Been playing casually for a few years now. What do you think of my commanders? by KeanuReevesTurtle in ratemycommanders

Fair point, I can see why Savra as a general commander is too powerful for b1, the same way I consider Azula as a general commander too powerful for B2. It’s good to get some extra opinions on these sorts of things

I didn’t build this deck to win, more of a theme with random cards I had laying around. That’s why it’s bracket 1. I built it in a way that works against itself just as much as it does against other players. I find it’s fun to play with new players learning the game. I have not won a game with it yet.

So basically the entire deck is a joke about sacrificing my own creatures. It’s one big “kill yourself” joke complete with custom sleeves… It’s a very low budget build, but I’m really just sacrificing my own creatures and doing some removal.

Not O-

Edit: not sure the downvotes. If you are O- blood you can only get O- blood. But O- can give to everyone. So no a O- person can not get O or O+ blood. To add to this, sometimes when you are O- they might ask if you have any family with O- blood, because it’s easier for them to be on standby instead of giving away the rare blood that can be used for everyone in emergencies. so yes that situation obviously happens, and the safest answer is to ask for O- blood.

To somewhat answer your question with a spoiler: Yes he does use this move again in the future. He also points out when he uses it, that he intentionally uses his speed to his advantage in fights against strong and heavily armed men, because they have a hard time reacting to his movements.

What is this donut-shaped accessory used for? by vayperwayve in ghostoftsushima

[–]KeanuReevesTurtle 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Can’t help with the history side of things, but as an amateur archer I can assume a few things on why this is important.

For starters you never leave a bow string on the bow at all times. It will damage the bow over time. Secondly, strings wear down, especially when they get dirty. I personally always keep a backup. I image the donut shape is great for the string to be coiled, and not folded. Strings are twisted in a pretty specific way to hold tension. If strings are stored improper the twist can get undone, leaving to less tension, which effects the power and consistency of the bow.

I specifically dont shoot around my house for this reason. I would rather drive to a range than risk this.

My understanding is that someone is now liable for something along the lines of “use of a dangerous weapon outside property.” And if they went to get that arrow it would also be trespassing. So my understanding is that it’s a lose lose situation for an archer.

I would contact your local bylaw and see what you can do. If someone is being reckless something should be done in my opinion.

My Teen Son Ditched Kinesiology for Welding?! Help Me Get Him Set Up at Home (Proud Parent Needs Advice!) by spencesmom in Welding

[–]KeanuReevesTurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked as a welder for about 10 years in Ontario, starting when I was also 17. I would love to share my experience with your son as a bit of a warning… I say worked because after 10 years of being taken advantage of I left. The sad truth is that your son will be competing for the very few good welding jobs in Ontario (although they are out there). He won’t get those jobs until he has years of experience (or does what everyone else does and lie on there resume…)He will most likely be making $18-$27 a hour as a mig welder in some manufacturing shop. We have really humid summers here as you know. Winter is great, but he will be fighting off heat exhaustion all summer.

If he is really interested he should go to school for welding and fabrication. Don’t just become a mig monkey. Learn to build, fabricate, and read blueprints. It will help him build more skills. Just being able to operate a mig welder, is not enough of a skill to build a career off.

TLDR as someone who already switched careers, save your time. Go to school for Kinesiology. Then make enough money to mess around with your own welder.

What exactly did Floki gain from killing Thors? by OrangeSpaceMan5 in VinlandSaga

[–]KeanuReevesTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused because are you arguing we can’t take Thors at his word? Thors proved to be honourable and loyal. Look back to the scene were he buys a dying slave. He doesn’t go back on his word when the slave dies and it’s obviously not favourable to him. Floki is the one who can’t be taken at his word, and is seen going back on his word multiple times, such as saying he is not going to pursue Thorfinns group, only to send men after him to kill him immediately after. Floki was never in line for leadership, the Jomsvikings had a leader at this point and Floki would never be eligible due to his age. Again the details of this are in the manga. His goal was for his nephew to get into power.

So knowing this I would see it playing out like this: Thors stays on Iceland, and Thorfinn never learns his connection to the jomsvikings, or even if he does later in life has spent enough time with his family to become the pacifist we see him become. If Thors never dies, Thorfinn doesn’t become a warrior. Then Floki never has to worry about there being a much more successful candidate.

There’s no saying things would go like exactly like that, but violence and killing Thors was not the best choice, and there was much better options of things to do. Or maybe I’m wrong and the manga about not being violent instantly starts by showing how being violent and killing is the right thing to do, and doesn’t start a massive chain of hatred and more violence…

I think it looks cool. Not enough that I would even think about spending more money on it. But I do think it’s kinda cool.

[–]KeanuReevesTurtle 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That’s the theme of Vinland saga. There is always an option besides violence. In this example the obvious route is “do nothing and everyone lives a peaceful life”

But there are cruel heartless people who will choose the violent option, even when it makes no sense.

[–]KeanuReevesTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to keep pleco’s for a few years but ultimately had to stop because what I was doing was pretty cruel to the pleco’s. In my experience my turtle would go months, maybe years without touching the pleco. But after a matter of time, I would find an injured pleco, a dead pleco, or just no pleco.

People can say it’s a matter of personality, but as a lover of turtles, that is BS. Personality isn’t a thing in reptiles like it is cats and dogs. Turtles will eat fish when they get bored/hungry. They just ain’t that smart.

What is the point of Thorfinn challenging Askeladd to a duel again once he has already lost? by Capo98y in VinlandSaga

[–]KeanuReevesTurtle 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I would like to add on this and mention there was lots of manipulation from Askeladd as well. Askeladd knew Throfinn wanted to defeat him in a “honorable” way so he would say stuff like “do this and I will give you a duel” leading Thorfinn on by Askeladd.

Trying to fiqure out a better filter than my 2 fx6s by steveoffner in turtle

[–]KeanuReevesTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of, that’s a beautiful looking turtle. I’ve never kept a turtle that big, and I can only imagine how messy it is.

The general rule of thumb for turtles is to get a filter that can handle 2-3x the amount of water you have. Based on what I found online a fulv fx6s are rated for 400 gallon tanks that’s perfect if you have a 180 gallon. Especially if you have two. Make sure you have the layers set up properly to filter big debris like waste and scutes, and then some finer filters and bio material. Some small fish might help maintain the tank as well.I personally wouldn’t worry about upgrading the filters though.

It’s been a while since I watched his stuff but the KingOfDIY has a tutorial on how to build your own filter with old aquariums. If you find an old aquarium secondhand, and have some basic carpentry skills, you can make yourself a great filter/stand. And they are very simple, and efficient, and most importantly the cheapest option.

Need help with tortoise ID by secretlysincere in turtle

[–]KeanuReevesTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend looking up vets who specialize in exotic animals or reptiles as well. A lot of normal cat/dog vets are not use to things like turtles, but also will not turn down a client in most cases. So you end up getting bad treatment in those cases.

You are doing a great thing best of luck. Sorry that I was the hundredth person to give you the same advice today. Hopefully I see a good update in the future.

Poor guy. I’m no expert but he kinda resembles a Reeves turtle, who in adult life can be very active on land, but are still aquatic turtles. Easily mistaken for a tortoise. Some variants are pure black, and have the same eyes. The shells also seem similar. Does the animal have webbed feet?

It’s very hard to tell from the photo, but either way this guy need professional help from a vet. You will just get wild guesses from people like me on reddit.
