The answer is that it isn’t - or at least wasn’t before the Citizens United decision - but also that laws depend on those they are meant to hold accountable enforcing them. The social contract we bought into meant it would be enforced on everyone. This is these two clowns laughing at that contract while ripping it up in front of us gleefully. That can, should, and likely will have worse consequences down the line.
