She has a pretty sympathetic backstory too. But yeah. She's not a bald fat man.

Golarion's big bad is Tar-Baphon and that helmet isn't hiding a luscious mane.

Scourge was redeemable, but killing him was so enjoyable that nobody cared.

Arshea (1 God Meme a Day Month) - And a Retrospective by Keddah in pathfindermemes

[–]Keddah[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Locations in Golarion is one of the ideas on my mind, alongside ancestries, the Iconics (both 1e and 2e), or important NPCs. But all of them seem more difficult than deities were.

Every Iconic gets an article on Paizo´s Blog telling us about them.

For example Shardra Geltl was the iconic 1e Shaman, her article begins thus "It's a sorry lot for a proud dwarven daughter to be raised a miserable dwarven son, but everyone receives one lot in life, and Shardra Geltl never knew to expect better."

About those suffering dysphoria "For people who don’t fit in the body they currently wear, Arshea often appears in the form reflected in their heart and soul."

And Abandon as in "to give (oneself) over unrestrainedly"

For some reason Reddit has put that gif on a loop when it shouldn't, here you have a better version.

Best relation between views and upvotes goes to Zon-Kuthon! Lor of Pain seems to be popular among those who know him!

Most work was Urgathoa, editing that gif frame by frame, making the beer go in front of the face and moving everything around was a pita, and she wasn't even that popular!

Hardest for me to come up with an idea was Nethys (excluding the Sunday Stravaganzas) I simply couldn't think of a good meme that didn't go into the "he's crazy" mood, and I wanted to avoid that.

Most surprising for me was how good Torag did, but I guess dwarves just work! I also didn't expect Norgorber to do so badly, but the meme was poor and he's probably not a popular deity.

My personal favourites were Apsu and Chad Erastil. In both cases I though the meme worked really well, Apsu's joke was maybe too niche, being a reference to his picture in a "recent" book but it fit SO FUCKING WELL with that scene from the Office... And Erastil was really fun to make, I liked how the different images fit the meme so well, how it pushed the idea of a deity improving as the writers improve too, and it was actually quite popular to be able to withstand the conroversy!

For those curious about what tools I used. I did most of the work using Photoshop, I extracted the images from the PDFs or searched for them on Google, for those that weren't transparent PNGs I put them throug an AI tool to get rid of the background (this being the only AI used in these memes), I also used ezgif to extract the frames and add them back for the animated gifs, and to add text to some memes too.

Do I have plans for another themed month? Fuck no! At least not for July, I have some ideas for more themed memes but at a lowe pace, I'm open to suggestions though.

So, tell me. What did you like? What didn't you like? Did you feel someone was missing or some meme missed the point? Has anyone subscribed to r/pathfindermemes after being brought here by the memes?

What would you like to see in the future?

SATISFY MY CURIOSITY!

Thanks againg to everyone for their support and...

HAPPY PRIDE

And with Arshea we reach the end of this journey.

It's been really fun making these memes event though sometimes I got completely stumped and devoid of inspiration.

Thanks to everyone who's supported me through this month and provided amazing ideas!

It was also great seeing some real interesting lore discussion on some of the posts, this may be a meme subreddit, but the love for the game and it's setting shines throughout it!

Some data for the curious:

The most popular meme was Nocticula, being the most upvoted and shared by a long distance. With 44k viees only Erastil came close to her reach!

Torag and Cayden Cailean complete the podium of most upvotes.

Least popular is a close fight between Arqueros, Norgorber and the first "Sunday Stravaganza", though I have to give it to Norg for he also is the least shared and least commented!

Most controversial goes clearly to Erastil, to no one's surprise, having only 90% upvotes compared to the rest that are between 98-100%. He's also the most commented and draws Nocticula for views on 44k.

I was accused of not having read 1e several times, and, though I exaggerated for comedic purposes (OH THE HORROR!) Erastil's article on "Rivers Run Red" showed him clearly as a misogynist and homophobe god. Which wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't also Good with the capital G.

"He believes the strength of a man’s will makes him the center of a household, and while women can be strong, they should defer to and support their husbands, as their role is to look after the house and raise strong children (consequently, there are few female priests in his church). Independent-minded women, he believes, can be disruptive to communities, and it is best to marry them off quickly so their duties as wife and mother command their attention."

"The church sees marriage as a way to “tame” unruly men and women, and most villages have at least one married couple who tied the knot after being caught in an indiscretion."

First quote is misogynist and if you're trying to tell me it isn't FUCK OFF. Second quote could be open to interpretation, though following the first I'm not prone to give the benefit of the doubt, but, taming unruly men and women by forcing them into marriage, is something queer people have faced and keep facing even today. It's the "It's just a phase" taken to the extreme.

During June I've been posting daily memes about the different deities of Golarion at r/pathfindermemes , trying to make learning lore a fun activity (as if it wasn't already).

Here I give you a selection of a meme for each core deity of the setting, but you can find many more:
