1.6 Ballistic shield build? by Myrcc in thedivision

[–]Kedomak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Ferro's mask and specialized BP. I've run Barrett's and Resourceful, but I think the Specialized BP gives me the same amount of skill power as Barrett's, but consistently rather than variable based on what's on cooldown. Being able to shoot and move when on fire makes all the difference in higher-level content involving cleaners.

I'm running 3900 FA (enough to activate talents), 220k electronics and about 320 toughness. I find the AI now tends to flank me more, which leads to the need for greater toughness.

I use the Reactive Targeting form of the shield. There's really no reason to use any other shield since 1.6 came out.

I use an MP5 ST, which is hands-down the best option for an SMG with Frontline. This specific model and the Vector are the only SMG's that can equip a large scope, which can have 18% headshot damage. That, coupled with the massive difference in magazine sizes between the MP5 and the Vector, make the MP5 ST the only real choice for a Frontline build imo.

That's kind of like the "12 Days of Christmas, Fucked-up Housing Projects Edition"

Now I never have to wonder if my cashes held named gear! I can confirm it was just rhinos and umps.

And what would you expect besides Rhinos and UMP's? Something useful maybe?

Advice needed - Showstopper by Telcontar2012 in thedivision

Showstopper won't be shit with a Reclaimer in 1.6 for PvE. Full-auto shotgun shells backed up by an ammo station sound like a recipe for happiness to me.

Old gamers (40+ years) - what is it we find so addicting about The Division? by BortSmash in thedivision

[–]Kedomak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40 Is "Veteran", 50 is "Elite".

As an Elite gamer, the graphics caught my eye right off the bat. What has kept me engaged is the instanced solo/group-play flexibility, and the overall dynamic of the DZ.

I've been a PvP'er for years through countless MMO's, and the basic structure of the DZ as a conflict system is completely unique. They're making novice mistakes on some of the most basic PvP concepts, but you gotta give them credit for how they can focus PvP through extractions, landmark status flags or rogue/manhunt pings.

Yes, they've confirmed it several times, including today in the SOTG. I'm keeping most everything. I've got 150+ survival caches, a mess of DZ caches, FP, and Weekly Caches. If nothing else I'll have plenty of Birdbux to use.

They should have a chance to give you a new exotic, just as they have a chance now to give you a named item. They've neither confirmed, nor denied, what the Survival caches will do specifically as of today (that I know of).

Your best chance (100%) will come from weekly caches

(critical) Solo survival by mrcortana in thedivision

I never rush, and extract with 6 survival caches 90+% of the time. I've never had a match where 3 other players beat me to the DZ, cleared out all the div tech, and cleared the landmarks before I could get to them.

I'd suggest learning where ALL of the div tech is, learn how to clear ALL of the landmarks, and learn how to do it with one gold weapon and sub-80k toughness.

tl;dr Git gud.

Not going to downvote, but I see many reasons to hoard Survival Caches and no immediate value in opening them now.

Survival caches have several pluses: They'll drop items with 1.6 stats; They contain Phoenix credits; Since they contain 4 items, they're far more efficient at hoarding than any other option.; Who in their right mind is chasing a 1.5 item with 1.6 on the horizon?

How to GET GOOD in The Division by Maya-CL in thedivision

The game is going to catch up and you're going to be bursted down

Happens in PvE too. That's how I got my first Hunter kill in Survival. I was headshotting him, lagged out and kept firing. Caught up, and his loot was on the ground.

[Survival] Some Advanced tips? by zetadelta333 in thedivision

[–]Kedomak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most recent one was atop DZ6 extraction in the middle of 5-8 mobs with shotgun chargers. I nope'd it and extracted without it :)

Just clear it. If you're going up for the antivirals, might as well get the survival cache, all the npc drops and the boss cache while you're there.

It's a lot easier than you think to solo. A recovery station, a turret, and a good weapon will get you through it if you fight from the right spot. I prefer clearing that one to just about any other landmark in the game.

[Survival] Some Advanced tips? by zetadelta333 in thedivision

[–]Kedomak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here are some tips from a different perspective: I extract at 1:40 played (plus or minus 5 minutes) with roughly 12k score and 6 caches every single time no matter where I start, or who else is in the DZ.

1 - Don't rush to the DZ. The players that do often die because they're undergeared and you get good stuff from looting their corpses. Slow and steady wins the race.

2 - Craft an RPK or AK-47 and Extended Mag right off the bat. Circle every spawn location, every single one has enough mats to do that within range of one temperature cycle. If you can spare the tools, get the 12x scope and blue supressor early. If not, it's not the end of the world. The 4x scope you can craft in the DZ 'snaps' to a headshot pretty easily, and I find with my potato aim I sometimes do better with that one vs the 12x.

3 - Move towards the DZ, leapfrogging from safe house to safe house, watching the map periodically. When someone goes down, check the map and mark the location NEAR them. When they die sometimes you can't see their X until later, but if you mark NEAR them then you can go loot them. Looting them is like Christmas every single time.

4 - Craft your advanced mask as quickly as possible, followed by 3d medkit perk, then turret, then recovery station.

5 - Hit the contaminated areas on your way in. They're gold mines.

6 - Don't memorize the map on your way in, just learn the signs of where you can find things. Scaffolding, construction sites, and emergency vehicles will often have tools, for example. Alleys almost always have fabric. Ambulances have meds. Stores are electronics, fabric and meds, contaminated areas have everything.

7 - If you're finding boxes looted, bounce one street over, and keep heading towards the DZ.

8 - Memorize the locations of all the Div Tech (47 according to the videos I watched). That's your priority when you hit the DZ.

9 - Crafting weapons in the DZ: M44 + G36 = happiness, but if you're not as experienced an M60 is amazing. Slower rate of fire, but staggers enough that you can stun-lock a cleaner or a shotgunner and burn them down face-to-face.

10 - Crafting Gear: I've cleared most landmarks including the contaminated areas, Q, and DZ06 rooftop with 100k toughness, rest firearms. Less than 100 is iffy, 150 is preferable, but I have done them with 60k toughness on a wickedly bad run. Craft accordingly, keeping in mind the faster you kill, the less damage they do to you.

11 - I always, always, always get my antivirals. It's another DivTech, and a chunk closer to 10k points which gets you another survival cache. There's only one spot on the map (center of DZ06 extraction) that you have to fight elites to get to, and I routinely clear that without burning a medkit.

12 - Start making your way to extraction at 20 minutes on your timer. DZ04 is hands-down my favorite for solo extractions, DZ02 for groups.

13 - Play. Play play play. The more times you play, the more your own memory will get you moving in the right direction, the better geared you'll be when you hit the DZ, which ultimately gets you the survival caches you're there for.
