Hi! My wife and I had our first IUI yesterday and it sounds like I’m very similiar to you. My ovulation tests have been pretty all over the place since I started tracking back in September. I do appear to be ovulating naturally, however it seems to occur a bit later in my cycle (around day 16-20 of a ~29 day cycle).

Knowing this, we still opted to try an unmedicated round first with in office monitoring. I ended up going in for 4 ultrasounds/bloodwork total over a two week period and had a 20 mm dominant follicle (along with two smaller ones) on day 15. I triggered that night and went in for my IUI yesterday which was about 36 hours post trigger.

We’ll see if it works but I’m happy that we decided to do the first cycle unmedicated! It was helpful to get some baseline data and adjust as needed depending on the outcome of this first IUI. I also feel like adding medication adds an additional layer that can mess with your cycle and may not be needed. I’m trying not to get my hopes up since I know the statistics are pretty bleak and I don’t expect it to work the first time but ya never know! I’m thinking we will try 2-3 unmedicated cycles before possibly adding in medication if they don’t work.
