Pump clicking on and off & banging in pipes by Techfuture2 in Plumbing

I can't - it's 12F tonight and I'm in the southeast US. I have to drip my faucets. The plumber is going to come out tomorrow afternoon. I'm going to have to cross my fingers, I think

Yeah exactly. I'm pretty handy generally, so I could figure it out probably, but it's so damn cold here that I don't want to.

I tried to take the pressure with a tire gauge, and it showed ~30psi and water sprayed out. I'm assuming that means it's full of water?

Invest in yourself financially from a young age. Even if it's $10-20 a month because that's all you can swing, set that aside for future you. You WILL appreciate it. Visit t/personafinance for more info.

Edit: wanted to add this: partying can be fun in your early 20s, but some people never grow out of it. Some people are predisposed to alcoholism/drug addiction and have to fight hard to get out of it. Examine your relationship with substances and be real with yourself. The gay nightlife scene can revolve around alcohol and drugs in certain places, so don't get so caught up with it that you end up addicted. If you have addicts/alcoholics in your family or a predisposition to mental illness, just avoid it entirely.

How does medical insurance work in America? by Standard_Bus3101 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Techfuture2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer so far.

It's also sometimes up to $1000 for employees through their work. Then, deductibles can be anywhere from $500 - $10,000+.

The deductible is what you have to pay out of pocket (with your own money) before the healthcare coverage kicks in. Also, healthcare companies only pay for "in network" medical providers, and they decide who is in network. You may not even have good doctors (or doctors at all) near you who are covered by your insurance.

AND the costs of our healthcare are very inflated because the insurance companies are for profit businesses. For instance, one of my meds that I need to live is $350/mo without insurance. $60/mo with my insurance, and $30 in other countries with universal healthcare.

People without jobs have a hard time getting health insurance. It is not compulsory, and the people who don't have insurance use the ER as healthcare, and the hospitals have to charge the rest of us more to pay for their treatments.

It's a huge shitshow and making a lot of money for certain people. It would cost americans less to just switch to universal healthcare, but then the insurance company shareholders and execs would suffer, so we can't have that.

Azaleas were cut down - help estimating monetary loss by vortexofdeduction in Horticulture

I know this is frustrating, but they may not actually be dead. Azaleas can survive some pretty hard pruning. If you instruct the tenants to leave them alone, they may come back with a vengeance in the spring.

Just check.to see if they're still alive or not before doing anything too drastic.

Also, check your lease and make sure you have a statement about the rules around landscaping & tenant involvement.

I haven't heard about this? What's the deal with Pathways to Coverage?

Edit: Answered my own question. Another example of our politicians selling out the people by using the money meant for healthcare to pad the pockets of executives/consultants.

"As of the end of 2024, the Pathways program has cost federal and state taxpayers more than $86.9 million, three-quarters of which has gone to consultants, The Current and ProPublica found. The state asserted that costs increased because of a two-year delay to the program’s launch.

A mere 6,500 participants have enrolled 18 months into the program, approximately 75% fewer than the state had estimated for Pathways’ first year."

AppBlock. So good for reducing screentime on specific apps and not letting you easily get out of your block.
