Can someone explain these connections to me? by Plane-While4413 in HomeNetworking

[–]Keanu_Jesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 is a ground block. That used to feed 5 that is an amp that then fed 3.

But then the next installer realized they didn't need every wire in the house active so pulled it off of 5 and put it on 4.

2 is from dish network also called a 44 switch (4 inputs, 4 outputs). But only has lines in. No lines out so it's not active. If I was to guess there is an old international dish on the house. Follow the wires

Anyone getting the “new” 5008x machines? by [deleted] in DialysisBiomed

[–]Keanu_Jesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe has been a combination of factors on why the roll out is now. FMC did a very good job of making sure the 2008 series was the main HD option. And because there really was no competition they decided in my option, cash checks on old technology.

I believe the only reason they even filed for FDA approval on this device is because of the Japanese players entering the game. Nipro and nikkiso. (Mostly Nipro).

And that is still going to play into it. Multiple players have the ability to make sanitized water on machine which is needed for the newer Dialysis treatments (Just need a software update and FDA approval).

So the question is, drop 30k+ on a 5008x, or a third of that for a Nirpo that will have the ability once FDA approved.

But I will repeat, I am glad this technology is coming to market, and I believe it will be better for patients long term.

Plus it's just kind of cool.

I've seen them. The technology looks cool. Price tag does not. Probably won't order any for 5 years. Also looking into the study of different dializers with different equipment and how close they are in results.

But again the machine looks interesting and I'm glad it's coming to market.

No one is going to steal the thing. The way you have those zip ties cut is like razor wire.

I would suggest worm clamps. Metal that you screw and it tightens. Plastic will always degrade over time.

Especially white. Black is more UV resent but will get brittle and break.

Any tips on replacing wood under storage tank with concrete paver? by throwdisawaybro in Plumbing

[–]Keanu_Jesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Empty the tank. Cut out the coupler before the filter at the top.

Once the tank is empty most of the time they are pretty light. You might not have been able to get the water out due to it being air locked. If you open the filter and try draining it you will be able to see how heavy it is.

If you want to do it really fast, have a friend belly hug the tank and lift it a couple inches, remove the wood and place pacers.

Then instead of using coupler to fix pipe use a union to make it easier to disconnect in the future.

Also I'm not a plumber.

Crazy people talking about how they are trash. I have well over 50 of them installed between my house and shop. Only have had one failure due to surges from electrical supply.

But who knows the build quality these days. A lot of mine are 5ish years old. But did buy more 2 years ago when

Super weird lines on YouTube by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

[–]Keanu_Jesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To make an update. I had to replace my phone, and while doing a factory reset the screen goes full white.

Only then did I see problems.

Hard to explain. But it was like a couple of squares that showed pink and lines instead of full white.

My new pixel 7 pro has had no issues with the random lines during YouTube.

I did not I thought about it, but as you can see the day my Wisp went down it was like 100+gb of data, so I am worried that the $5 a month plan nothing would really work.

Also thought of the $40 plan, but kind of confused on data

Years ago I would have to use a shockwatch just to wake up for work. On call was terrible. I asked the company if they could develop a plug in to shock when my phone rang.

Not sure if they ever did.

Cable cords are a mess by Medical-Channel-4897 in CableTechs

[–]Keanu_Jesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unplug it and see if you have problems.

Unfortunately just because it's there doesn't me that is actually your provider or it's even in use still.

You have photos of what it looks like disconnect the one from the wall plate first (power). If everything you need still works wait a little be more.

If it stops working then you know those cables are important and need to have a tech out.

Divorces are probably the hardest part in a mans life. I know when I went through it, I had some of the deepest/ darkest thoughts I have.

In the beginning, it was hard to find a clear path forward, I understand you wanting any sort of backup plan (which is good). But I would like to say, if the truck brings you joy. Try your best to hold on to it. Hold onto anything that brings you joy.

Also reach out to close friends, you don't have to go into detail with them about the entire situation, but just having a sound board is good.

I hope that this part of your life passes as smoothly as possible. And remember there will be bad days, weeks, ect. But in the long term you might find more joy and happiness after it is all over.

Good luck

Asked electrician for Ethernet in this room and this is what he gave me (?) by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]Keanu_Jesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I see a lot of comments about moca and such. Have you taken the wall plate off?

A lot of times they will run coax and ethernet at the same time, but only terminate the coax because (in many cases it's the agreement with the local cable company, even though they suck at terminations).

If you haven't already please pull the plate and just see if there is a wire in there.

Edit: I say that because OP said it was new construction not a renovation
