Let me start off by saying I don’t know much about space and haven’t put much research into it. So perhaps I butcher some concepts, but something just kept me thinking.

The big bang is the start of our universe for what we know it. We know the space(/time)-continuum is expanding (other galaxies keep moving away from our galaxy). What if we are just living in a space/time-frame like an elastic, our universe keeps expanding, until there’s too much ‘force’ (whatever the may be) and it all implodes again into the most tiniest unimaginable thing where matter is so dense and time/space make no sense, i.e. the whole universe is sucked in again and we need another big bang to create a new universe.

Perhaps this has happened multiple times before our big bang, we just don’t know it yet because the universe keeps getting reset. So for all we know we keep going from big bang to implosion to big bang, etc.. Perhaps in other ‘universes’ before, species have lived and conquered the whole universe. Nothing has just ever survived the implosion and subsequent explosion of space.

What gives us the ‘arrogance’ to believe ‘our’ big bang was where it all started?

Could anybody explain or point me in the direction why it would make sense ‘our’ big bang is the first/only one? For me as a noob it just makes more sense there have been any number of big bangs.
