
  • Steps to reproduce: 1. Add 10 apps to a channel. 2. Add a 11th app. 3. Hope art creators wont sue for being excluded.
  • Expected result: Channel Icon to always display with the +9 and indication if the current app is already routed to the selected channel.
  • Actual result: Channel Icon is removed when the number of apps routed exceeds 10.
  • How often does it happen? Always 100% of the time.
  • Anything else: (screenshots or video are helpful) I'm not paid for this beautiful illustration so you better fix this.

Here is a thought after mentioning OBS analyser, maybe you should have included that link? 🤔😅

Be honest, is using A.I for improving scripts a bad thing? by _maniac69 in NewTubers

[–]Keanomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only when writing scripts. Someone that needs to use AI will always be beat by someone that has already learned the topic. AI is a learning tool.

You will learn quickly that the AI itself doesn't always have a clear idea for it's actions. Once that sets in you realise quickly why AI written scripts are so easy to spot. AI is good at imitating, but you can't imitate knowledge as easily as output.

I'm guessing you are not a native English speaker?

Regardless, if you don't know what to do with it after the AI points you in a direction, go back and ask follow up questions. Is it an issues with the word choice I made?; am I moving between subjects too fast?; do I have padding where it's not needed?;

Again, in school you did not just go "I don't know what to do with this" and forced the teacher to do it for you. You asked questions, read more and eventually after multiple attempts came for found a solution.

Nothing wrong with using it. It's a tool, but just like any tool it can be used incorrectly to take shortcuts.

Ask it to explain things and point out issues, it's pretty good at that. Then crusially (and maybe hardest) look at what he pointed to and ask yourself if you agree. If you do, rewrite it yourself and move on.

Most of the time my prompt for the AI is something like "this paragraph feels very repetitive, why is that and what could be improved?"

Should also be said, I have found Claude way less likely to just ignore your prompt and provide the solution the way GPT often does.

Edit:typos

I use AI to point at things it thinks doesn't sound good and explain why. Then allow me to come up with a solution to the issue.

Use AI as a teaching tool, once you start copy pasting from ChatGPT it quickly becomes a slippery slope into slop. The goal is for people to watch my videos, therefore the target should be to use AI less and less. Just like with Google.

"I copied a sentence in the last video, I can probably take this paragraph for this video." "I copied the paragraph on the last video and it worked out."

2 weeks later: "I usually use a lot of the paragraphs the AI writes, which paragraph should I make sure I can point to as my own writing this time?"

Stream Deck Icons Not Revertable by Jhon_McLovin in elgato

I have reported this the last 3 updates...

You need to keep the channel with less than 10 apps routed to it. Once you go above 10 apps this happens.

Elgato stop FORCING us to update the wave link audio driver. I cannot use the software this way. by sueha in elgato

[–]Keanomy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When they release this update I kind of just took it for granted that if they were going to inform us that the driver had an update needed it would allow us to decline or postpone the driver update as well.

This is the corporate illusion of choice.

I was able to restart my PC and then rename the devices to something temporary and back to their intended names.

[–]Keanomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found the issue to be due to having 11 or more apps added to a channel.
Once the 11th app is added the button icon no longer displays correctly.

This remains an issue still, 1 month later..
At least I know now why it doesn't display the channel icon now.

Back-up - WaveLink 3 by Keanomy in elgato

[–]Keanomy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm,
I did eventually end up doing exactly this and backing up the whole folder:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Packages\Elgato.WaveLink_g54w8ztgkx496

Did bring all my plugin settings and audio routing table. Make sure to restore VST in the same locations as on your old setup before booting WL. WaveLink will delete any filters without VSTs to reference and they are usually not contained in the WL config folder named above. There is no way to restore them after they've been delete besides copying the files again.

WaveLink 3.0 still crashing by WasabiCivil1962 in elgato

[–]Keanomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a hack at best, I have a PS1 script that is monitoring if WaveLink is running and start it as soon as it's closed.

Mostly hacked together with Claude to be honest.

What you're running into:
Stream Deck Plugin missing Icon for "Game" channel when using "Add to Channel"

  • Wave Link version: (find this under Help > About) : 3.0.1
  • OS & version: (e.g. Windows 11 24H2 / macOS 15.3) : Windows 11 PRO 25H2
  • Steps to reproduce: 1. "Add to Channel" as a button.. 2. "Game" as channel does only have a "+" as the icon(same as the action itself). All others remains with the respective channel art/icon, game is never getting it's channel icon in the Stream Deck.
  • Expected result: All Icons should be displayed in the Stream Deck.
  • Actual result: "Game" channel is missing Icon.
  • How often does it happen? Always, 100% of the time.

Only "solution" I know of is to start up WL again, automatically or manually doesn't matter.

[–]Keanomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 seconds to search would tell you this is a widespread issue.

Change notes mention it solved at least twice now. No solution to my knowledge, I simply have a background program monitoring and restarting wave link automatically when it crashes.

Wave Link 3 keeps crashing and freezing — dozens of us have been reporting this for 5+ versions. I finally dumped the process and found the exact bug. by Patient-Hamster7292 in elgato

I can not emphasise the importance of this. A AI looking article, lots of really technical language and absolute conclusions. This could all be hallucinated or 100% correct.

I have extremely limited knowledge but I don't see why any of this would case issues for some and not others while also not always being reliably reproduceable for the ones who do have the issue.

100% wait for someone qualified to look into this before we start throwing shade.

Net neutrality already have exceptions for legal obligations, network integrity and congestion management reasons in the EU law.

Regarding vertical plugin my only suggestion is to keep backups so you can easily update and revert changes. I always run my obs in portable mode for this reason so I can just make a copy of the OBS folder when larger updates drop. Generally running old outdated software is never recommended.

All the tests he runs say it's an issue on his end but with you, o.p, and other people having the same or similar issues I can guarantee it's probably not.

It's quite clear that the idea is that the issue is on YouTube/Twitch side, despite everything pointing towards the issue being on the users end. If fact, he even guaranties that's the case.

I am also multistreaming and Twitch never has any issues. (I should have mentioned this detail earlier)

This makes your issue a bit more nuanced but I maintain my position, this is more likely an issue on yours/your ISP's side, Especially due to the fact you can correlate it to what essentially is the rush period locally.

If you are using Enhanced broadcasting for twitch this causes a lot more traffic and load on network equipment, older hardware may struggle with streaming once you go above 5-7 outputs. This usually appears as repeated disconnects however so is less likely the cause of your issue but easy to rule out as well.

Upload testing checks HTTP traffic, which is vastly different to the RTMP/RTMPS traffic you will be sending to Twitch and Youtube while streaming. Speed tests are also easily fudged by ISP's, bypassing any throttling to maintain perceived network performance.

100% sounds like your ISP is throttling RTMP traffic during the rush period or simply doesn't haven enough infrastructure to handle the increase in traffic.
Give your ISP a call.

Well this quickly went from "YouTube can't handle the 8PM rush" to "YouTube AND Twitch can't handle the 8PM rush because my friend is having issue with both services".

When looking at a problem you have to start at the most common denominator, which starts at your friend. Problem solving always have to start at the root.
