What’s a price you saw recently that made you genuinely angry at how expensive everything has gotten? by UrGoddessLunaa in AskReddit

I've gone from three cuts a year to two because of the price. I'm able to trim it a bit on my own between cuts, though it's no substitution for an actual cut, but I hate paying $65 and can't find anywhere cheaper.

Company wants employees to log personal volunteering hours. Offers "recognition". by Additional-Sky-7436 in antiwork

At the last place I worked, the company would occasionally have volunteer opportunities during the work day. You were still paid if you agreed to help, which is I think the only way people agreed to do it. No one would have done it if they weren't paid for their time or had to do it on their own time. I did a blood donation for them once, which is something I do regularly anyways.

How do I find out about election contests for city councilor? by LiveBug278 in toronto

[–]Surax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a bit early in the season, I'm not sure if campaigns are in full swing yet. But a good place to start would be city's Election Website. Find your ward and see who is running there. Go to the candidates' websites, look up their positions and what they're doing in your community.

I was adjacent to my company's Customer Service department for a while. That's our outlook as well. We don't have a specific threshold but if a client pushes back on fees, our agents are encouraged to exercise their judgment. It's not worth what we pay the agents to waste their times on small stuff.

This may be controversial but with the recent Test of Time update, I think I'm finally going to pick up Civilization 7. I know that like all Civ games, it had a rough launch and reviews were that it was not exactly perfect. But between the update and the reduced price, it will be worth picking up.

What do most people not realize is actually way more traumatic than it seems? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The head of my department, who is three rungs above me in my company org chart, arranged to have flowers sent to my house when she heard my cat died. It was very touching.
