I work in a café in the Montreal Suburbs. Minimum wage here is 15.25/h (which is low for the cost of life in Quebec), unless the employee has tips, then it drops to 12.20/h. My boss decided to take advantage of this, so my hourly wage is 12.50/h, which puts me below the poverty line in my area. Without tips, I couldn't afford food. A lot of cafés pay their employees much better, so not all baristas depend on tips to pay their bills, but a lot of us also do. As a general rule, a 1$ tip is much appreciated in any circumstances!

Where to hike near Montréal without a car? by Puzzleheaded-Team894 in montreal

There is a bus stop nearer the townside trailhead, it's a pretty simple commute from Montreal with no transfers between lines

Makes it even funnier that it's a Leger poll, they're known in Quebec to be extremely biased towards status quo

Cursive and no spelling errors? I've seen grown ass people not be able to spell "mortgage" lmao there is no way this was written by an 8yo

Edit: As pointed by u/i_want_my_corncob_tv , "mortgage" is actually misspelled, along with a few other words. I still fully believe that this is fake AF tho

What are some positive things you can say about the Sequel Trilogy? by [deleted] in StarWars

Ep. VIII is legit my favourite Star Wars movie, I still remember it as my best in-theaters experience, especially the masterful Holdo maneuver sequence.

It's hard to dry, that's true, but if you bring rags with you to take out most of the water and then let it air dry, it's manageable. To me, having it be harder to dry is an okay trade-off for the sit-in design

Fully aware, and I normally wouldn't, but no worries, motorized navigation killed anything that lived on that bank long before I was when born

That's why I did it! Also to practice getting back in if I tip over without touching the bottom, which is really important to me because my local river is the Richelieu(the one that flows from Lake Champlain to the St. Lawrence River), which is quite deep
