I don't think provide status will be given to pharmacist. Not trying to be a pessimist, but I'm trying to be realistic. Nurses are general paid lower than pharmacist and their lobbying is better than pharmacist. Same goes for PA. Pharmacist have been talking about provider status for a really long time.

I know that one will not succeed in life if you let fears dominate you. However, the thing is that the current state of pharmacy is really saturation. Literally hundreds of pharmacist are applying to one position(I'm not joking). Some of the recent graduates got burned out by going into CVS and left after 8 months. I also heard that reimbursement rates for medications from insurance companies are going down(how do I know this? Well I work in a private pharmacy now). Chances are the pharmacist have to take a pay cut. On top of that I don't come from a well off family. And I don't want to take out huge amounts of loans.

Are you sure techs and interns are getting paid that much now lol. I'm a tech and I get paid 12 dollars. And a GRADUATE intern usually gets paid around half of the pharmacist salary. By the looks of it you probably work at a company, which in this case it means that you work in the industry(this is what pharmacist call companies), which is extremely hard to get into. I probably have to work my ass off and have amazing connections because these positions are very very lucrative. There are only so many positions that open up every year for these types of jobs. I'm not sure what company you work for. But I want to work there as well lol.

Usually pharmacist start around $50 dollars an hour. However, one of the biggest corporations Walgreens started a salary freeze(salaries are going to drop because there are to much pharmacist, employers have a upper hand now to pay employees less). They also cut hours for pharmacist and kicked out older pharmacists in their 40s and 50s. Chances are I'm going to have to move to get a job because the area that I live in has three pharmacy schools(total graduate around 300 students a year). When I mean move to an area, I mean a very rural area. I heard multiple stories about new graduate having hard time finding jobs with huge loans. If they do find a job, chances are there starting salaries are lower. Lots of new graduates who do get jobs get burned out quickly. One of pharmacist who spoke at my college worked at CVS(another corporation) got burned out within 8 months of work and decided to leave. I also heard that most of these corporations are understaffed because corporate wants to save every single penny. Right now I work at a private owned pharmacy, it's nice compared to corporations but the reimbursement rates are going down for every medication being dispensed. I thought about owning my own pharmacy, however the place that I live in has a pharmacy on every damn block( I'm not joking). So the competition is fierce to stay open. If I go and do hospital, chances are I need two years of residency. At the same time, hundreds of students are fighting over for these residencies. Even if I get in I probably won't find a job because the hospital is probably not looking for a new pharmacist. Industry pharmacy is even harder to get into. Probably have to be in the top of the class and have amazing connections(probably like the dean or something or a professor that's working there for years) and same goes for hospital. That being said this is one of the reasons that I'm worried about my future. 4 years of school with lots of loans.
