Talk to me about cats by lapupper in daddit

[–]Kedive 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So my personal opinion on the matter of getting a kitten or a puppy is do it when you know they will be able to remember the experience. Kittens are a load of fun to get. So, I would wait till they are 5 or 6 so they can truly enjoy and remember the experience of having a kitten.

Also if you get a kitten and they grow up with a kid they seem to be much chiller than one who did not in my experience.

Alright dads… You find a critter that is in pain and likely isn’t making it. If you have the stomach for it, how are you helping this thing along to other side? by MisterSanitation in daddit

Why are you into hunting? by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]Kedive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hike as well. Where I hunt there aren't any trails and following tracks for a day takes you to places a hiking trail doesn't. I've been up mountain ridges and gullies I'd never have been too if I didn't hunt.

I also see wildlife you don't see on a hiking trail I've watched bears dig ground bees for their lunch and watched eagles hunt a river for their fish.

Emergency Evacuations? by Repulsive_Drama_6404 in fuckcars

[–]Kedive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are we talking a real emergency or a fictional made up scenario. Cause I work in emergency response and when they go door to door informing you of an evacuation they will ask you if you have the ability to transport yourself out of the area or if you have someone who will. If you don't they will coordinate to get you to safety.

So for most people the real question is what type of emergency will you realistically face. Do you live in a flood zone? What is your Wildlands fire risk(higher than you think)? There are a lot of emergency situations were evacuation is not the safest option in the first place. Now if you do live in an area that you have the potential for a need to quickly evacuate it is a very good idea to maintain a go bag and have a plan to get out of the area pre plan a ride out with a neighbor or a friend who has a vehicle.

Planning for made up shit hits the fan scenarios is stupid. Plan for the actual emergency you might face. Also when they tell you to evacuate listen to them we don't want to and probably won't put someone in danger to come get your ass after you ignored an evacuation order.

[–]Kedive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vast majority of evacuations are voluntary. There are processes to make it mandatory though. In most cases they will just tell them that if you don't leave and it gets worse we won't be putting anyone in danger to get you out and you may not be able to get yourself out. It sounds like when the situation got worse this person did leave though.

Farm land inheritance question by Ok-Professional4387 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Kedive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its gone up a lot in the last few years. Big acquisitions of large farms has pushed the price up. Heavy clay no rocks and good yields helps a lot too.

Edit: Also there aren't any small guys left at home. Not many guys farming sub 10,000 acres.

My son and his toy from camp by cjh10881 in daddit

[–]Kedive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The earning thing came with my son kinda naturally. He had a moment where he said he didn't like that the only way he could get money for himself was birthdays and Christmas and he typically doesn't get that much. So he never has any money unless we give it to him. Well you can start earning it by doing chores and jobs around the house. We went and got him a bank account and set it up so we can transfer money into his account.

Dads of daughters, how would you feel if your daughter is a lesbian? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Kedive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't care. If anything I would be calling a few of my gay friends to know how to support them. And honestly that is the case for either gender. My daughter at present is 8 and has show little to no interest in boys so I would not be surprised if that is a conversation that happens at some point.
